This shop is a treasure trove of glass and other Hawaiian vintage items(fabric, ceramic kitchenware, brass), keepsakes and daily items from past generations. The owners have a keen eye and clearly know where to forage for the goods. They were friendly and shared stories. I spent a few hours here… it was a departure from everything else beautiful to do and see on the island. It’s a treat for someone who likes to hunt for collectibles.

Enter this shop, you won’t regret it! My husband agreed to go in, hoping we would leave shortly after, but there were so many things to look at! I got some fantastic little treasures. And the best thing: the owner was lovely. She knew when to approach us to share some little tidbit of information, and when to leave us alone. She even showed us the back of the shop were she was cleaning her findings. My husband said that thanks to her shopping was actually interesting.

I don’t remember the name of the gentleman who let us in. He was a neighbor of the owner, and had the key. Thank you!!! This is one of the best places on earth. It is full of historic Hawaiian glass, historic American glass, and interesting stuff in general. It’s on the road to the great waterfalls, and worth stopping for. I have a bunch of pictures of this store, which I’ll post when I find them. Can’t recommend enough.

A wide variety of glass bottles, each marked with its year of origin and purpose. We took the opportunity to purchase a $ 51930s ink well to hold the ounce or so of black sand we acquired this trip. Run by a kind old man happy to chat about the various curiosities(incl. some vintage farm equipment and aloha shirts) in his shop.

This was part of a small strip of shops near Akaka Falls. It was home mostly to old glass bottles of all sorts, in all kinds of colors, mostly at reasonable prices. Other stock included Hawaiian shirts, old records(including Japanese LPs), and some other assorted ephemera. What a wonderful oddity shop; there should be more like it, but too many of its kind go exclusively online these days. Being kind of out in the middle of nowhere, it’s sort of amazing that this place survives, though I guess it gets the people coming from Akaka Falls Park. Definitely worth a stop!
