This spot is like my friday pau hana spot after work/gym. i come early right when they open at 5pm. We can eat, drink and smoke all while we’er seated at our table. Love it. The owner Young is very nice and checks up on us every time we come. The staff is attentive as well to your needs. I like that fact that you dont have that korean BBQ odor while eating here because its outdoors.

— I came here one night on a late Friday after being out with some friends. We sat outside under some umbrellas and it was a nice and cool night. I enjoyed cooking our food outside so our clothes didn’t get too stinky. We ordered one of the set meals for 4 for about($ 99). It definitely filled us up! We had the drunchies so we finished everything! It comes with all the regular sides. The meats were all very good, mandoo was ok. — Service was good, although when it came close to closing time, the servers were more interested in cleaning up and doing closing duties rather than get our check, run our card, etc. so it took a while for us get out of there. Other than that, everything was really good. I would come back after another late night out.

The food, the atmosphere, the service… What can I say? Eddie, the manager, is always in the floor working hard and sharing his dedication with his guests. Bringing authentic, Grade-A meat & Korean BBQ to the table, together with an amazing outdoor ambience featuring a gorgeous tree that provides shade and intimacy for anyone seeking refuge from reality. Yakuniku Donday is definitely my go to spot after a hard day of work, or even on a a day off when I wanna bring friends and family! one of my favorite venues on all of Hawaii, for sure!

Food: Korean food at it’s finest, the Kalbi and beef brisket was on point. The marinated kalbi was fulfilling and really had a saucy flavour — it was tasty! The sides were delicious and the kim chi was the highlight of the sides. It was tangy and delicious and homemade from this restaurant, so it’s one of a kind and worth a try. We had Makkoli with our meal and it was just a perfect match! Service: Superb service, they were so friendly and helped us cook our meats and answered all our questions politely. Ambience: The outdoor seating is the best, especially at Korean BBQ you’re typically indoors with the vents sucking up the air. This place is all natural, as it’s outside seating and that was lovely on a fairly warm night. Parking: They have a parking lot directly outside the place. No stress in finding parking.

Came here with my three family members at 4:45 and there wasn’t anybody here. There was a young guy in a black wifebeater and a thin young girl who was constantly frowning and looked like she was intensely upset with us being there(maybe they weren’t expecting to have customers so early?). When we sat down they served us with one tiny carafe(barely big enough for a bottle of soju) of water and we couldn’t even fill three glasses with it. The guy took our order and brought us some side dishes which were really meager and kind of looked like it was leftovers from someone else’s(potatoes all crumbled and cucumber kimchee had a lot of tiny weirdly cut pieces). When we got the pan set up it was tilted on the side so the meat was cooking unevenly and it was just really awkward. The whole time the girl was walking around and setting up the chairs(slamming around the chairs?) really noisily and with a scowl and since we were the only customers it was extremely uncomfortable. My rice looked like it had three or four spoonfuls eaten of it compared to everyone else’s and overall it was a really irritating and awkward experience. Don’t know why this place has so many good reviews because it was the worst experience I’ve had at a Korean restaurant.

Very friendly and attentive staff! We came here with a large group and ordered combos for each set of 4 people. It was a great choice for a crowd. The food came in a timely manner. The staff worked their tails off showing the people who had never had yakiniku how to cook, keeping everyone happy with drinks and such. Perfect group experience. I had rice beer here for the first time. A little like nigori(unfiltered) sake, but lower in alcohol. It was addictive.

I thought that the outside seating was quite different and nice. There was no problem with bugs or anything, although you may be bothered by the smell of cigarette smoke if you’re not a smoker or hate the smell of it. The reason I only gave three stars is because of the small portions. We got two 3 person combos to share amongst 6 people which it should be able to feed, but it was only enough food for 4, maybe 5 people realistically. For the price, I expected to have more side dishes and more meat. I’d much rather go to 678 if you’re actually hungry and want to eat yakiniku. I won’t be returning here, but it seems that a lot of other people like it so maybe it was just close to closing which is why we got less meat or because it was very crowded. But I don’t think a business should ever skimp on portions no matter what.

