I ordered Chicken Satay, PadThai and Drunken Noodle. Chicken satay has no peanut sauce for dipping and the chicken is dry. Pad Thai noodle tastes like a ketchup rice noodle and noodle is not soft but chewy. Drunken Noodle is the only dish comes out OK but, not authentic at all. The food tastes to me they serve us yesterday leftover. The Service is good

Literally the worst Pad Thai I’ve ever had. It tasted like they just tossed some noodles with siricha and did a quick stir fry. Not authentic in any way. Very disappointing.

The food is tasty, the staff is nice, and they have a number of options they are happy to make vegan. I usually ignore the pan-Asian items and go straight for the Vietnamese menu, especially the phở and the noodles. The Thai food is also delicious. Bathrooms are pleasant, the music is grating, the parking lot is terrifying but you can park in the sign shop’s lot after 6 pm. Saves a drive to Portland when I crave Vietnamese! Love ‘em!

Fabulous Thai in Hood River! Cute, family run business. We went there last nite for the first time and are mad we didn’t find it sooner. Lisa, the owner’s daughter waited on us and was cute as pie! Made us feel right at home… we had the Thai Curry Noodles special and it was amazing! Cute ambiance and extremely clean bathrooms… Will defnitely be back!

Weird location but AMAZING food. Nice clean bathrooms, super nice service, amazing food. I highly recommend this place if you like Thai. The yellow curry is really good.

Wish I didn’t have to give even one star for this place. Food wasn’t good and you can tell that your food was reheated and wasn’t fresh. We had a the Tom kah soup, pad Thai and chicken fried rice and chicken Sateh. Food was very bland and tasted like it was the meat was reheated and not made to order. We won’t be coming back. I don’t know how others are giving such a good rating…

Go to Thai house instead in the heights!!! We went here thinking let’s try this place since it had good ratings but we were not pleased at all from when we first walked in. I guess that should have been a sign. Smelt of cat and wasn’t busy… We had chicken pad Thai and chicken satay and you can feel it wasn’t fresh tasted like it was cooked and the frozen and then warmed up. We won’t be coming back. I honestly don’t know how this place can stay open.

Just had dinner at Mekong this week. It was delicious! I hadn’t been to this restaurant since they changed hands and changed names. That was quite a while ago. I was pleasantly surprised. We got there early and that helped with the noise.(The tables are pretty close together.) There were only a couple other diners with us. We ordered param with chicken and the pumpkin curry with tofu. Loved them both. The chicken wasn’t that super thin, rubbery stuff you get at some Asian restaurants. It was moist and flavorful. The plentiful vegetables were fresh and crisp and perfectly cooked. It was so good, my friend and I cleaned our plates and left stuffed! Service was perfect. Attentive without being bothersome. I can’t wait to go back. Mekong is my new favorite Thai restaurant in the gorge.

I eat a lot of Thai food in a lot of cities, this is the best Thai food in Hood River. I usually get the drunken noodles or the green curry. This place is also a favorite spot for my roommates. The spiciness levels are fairly consistent, which is a huge plus for me.

They have a fairly diverse menu, especially with the inclusion of their surprisingly satisfying Phở. The kitchen can be a bit slow at times, but I think the food is worth it. Best Thai place in Hood River.

Our dinner last week was excellent. We had the spicy mango sauce special and seafood combo with summer rolls. The mango sauce was flavorful and delicious, and the summer rolls were a nice low-fat appetizer to start the meal. All vegetables in both dishes were fresh and perfectly crisp-tender. The seafood in the special was a generous portion and very good, with enough to take home for another meal. We were also able to get brown rice, which is a nice surprise. The banana cake dessert was nicely done and a great end to the meal, though we do miss the tapioca dessert they used to offer. Bring it back! For those thinking the food is bland, try ordering it at the medium spice level. Service was attentive without hovering, and we will return. While not a big deal compared to food, for a small place they have two restrooms that are clean and spacious. It makes the place much more welcoming than others in the area.

