So going to the dentist can be pretty intimidating and scary, especially if it’s been a while. Let me say that my whole family and I have been going to see Dr. Watanabe. He Is a friendly and empathetic provider that makes an effort to show you he is focused on your needs and truly cares about you. Carl will remember not only the casual things like that family trip you took, the graduation or some other big event you shared during small talk; he remembers the important things between visits like your mouth goals.
With other dentists I’ve felt as though I had to struggle to help them remember what work I needed or wanted done, not the case with Dr. Watanabe. He will recap everything with you at the start of your visit and will also work with your insurance limits to pace out the dental work that needs done so you can afford it.
So far I’ve had cleanings, fillings and replaced 3 old crowns and one of those crowns was a redo of sloppy work from 10 years ago. It felt amazing to finally have it fixed.
Dr. Watanabe has a lot of aloha in his work, we trust him in our mouths and that didn’t come easy! His work is great, he is gentle and knows how to not only keep your mind off the pain but also to keep you informed as he is working on you. Excellent service and attitude!

I’ve been going to Dr. Watanabe for YEARS, Ann his receptionist is the best, she does reminder calls about your appointments the day before and always tries to squeeze you in when you are in pain! Barbara is the hygenist that cleans and polishes my teeth, always with a huge smile. I’ve referred my entire family and all my friends, though he decided to cut back on his hours and only works a few days, he now has another guy that took over but I’m going to stick with Dr. Watanabe until the end!!!

Just got done with my dental appointment here today. Noticed that my dentist has a Unilocal business page and I checked in. I have been going to him for as long as I can remember. At least since high school, since my mother had gone here in the past, as well as my siblings too. It is a well run operation, which I have seen a few hygienists during my extended stay here, but Dr. Watanabe DDS has always been there. He’s a good guy and loves what he does.
The dental office is located on Punahou Street, on a side road nearby the Jack In the Box on South King Street. You may miss it, since it can be construed as a large house or other business. The waiting room is spacious, with an abundance of seats and they have a restroom for patients and employees. Dr Watanabe shares this building with 3 other medical professionals (dentists), so it’s a mutual cohabitation going on here. Ann, Dr. Watanabe’s receptionist, takes care of his scheduling for the most part.
Lately, my dental hygienist is Stacie, whom have taken up running and talks about running the Honolulu marathon someday. She was kind of blown away by my stories about my own Marathon exploits and maybe I inspired her today. Stacie does a great job in the exam room and after that, Dr Watanabe comes in and does a final look around before sending me on my way. The process takes about an hour, so it’s pretty cool how everything flows. Every year I get my teeth x ray’ed, so that’s a hoot and a half. Something to look forward to, I guess.
Overall, I would recommend this dentist to anyone who loves coming to get their teeth examined and cleaned. Professional service through and through. They accept most major health insurances and major credit cards as payment for services. Check with them on other means of payment. Service is great and I could not ask for anything, but the best. Only problem is that securing future bookings can be a problem, as most people like to come in on a Saturday, which makes it hard for me. I like to do Saturday mornings and it sets the tone for the rest of the weekend.
They have a private parking lot, so there’s usually plenty of parking. Last appointment is usually at 4pm.
