So outdated. Carpet is gross. Low ceilings in cardio room make you feel claustrophobic. I feel like I am going to bump my head on the ceiling while on the stair climber. Why is there only one sterio for 2 rooms(music gets cut short for spinning class so the aerobics room can use it.) A friend got a foot fungus from the shower(wear shower shoes). For all of this pay $ 100/month.

Their boot camp classes are awesome. Kudos to Matt and Carly awesome! Indoor cycling classes and equipment A+. They are making a lot of improvements to the weight room which I appreciate. And I also like the fact that they are strict on kids not being in class areas or weight room. This is something that is truly important to me. I would hate to see a child get hurt. let alone, this is my time for me to me without the distraction.

Awful place. This seems to be the only game in town in Hood River, which is really a shame. I’m tolerant of mis-managed places to an extent. This place is horribly managed. Not only is it expensive, but it’s very runned down. Old equipment. Smells too. Feels like a basement with no air. Now I’m wrapped into a 1-year contract paying $ 100/mo and still cant seem to find staff to get me a clean towel. So disappointed.

HRSC is really the only option for a «full service» gym in Hood River so you’d think they would be a great facility — but alas, that is not the case at all. The facility is hopelessly dated and the majority of the equipment is old and poorly maintained. The weight room is terribly laid out and the squat rack, if that’s what you want to call it, looks like it’s from the 1980s. It also has ab straps on it that are impossible to take off. Good luck trying to actually perform a squat especially while the thing is rocking back and forth. There’s maybe one full set of plates and a few other cybex machines in there, but that’s it. Not a pullup bar to be found anywhere! Also no functional equipment — med balls etc. And where are you supposed to do mat work like situps and planks? I rode an old spinner bike that should have been taken out of service 5 years ago. The handlebars couldn’t be tightened all the way and they kept slipping forward… not safe at all! The craziest part is that they actually have great Keiser bikes, but they don’t let members ride them unless they’re in a class. Ridiculous, especially when the spin classes are as bad as the one I took. The locker rooms are also straight from the 1980s and the sinks and showers are gross. Slatted benches that your ipod falls through, tiny lockers, dirty carpet. Yuck. The tennis facilities look nice and they provide recreational basketball and gymnastics for kids which is nice but they might want to think about having separate facilities for those activities and fixing up and re-purposing the space they have. I know that it’s expensive to keep up a facility like this, but the fact that the nickel and dime members for everything — towels, time on the tiny climbing wall, memberships changes(want to add classes to your membership? It’ll cost you $ 25) is unfortunate. On top of all that, their membership contract made me feel like I was joining the army or something. No cancellation of any kind, you can only sell your membership to someone else and that’s only after 6 months! Caveat emptor! Glad I got out when I did(check Oregon state law). It’s really a shame that HRSC doesn’t seem to want to take care of its members or the community. Hood River could really use a top-notch facility and this place could be that if it just stepped up.
