Urban Management

I’ve rented from Urban Real Estate for a total of 15 years at several properties. They have always been responsive to my concerns and conducted themselves as professionals. I found the properties I’ve lived at to be well kept and safe. Many of the residents living in the buildings are long term renters, 10+ years. It was nice to live where people looked out for each other. The office staff has always been courteous and helpful to me. In other places I’ve rented, the management company has been unwilling to deal with tenants whose conduct disturbs the peace and safety of the other tenants, but Urban takes this responsibility seriously. I also appreciate that in the apartments I’ve rented from Urban, they provide a quarterly exterminator service. In most other rentals, it’s at your own expense if your neighbors’ bug problem becomes your problem. I feel fortunate to be renting from these respectable people and would recommend their services.

Please save yourself the stress and heartache of renting from this sham of a management company. All of the neighbors in the building in which I formerly rented an apartment from Urban Management Corp, also known as Urban Real Estate had lived in the same building for between 3– 12 years, not only peacefully, but as a community.
Urban hired a new building manager to manage at 1710 Young Street who has the manners of a 6 year old on meth, has ZERO management experience, and is completely unprofessional. The manager, right off the bat, threatened several tenants, swore at them, told multiple people he could do whatever he wants as the property manager wants to f*** him, and told multiple tenants he would evict people so his friends could move into the building.
The building manager also yelled at an 85 year old lady who lives alone in her apartment and is so sweet. He also tells the children in the building to «shut the f** up» and tells them he hates children.
When the tenants started to complain to the property management company (Urban), the response was, «I don’t believe any of you, you’re all ganging up on him and getting together and making up lies. «
Finally the harassment was so bad that two of the tenants had to take out TRO’s on the building manager, for their own safety, thinking that at least this would grant them peace of mind.
However, the response of the management company was to not only Terminate the leases of the tenants who filed TRO’s but anyone who got subpoenaed to the hearing! Three apartments in total, 7 people.
God forbid anyone else should go through that again so I would strongly advise never to rent from this management company. Unless you like feeling harassed, and feeling punished for complaining, and don’t value your sanity stay far, far away from Urban!