Overpriced for Portion and Ambiance. My family had dinner here while vacationing Honolulu. We found portions to be small for price and meats are sliced super thin. We spend more here than dinner at 678 Hawaii. We also did not enjoy sitting in a parking lot with flies flying around.

First time eating here and i love it. The staff is awsome and so is the food and drinks. This is one of the only places that have combos for 3 to 4 people. Will be back again soon.

I love this place. My boyfriend & I come here all the time. We sometimes bring friends along with us too. We get the Combo A(for 2 people) which comes with pork belly, beef tongue, brisket, kimchi pancake, soup & a bunch of side dishes. Their pork belly is thick delicious. My favorite is the beef tongue though. I also like the soup that comes with the meal. All the workers here are friendly. The workers always come around with water & asks us if we need anything. Eddie who works there is always attentive & cool. The outdoor seating is nice. You can take smoke breaks between your meal lol. I always leave this place full & satisfied. I’ll never get tired of this place.

One visit and I love this place already! It’s similar to 678, but a little more affordable. I also feel a lot more comfortable here. It was probably the cute outdoor setting and the(great) iPod music playing that made the atmosphere super easygoing. Friends and I(4) got combo A(meant for 2 people) as well as a separate order of kimchi pancakes. There were a lot of banchan — eggplant, beansprouts, potatoes, onions, and I think it was tofu. Our meats were pork belly, brisket, and beef tongue! All yummy. The combo also came with kimchi, that they later grilled for us, chives pancake, soup, and salad. I may have forgotten something but the combo itself was $ 50. Pretty good! That + the kimchi pancakes filled us up nicely. We had good service from the guys working there. Wish they checked up on us a little more often, but I didn’t mind too much. It let us catch up with each other some more. Overall, I really like this place! Will come back again soon.

Lights, Korean food, and outdoors? Sounds just like the Korean dramas. Yakiniku Don Day is a hidden gem right off of Keamoku St. in the back of various restaurants like Menchako Tei, Lulu RaRa, Ireh, and more. Don’t worry about parking because there’s a medium sized lot in front and it’s free. Their menu offers a wide range of Korean dishes and meats, however we opt for one of the combos. For party of 2 combos are $ 49.95 but you are able to choose your meat selection by combo choice. We had beef tongue, brisket, and chicken. Each combo comes with meats, a bunch of banchans(sides), tofu soup, rice, salad and a kimchee pancake. The menu states the option for the pancake or some type stew, however they only have the pancake. They also serve raw garlic and jalapeños to grill as well. 1. The food was great! It was such a big amount of food! We were absolutely stuffed at the end. Good thing we didn’t order soju. 2. The kimchee pancake was a bummer. It was almost like raw dough on the inside. Couldn’t eat after having a piece. 3. They grill their kimchee, which is a new and fun way of eating! 4. We’ll back again!

This restaurant is so legit! We affectionately call it the«Parking Lot Place». I love the vibe of eating a pile of meat outside under a huge banyan tree. Their tables and grills are also authentic and are placed intentionally on an angle so that the meat grease can flow down to cook the kimchi — Awesome I haven’t ever seen this kind of set-up outside of Korea!!! Their meats are excellent quality and they also have a wide variety of soju flavors to get the party started! Service is attentive. They cook your meats and refill your water and banchan regularly. They have really good soups and anju dishes as well if you want to diversify your meal. Price is super reasonable for the volume of food. We always end up feeling super stuffed.

Outside seating and casual. Grill your own food, although the staff are at the table frequently helping out and bringing additional items. Food quality was good and small side were flavorful.

