UYE High Tea Socie-Tea @ The Moana Surfrider

I had a grand time getting to know a bunch of Unilocalers while enjoying the beautiful view of the surf and sand. I was also very pleased with my jasmine green tea and the various foodstuffs we were served. Although my second serving of tea was far too strong, so I had to add some cream and honey to neutralize the taste. Overall though it was a great experience and I can’ t wait to enjoy other UYEs.

Even though the Sandwiches were «light» in quantity, the rest of the production was very good.

Had an awesome time at today’s UYE with everyone! We had high tea at the Moana Surfrider and it was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday. The great thing about having a leisurely lunch in Waikiki is that it almost feels like you’re on vacation! We watched the tourists sunning themselves on the beach and it made me happy to be inside where we had A/​C.
Our check-​in was really odd because the restaurant opened at noon so there were a bunch of hotel guests checking in for reservations at the same time. We were escorted inside and had a lovely table right by the window of the Beach House restaurant. I was expecting a very high quality tea experience because this high tea is often rated the best on the island but I thought it fell a little short. The best part of our meal was the potato leak soup that was served as the starter. Delicious! But I thought the small assortment of sandwiches were a bit disappointing. We each only got three small sandwiches and I expected at least 6 – 8 small sandwiches for each person. The pastries were very nice, my favorite being the small fruit tarts, but there was no clotted cream served.
High tea is one of the loveliest afternoon dining experiences that one can enjoy but today’s tea missed a few of the details that makes it special. We drank tea from coffee cups instead of the matching tea cups (I know I’m such a girl!), there was no clotted cream or honey served (we had to ask for the honey) and even my BF remarked that the hot teas didn’t have enough flavor. Now when a man says that you know there’s an issue. I think the tea either didn’t steep long enough or there wasn’t enough tea put into the pots. On the flip side I thought that our waiter was a very nice young man (don’t I sound like a Granny?) who did his best to make us happy. Thank goodness!
Now that I’m done with all my over analyzing of a perfectly fun time, I’m glad that UYEs are often rated not on the food but on the company, and that is always 5-​stars!
