Unfortunately the owners of the farm retired and the people running it didn’t opt to buy, so it is/was for sale. We visited in August 2014 and absolutely loved it. The quality and inexpensive fruit and vegetables down to the jellies and preserves. Was so planning to visit again this year on our Fruit Loop tour and see that they are closed. I hope someone can come in and buy it and get it back up and running with the same quality fruits & veggies, events and exceptionally friendly staff!

Pear Festival 2014 drew us over to the Fruit Loop. I have been over to other farms over the years, but never Rasmussen. I guess because it wasn’t right on the highway. I had saw their ad in the paper and decided I wanted to visit them first. I am glad we did. They had a large selection of pears, of course, but had many other things for sale from tomatoes to Flowers. All of it priced at half of what it is in the grocery store. We left there with several different varieties of pears that I wanted for pies. They had the u cut flowers, peppers and tomatoes going too. We left there to another farm on the way to Parkdale for BBQ and was so happy we didn’t go there first. The farm on the highway was charging $ 3.29 a pound for peaches and nearly that for pears. Rasmussen we were paying 79 cents a pound. I would have been disappointed had I stopped there first. Rasmussen will the be farm for all future visits on the Fruit Loop.

Was cute and friendly. We went for the Van Gogh festival! It was beautiful and relaxing. Its not a huge place, it has a nice small town farm feel which is what it is. We had the BEST cherries EVER! I actually am going to contact them about what kind they were because we are hooked! They had many types of fruits and we tried the Santa Rosa(I think) plums which were awesome as well.

What are you looking for in a farm visit: inexpensive produce or a pleasant way to spend the afternoon? If you want to stock up on produce, this is probably a good place to do it, but it wasn’t especially pleasant as a tourist attraction — we enjoyed the Gorge White House a lot more. Rasmussen does a nice job creating the up-front illusion that it’s a tourist attraction by scheduling various special events — the weekend we were there, it was their«Van Gogh Days» sunflower festival. Happily, I’d noticed that they had some sort of «festival» scheduled for virtually every weekend of the summer, so I wasn’t surprised that it turned out to be not much of anything. The produce was a nice selection, but there wasn’t much fun for the kids.

I went up here with the main goal of picking a bunch of tomatoes to get me through the winter… and was delighted to see that they also have u-pick zucchini, bell peppers, hot peppers, corn, eggplant… All for a fantastically low price. Running low on time, I only got 22lbs of tomatoes at 49¢ a pound, but I’ll be back real soon to get more veggies from this friendly, local, charming farm… oh and bring your camera, it’s beautiful up there.

Now this is what a fruit and vegetable stand is all about. The view in this serene valley is so beautiful several months of the year, if I had the money, I wish I could have a second home here. Go on a nice day and you won’t be disappointed. Lots of varieties of apples and pears plus peaches and tomatoes when they’re in season. Plenty of jams with samples to try and so much more. Good workers and the prices are reasonable.

This farm actually ended my round up of the Fruit Loop, but I’m beginning with it to review because I think it’s a fantastic find. It’s certainly a mix of kid fun and adult pumpkin grabbing. Their main claim to fame seems to be the pumpkin display which was pretty incredible. Inside a huge shed the Rasmussen team has carefully illustrated and sculpted various children’s rhymes entirely out of pumpkins. That was some major glue gun, craft-o-matic stamina that the crew had and it’s completely worth the trip out to take a look at all they had to offer. We went early in the season and found 3 perfect pumpkins, still on the vine ready for our plucking. It also appears that the farm sells fruit boxes which were mainly full of apples and pears to send out for the holidays. This would be a lovely gift and while the presentation is a bit old fashion, with foil wrapping for the fruit just like they probably did in the 1950s, kitsch is in!!! I would certainly return and recommend this farm to kids of all ages.

Incredible jams, mustards, and fresh fruit, and lots samples of each. The best stop in the fruit loop! Definitely check it out.

The farm house was nice, but when I asked the lady working the counter if she had compost bin for my nectarine she looked at me like I was crazy and said«No, just trash!» What kind of farm doesn’t have compost?

As farm stands go, this is one of the nicest places and, even better, run by some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. First of all, I was absolutely blown away by the size of the Lapin and Sandra Rose cherries. I’ve never seen a cherry almost the size of a kiwi, but there they were, baskets full. And they are the yummiest cherries. I love that they put samples out and encourage you to put your«leftover» pits and whatnot in a container. It keeps the place much neater. We’ll be going back in about 3 weeks when the peaches are in full swing. I can’t wait to see if their peaches are the size of cantaloupes.