After my recent trip to Korea, was longing for another Korean dining experience so went to Don Day for some KBBQ and soju. I think I’ve been here only once since it changed from the previous Orinae Sarangchae. We ordered the combo set A which comes with pork belly, brisket, tongue, mini kimchee pancake and kimchee stew. The meats were all fine but I thought the portions were a bit on the shy side. The kimchee pancake hardly had any kimchee in it and the stew was pretty bland. The banchan(side dishes) were also kinda weird. Curry fishcake? A huge bowl of American style salad? The chairs are also very uncomfortable and the tables all need to be replaced. Still, it was fun to relive dining in Korea and a couple of bottles of soju as well as some Hite beer to make some poktanju certainly helped liven up the experience. Overall, an okay place but there are better nearby. Plus, it kind of hurt knowing that we could have had the exact same meal for about half the price in Korea. Oh well…

I was immediately drawn to this place because of the cute piggy drawing on their business sign. So adorable! The lights that adorn their fence are also super cute! Both gave a very welcoming vibe. I initially was really drawn to the fact that this yakiniku place had outdoor dining. All of the yakiniku places I’ve been to in the past were indoors so after your meal, you get to take leftovers in your clothes because you’ll be smelling like it for the rest of evening. I figured this place would be different because it was outside and so the smell wouldn’t be as bad. However, my bag still smelled like the food the next day. Boo! And because there’s no vent to collect all the smoke coming from the grill, you need to be choosy about where you sit so you don’t get caught in the line of fire from the smoke… yeah, talking from experience. I guess I’m a smoke magnet? Guess that means I’m smokin? Lol… okay okay bad joke! We ordered Combo C, which consisted of pork, beef, and chicken bulgogi, a mini kimchee pancake, and tofu soup for $ 50. It’s a meal for two and it was MORE than enough for the both of us. You also get small dishes of an assortment of veggies that you typically find in Korean restaurants. The service here is pretty good. They’re pretty attentive to your needs throughout your meal. I must say it wasn’t difficult to ask for something from one of the workers. One thing I liked that was different from what I’ve seen at other yakiniku places was that they put kimchee on the grill with the meats. I’ve never had kimchee like that before. I liked it! Gives it a different texture. The meat cooked pretty fast. Faster than we were able to eat, so some of the pieces were cooked a bit too much. I enjoyed the meats, though. They were all soft pieces of meat that had a delicious flavor. The beef and pork bulgogi were thin pieces of meat… so while I usually wouldn’t go for beef and pork, I really enjoyed it here. I wasn’t a fan of the kim chi pancake. They give you a small one because it’s like a side order to your meal. I’m usually a big fan of kimchee pancakes, but this one was really thin and not that flavorful. Tasted more like a fish cake. Their restroom was also an interesting experience. I walked in and to my surprise stood a washer! That took up a good portion of the space in the women’s restroom. Then, the sink didn’t work(or so I’m assuming because the sign said not to use it) so I had to go in the unisex restroom to wash my hands. Make sure to go when the weather is good… don’t get caught in the rain like we did!

I love yakiniku and this place is known for their outdoor seating so you don’t end up smelling like BBQ if you have plans afterward. Food is alright, they cook for you like how 678 does. Prices I think are average but when I got my food I was a bit disappointed. I ordered the spicy squid and it wasn’t spicy, it was sour.($ 13?) We got the combo A that comes with kalbi and pork belly, kimchi soup and some other sides.($ 49.99) Service wasn’t so great and it wasn’t because they were busy. There was only 2 tables when we got there.

Oh mama where have I been all of this time?! My friend has been talking about this place for the longest time and now we were finally able to try it together. We went there on a Monday night and it was pretty empty. Save for a couple of other parties. It was freaking cold that night so we opted to sit inside. The table was a little sticky but nothing a little water and napkin can’t fix. No biggie. We got Combo A and a side of seafood pancake. Being that it was my first time, my friend did the ordering and that was a perfect combo to get. Brisket, pork belly and tongue… oh mama! Just typing this is making me itch for yakiniku! Like all other yakiniku restaurants, you get a whole bunch of sides. potatoes, Kim Chee, salad, onions, some type of mixed veggies. I enjoyed them all. Service was great. Our server was quick and very attentive. They even come around and cook out food for us. I get a little self conscious thinking that they think we don’t know how to cook? Lol but I get over it very quickly. Our total bill was a little over fifty which is pretty sweet. The combo is $ 49 and is enough for two people. I think that’s more than enough since I almost had to be taken out of the restaurant with a forklift :) Definitely itching to go back!
