I only went in to this bike shop because my friend is really in to bikes and wanted to check it out. This place has both Trek and Specialized bikes, which according to my friend, is rare. The vibe in this bike shop is not very comfortable. It doesn’t make you want to hang around and browse. The lighting is a strange metallic florescent color. I am in the market for a rain jacket for cycling and looked at one hanging on the rack. $ 450 for a rain jacket. This place is definitely meant for people with a large budget. The guy working there seemed a little uptight, but was courteous.

Premium Store. Excellent product knowledge, LOCALINFORMATION experts on where and when to go. Top Brands with true experts in Sales, customization, prices, and they stand behind their products. Mountain View Cycle is as good as it gets. They wear their service and satisfaction on their sleeves to make everything right and keep it that way. I shopped for NEW Bike in Portland, Beaverton, and Gresham. And bought my Brand new TREK Mountain Bike at Mountain View Cycle … Because This store was a standout on their sales, custom Shop work servicing my new Trek and answering all my questions. In the shop you will hear customers offering up glowing compliments: «You have been immense in helping us, way more then we had hoped for, we’ll be back. Thank you so much.» NICESHOW Mountain View. You earned my business and I’m hard to please, It doesn’t get any friendlier or better then this crew at Mountain View. Rafe Lehner, owner runs a good ship. Happy one too.

I’m not sure if it’s kosher for one person to post two reviews of the same shop, but based on yet another great experience I am doing so. I exploded the freewheel on my Trek MTB. I have about 6 months on the bike and ride it hard pretty much daily, and I am 190 lbs. I went in to get it repaired expecting to pay for parts and service. Charlie and Jeff told me Trek would cover the everything, as the bike is less than a year old, which I think is pretty great. Moreover, Jeff had a spare wheel he put on my bike to keep me riding while Trek does their thing to my old wheel. No charge. Last week I noticed that my quick release was coming loose on rides. Pierce threw the bike up on the stand and quickly diagnosed the problem of a loose bolt which simply needed a bit of locktite. I was expecting to buy a new shaft. No charge for the fix. I also have an Enduro bike. Last week Charlie noticed that I was not getting the proper travel on my fork, which is a brand new Fox. I was impressed as I was in for routine service. In any event, this led to the owner Rafe calling Fox and I am getting a new fork. In general I feel like the folks at Mt View take personal pride, and ownership in the bikes they sell. My bikes, are their bikes, and they want to see them running as such. Mt View earns my trust, and business each and every time I set foot in the shop. Eric Hood River

I needed a new tire and tube, so I stopped by this shop to buy them. The person helping me was Charlie(based on my receipt). After selecting a tire, Charlie told me that it would take 20 minutes before he could mount the new tire and tube, and that it would cost $ 10 on top of the cost of the tire to do it. I told him that I only had about 15 minutes left on the meter, but that I could mount the new tire myself. So I asked him to please let me borrow a tire lever, he replied, «well, I will still charge you $ 10» I said smiling, you are kidding right?(I really thought he was joking), he followed up by saying«or I can sell you a tool». In total disbelief, I told him that I wasn’t going to pay him $ 10.00 to borrow a tool, he had the nerve to say«how do you expect us to do business?». This is by far the worst customer service I have received in a LBS. «How do you expect us to do business?» Well, why don’t you start by developing a loyal customer base. All it takes is good customer service and a little common sense. Fortunately, there are at least other 2 bike shops in town. Avoid this shop if you can.

My wife and I bought two bikes a few weeks back and are really happy with the purchase. For us it was a pretty big purchase and they were super helpful and had a great inventory. Every time I go in I’m always impressed with the quantity, quality and diversity of their stock. During follow-up visits they helped answer all my questions and fixed an issue I had. It’s great to have a local bike shop that knows my bike and is very helpful!

Decent bicycle selection and OK staff. New owners and it’s gone downhill since. We’re looking for a new bike shop. We were longtime customers of Mountain View. We live 2 hours away and always purchased and brought our bikes here for service, etc. We were always treated great by everyone. Now, we get hooked for things we don’t need(brand new chain when none was needed, for one example), the staff doesn’t seem to care of you’re in there or not, and it’s pretty disorganized and barebones while they move things around. Overall not happy with their service or attitudes. This is not the first time we’ve been in since the new owners(it’s at least the third), and I waited to review it to give them a chance. Find another shop is my best advice.

Although not a super big bike shop with mega selection like in Portland, these guys have great knowledge and better yet the right attitude to make your day and if they have what you want, the best place to make a bike or accessories purchase.

While visiting Hood River on a cycling trip, I bungled my rear tire on a ride and was in need of a fast repair. They got the tire fixed quickly, allowing my friends & I to continue our Memorial Day adventure, exploring the beautiful Oregon landscape. Their ability to accommodate a quick fix was key, as I was holding up a group of six other riders, hungry to log more miles and perfect their awkward spandex-lined suntans. The lead tech who fixed my tire(didn’t catch his name, but got a photo of him) was all smiles and easy going, which are sometimes rare attributes in bike shop employees. Maybe it was the joy of knowing I was moments away from getting back in the saddle, but that employee gave me as good of a reason as any to recommend this local bike shop.

Under new ownership! Great service, selection and shop. We went in for a quick fix on a tire, as it had blown a couple spokes and a tire. Rim was trued, spokes tensioned, and tuned in less than 30 minutes. Employees were very accommodating and quick to offer advice. Really nice staff that gave us great advice on some local rides and out of the way unique stops for our cycle tour.

They have a decent selection, especially of cycle related clothing. However, I walked thru the entire store, including up to the counter, without ever seeing an employee.