Wow. We chose this place for dinner because of their high rating… we left unsatisfied. We eat Thai food often and every dish we ordered was lacking in flavor. Green curry with chicken was the more flavourful of our dishes, but the color was barely green and the essence of green curry was barely recognizable. I also found it too salty. Crispy chicken(not the whole chicken) was really a bad interpretation of the name. Meat was extremely dry and only the edges were crispy which doesn’t say much because of the way the pieces were cut/sliced. Phad se ew was ordered for the kids as they typically love to eat this dish… my daughter spit out every bite I gave her… I gagged after tasting it myself. The noodles tasted as if it was boiled in a pot of water previously used to boil raw meat with no seasoning. I forgot that we ordered the papaya salad. This was actually the way I expected. Flavor profile was there… the cabbage served with wasn’t the freshest, but we ate it all. I will not be going back nor do I recommend this place for good Thai food. Two stars because the food was edible and service was with a smile.

Amazing food and service! I’ve been here on several occasions and the food has always been excellent! My favorite dishes are the grilled eggplant special and kao soi. They’re both very flavorful and the medium spice is perfect. I also love their homemade chili oil and Mekong is now selling it by the jar. It adds the perfect kick of spice to any dish! They also recently expanded their wine/drinks menu and the cucumber-basil martini is delicious! Don’t forget to stop by this restaurant when you’re in town!

Great food. My favorite Thai in the area. The summer rolls are amazing! We have had many meals there and they have always been good. They recently expanded their bar so they have some mixed drinks, beer and wine. The evil prince is to die for!

Nice little restaurant, although the tables are way too close to each other. I love their cucumber infused water and every dish I’ve gotten has been great. The waitresses aren’t always the kindest, it’s either a hit or miss on service, but still better food than the Thai House which outweighs the awesome servers at the the Thai House.

These old reviews need an update. This menu is nice and fresh, and the coconut soup(tom kha gai) is nice, but you may be put off by the slices of rough ginger and pieces of lemongrass… but I really like the rough, earthy texture. Also, try the fried banana dessert with green tea ice cream. Plus, they almost always have a running coupon in the local circular for 10% off. Yay! Really nice spot for a date, in the evening, there’s always lit candles. Edit 1÷9÷14: Went here a few weeks ago, and there weren’t any candles lit. Awwrrrr :(

Gnarly. I wouldn’t ever go back here. Very bland a poor consistency for Thai food. It was 2 blocks away, and unfortunately not worth the drive. I recommend hitting up a gas station and getting a bagel dog or something.

In summary: when it’s good, it’s really really great, and when it is bad, it is awful. The art of eating here depends on the luck of showing up when the right group of people is on staff. Having Mekong open in Hood River was one of the greatest events of the last year for this ex-bay area girl. My lunchtime cohorts and I immediately put this on the once a week list and I began to fill myself with Drunken Noodles with the most amazing crispy tofu regularly. All the curries were amazing — green curry with seafood being my favorite– and their house made chili sauce is super hot and has a great, earthy flavor. Unfortunately, after the season ended in October, things totally changed… A fried rice dish was served like a lump of sticky, flavorless porridge and my usually wonderful drunken noodles were flavorless with poorly cooked veggies, the crispy tofu having the consistency of leather. The sweet sisters who were usually on staff were replaced by a merry go round of people who seem to have a distinct lack of understanding of the word«hospitality». WTF? this was confusing. After doing some asking around I found out that the family who owns the restaurant changes the cook often, and if you aren’t there on the days when the mom is cooking, you’re going to be shit outta luck. At the beginning she was there all the time, but now it’s hard to predict when to go there. And the sweet sisters who were doing service are back in school during the school year so that accounts for the weird servers they seem to employ during the off season. Hit or miss, but when you hit, it’s great food for a great price.

Four stars for Thai food in Hood River. The prices are about $ 10/entrée with just the right portion. It is a little cozy restaurant with outside seating available(especially nice during warm sunny days). If you are visiting Hood River and get a Thai craving, this is the place to go. I personally enjoyed the chicken Pad Thai and the Lemongrass chicken, which comes with a side of white rice. If i come back to Hood River, I will definitely come back to this place!

For the small town of Hood River, this place has excellent Thai food. I’ve been here a couple times. My favorite dishes are the chicken pad thai, pineapple fried rice and mixed veggies!
