Seriously? $ 2.60 + tax for ONE(1) piece of chicken? No. Thanks. I’ll just stick with your very mediocre saimin. Zippy’s, you trippin’!

Burgers are great, so is the chicken, and the bakery is awesome. Oh, the spaghetti tastes like cafeteria food, don’t recommend that. However, try the cakes, they are delicious. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

The food is delicious– great chili! The service is not great though. They took over 20 minutes to fill our 4 item order, and wouldn’t give us the drinks until the food was out. Also, they woundnt give an extra empty cup so I could share my drink with my two year old, and charge for refills. Good food, subpar experience.

This place isn’t in the best of areas but it has a parking lot and parking on the street so you can’t complain too much. I love ordering some Zippy’s whenever we are in Oahu. It’s just something about Hawaiian food that makes me feel at home. The Hawaiian food on the mainland just doesn’t do the island food any justice. The owners of Zippy’s needs to think about opening one up on the mainland. It would do great business. I’ve had the spaghetti, the loco moco, the Korean chicken, the soups, the chili, the kalua pork and cabbage, and the burgers. Everything is so tasty. I always get the regular with the 2 scoops of rice and mac salad. It looks like a ton of food but I finish every last bite. I guess I’m overly hungry by the time I order and receive my food. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you don’t know what to order or aren’t sure what’s in something, don’t be afraid to ask. After all, you don’t want to order something you don’t like. Each Zippy’s is different. So check the walls for any specials they may have. I brought some Zippy’s back to the mainland. It was yummy and made me wish I could order more.

Walked in to get a spaghetti plate tonight and a mid 40s to early 50s toad-looking Filipino lady named Juliet greeted me «hi welcome I can help you here» in such an unenthusiastic tone, walks to her register, faces me and in a matter of a second she then turns her back on me and proceeds to do something else. Um okay? Didn’t you say you’re going to help me? She then turns around(as if I wasn’t already ready to make an order) takes my order and leaves my credit card on the counter along with my receipt and walks away. No «thank you» no nothing. I sit and wait for my order. I’ve watched people order after me and have walked out before me. How long does it take to seriously take pre-made spaghetti noodles and dump it on a take out container and pour meat sauce all over it? 16 mins later my order is ready. By far the worst Zippys on the island. So much for«fast food». This place has potential but the staff has to be retrained, especially toad lady Juliet.

After a long overdue visit to Hawaii, I had to knock out many places to explore and dine at while I’m here. My first item of business was Zippy’s! I was always told if I was ever in Hawaii, Zippy’s was the place to go to for fried chicken and chili. The restaurant was empty when I arrived. It was until I was done ordering food, the kids from the school around the area came into the restaurant was well. I stared at the menu like I just saw a celebrity, star struck and paralyzed! I didn’t know what to order because my stomach could only handle so much! I had to pace and remind myself that I was going to be in Hawaii for a week. Also, I still need to fit into a finalized altered suit. I ordered a meal for two of the following items. All were the mini plates: — Chili — Loco moco — Regular fried chicken — Korean fried chicken — Two medium raspberry iced tea drinks All the mini dishes did come with a scoop of white rice and macaroni salad. The rice and mac salad tasted great! The regular and Korean fried chickens were full of flavor and crunchiness. The chili was infused with hearty portions of ground beef and beans, pair well with the chili sauce. The loco moco had a juicy and tender burger patty, topped with brown gravy and a over easy egg. Anyone who can appreciate a good loco moco will enjoy this one. The raspberry iced tea was refreshing in the hot weather. I came, I saw, and I conquered most of the recommendations made here at Zippy’s. Like every mainlander’s wish, I wished there were locations here in the Bay Area!

I had a cheeseburger and fries. It was relatively inexpensive, and quite mediocre. The burger comes with a ton of sauce on it that seems like thousand island dressing. There are no free refills, which I find absolutely unforgiveable in any restaurant, since the cost to the restaurant is pennies. As a result, I won’t be frequenting any more Zippy’s restaurants.

We went into the dinning room last night. Our server was head server — Naomi. She was very nice. Food came out on time. Why one star? Because after biting into a piece of chicken katsu there was a long black hair inside. Stuck inside the chicken. Naomi took the katsu curry off of the bill. She thought is was a piece of sponge scrubber. No — black hair about 2−3inches long literally stuck inside of the chicken. We pulled on it and it was stuck. Sick. We just can’t eat there ever again. Really, I don’t know if we would go back to zippys again. Maybe the bakery since it’s done at their warehouse…

We ordered chicken katsu, loco moco, saimin, and grilled cheese. Everything was delicious, especially for being considered«fast food»! Then the bakery inside was even better. We tried the lemon pie sandwich cake which was to die for, the lemon roll, and the lemon twist. Must eat here.

it has been a while since I ordered from this location. I remember when I ordered something via phone it was very fast and easy so that it’s ready for pick up. I am glad to see the menu is now better and more clearer so that way people who are visiting will know what they want to order and just pick it up to go. I’m glad to see the place looks great and neat, which is wonderful. Maybe some suggestions how about using a app to placing a order so that way it is a lot quicker and easier for people who don’t have time to go in person to place and order so that when it’s ready they can receive a confirmation of their orders. Another thing that would be good to is having a separate line for online orders so that it would be fast and convenient for those who are ordering online or app orders. This was a great and good to place order and it was fast. thanks

The food at Zippy’s is good. But I can’t help but compare it to any Hawaiian BBQ restaurant in California. I thought it would different, considering it’s actually in Hawaii. But the food tasted pretty much the same. I tried the Zip Pac — fried chicken, terriyaki beef, fried fish, and spam on top of rice. I even had a plate of Korean fried chicken. The Zip Pac tasted like a seafood combo or BBQ combo from any Hawaiian BBQ joint — except it had spam. The Korean fried chicken is pretty much chicken karaage dipped in shoyu sauce. Don’t get me wrong, they were delicious. But it wasn’t really something I would fly thousands of miles to visit. If you’re in the neighborhood, I would stop by and give it a try.

Super S L O W service! After waiting almost 30 minutes for our chicken katsu, it was dried out, hard & rubbery… Big disappointment! =(

I’ve been going to this zippy’s since I was in middle school, so pretty much a little kid(now 2 years past graduating high school) & I like the atmosphere very much. Always came here before or after school, sometimes both. After ordering they do take a while. Sometimes I’ll just order a side of fries and they’ll take almost 10 minutes to make that for me. Other than that, this location isn’t bad at all.

For someone who comes from California, I would say Zippy’s is — simply put — Hawaii’s equivalent to McDonald’s. The food menu is filled with items that reflect Hawaii’s diverse population ranging from sandwiches to curry. So if you want a fairly quick but a decent sampling of the local cuisine this is a spot to check out. I ordered the following on my last visit: Fried chicken and chili combo– a pretty filling meal but I would only need to try once while in Hawaii. From my friends who lived in Hawaii, they highly recommended their fried chicken. The chicken had a nice crisp and came out piping hot. As you bite into it, the meat was moist. The flavoring, unfortunately, was nothing too special. With this combo, I was able to sample their signature chili. From fast food chili, I was expecting the beans to be overcooked to the point where they were mush. I was pleasantly surprised to find a bit of texture. Plus, there was a good amount of meat that was flavored well. What made it came together was the slightly thick sauce that had a nice tomato base which was a good mix of sweet and spicy. It does come with two scoops of rice and a choice of macaroni or green salad. I have tried both and while the salad is the healthier option, I would not say it is fresh or great. The location of the place is nice because it is fairly close to the airport. However, the parking lot is fairly small. The service was decent albeit relatively slow compared to other fast food chains I have been. Overall, I would say that Zippy’s is a decent place to get some Hawaiian cuisine.

The food was very depressing I order a grilled cheese sandwich and«LARGE» Saimin… my sandwich wasn’t cut and my large wasn’t a large it was a small in a large container that just really sucks because the employees in the front have excellent customer service buy the cooks need to step up their game big time…

1st stop after getting off the plane and getting a car rental. Been curious to try Zippy’s to see what the hype’s all about. I tried the Zip PAC since it seems to be the most popular. I liked it. You get to try a good variety of meats and the mini seaweed powder or whatever it is is pretty good on the rice. Zippy’s just reminds me of a Hawaiian fast food version of KFC. This is when I 1st noticed how everything is slow here lol. If I ever go back I’ll be sure to try their chili since a local friend told me that’s what they’re known for.

My family(of 17) and I just landed into Honolulu Airport and were starving so came here to the nearest Zippy’s which had been recommended to me by a friend who lives on the island. Anyway. I think it’s great food and a great cost. About 8 – 12 $ per person. They do sizes small, regular, large so it will really feed whatever appetite you have. The food was prepared pretty fast which was exactly what we needed after traveling all day. My husband got the zip pac which was a variety of things like fish, fried chicken, spam, and some type of beef? I got the chicken katsu! Both were great! We will probably eat at Zippy’s again before we leave from our Vacation!

I come here for the fried chicken plate with a side chili on the rice. The fried chicken here is one of the best i’ve tasted. They charge you for the 4 oz. of side chili which is no problem but I have to question if the chili I got was actually four ounces. It looked kinda skoshi compared to what I used to get at the Ala Moana and Dillingham location. I didn’t realize this until I got home. The customer service was a little lacking. I was the only making an order. The girl that was taking my order was preoccupied doing something while taking my order and didn’t make eye contact either. She didn’t enunciate her words too so it was kinda hard to understand. This isnt the regular Zippy’s I go to. But at night, this one has some flakey people in the parking lot so always remember to lock your car. Regardless of this experience, it would not stop me from patronizing this place. Its one of the best late night stops I can think of. This review was revised because I had a message from Monica at Zippy’s customer service voicing her concern with my experience. I told what had happened and she thanked me for the feedback and said they will look into the matter at that location. She also said she will mail out a voucher or credit for what I paid for the meal which I really didn’t expect nor was I expecting it, so it was a surprise to me. I think its great on the part of Zippy’s to take their customer concerns seriously as they do. In this day and age, when its important to keep customers happy with great customer service, you would think other establishments would key on this the same way Zippy’s has thru customer feedback.

I do NOT frequent this location as it’s a little farther for me but stopped by today for a pit-stop. The food here is standard but there are 2 things of this location that bother me: 1) Parking lot for this location is VERY, VERY small 2) Size of this Zippy’s is awfully small and I feel very cramped Granted Zippy’s is located all throughout Oahu and there’s Dillingham and Vineyard locations nearby. If I’m in nearby and need Zippy’s I’ll come in but definitely NOT my choice to patronize this location.

Kind of a random spot to go to, we headed down here right after the airport. We learned afterwards that it’s not in the best location in town, but heck, I’m from Vallejo, this is still better than Church’s chicken at 7pm. This was my first time having Zippy’s, it’s not bad, they have an interesting variety on their menu, including«Lent Specials», hollar at my fellow Catholics! I tried the chili, the mushroom burger and a one of the plate lunches with mahi mahi. They were all OK, I thought the chili was pretty good, but there wasn’t anything that really would make me go out of my way to go there besides being hungry. Oh yeh, I think there was a bullet hole in a window.
