At first, this place was a 5-star since it was great to have all the food trucks in one location! It’s also close enough for us downtown people to do a quick drive to pick up some goodies! However, I visited last week and was so disappointed to see only about 3 trucks there! Not too sure if it’s the cops that are scaring off these food trucks, but it’s losing the«hype» of it all with the limited choices now.

I love Taco’ako Tuesday! + 6 – 8 different trucks + Friendly & fast service + Lots of parking + Not too crowded I would say the one downside is that there’s only a few tables… but the grassy area near the trucks is mostly in the shade under some trees. Bring a goza/chair/blanket and have a picnic!

This is probably the biggest gathering of food trucks, short of Eat the Street, and it’s weekly. The trucks gather near the UH Med school, can’t miss it. There’s obviously metered street parking, and I would show caution about parking in the Kakaako lot since they tow cars frequently for non-park use. Trucks start to line up as early as 11 – 11:30, and include: Camille’s on Wheels Da Ala Cart Puffettes Egg Puff Xtreme Tacos The Curb Kai’s Tiki Truck Local Stop Shogunai Flipt out There’s only a couple tables to sit out, but you should check it out if you’re in the area!

Back in Califas, where i experienced my first«Taco Tuesday», we did it the right way. Cheap taco’s handed out the side of a roach coach. (Those of you not familiar with the term«roach coach», basically its a ghetto taco truck) Now here we are years later, and we have a gathering of trucks carrying on that Taco Tuesday tradition in a big way. Its nice having options. On any given Taco’ako Tuesday, you will see 5 – 10 trucks, most of which have tacos. But on top of that, you can get everything from a regular plate lunch, to pie, coffee and puffettes. Make sure you get down there early! the longer you take to get there, the more likely they will be selling out of stuff. Remember, these trucks are much smaller than a regular restaurant, and can only hold so much product. so go early!!! Cant wait to go back again and get some Xtreme Taco’s, and of course(if im early enough) one of Camille’s awesome chicken pot pie’s.

If you’re not down for the crazy crowd that you usually deal with at Eat The Street, come down to Kaka’ako. It’s kind of like a mini Eat The Street, same concept, food trucks line up and you eat. It changes all the time so it keeps you on your toes :) Last time I went, Camille’s, The Curb, and a few other food trucks were there. Parking wasn’t difficult to find(but it is metered parking) and you have lots of place to sit down in the park area(perfect for a picnic!) Excited to go to the next one and actually bust out a blanket to have a picnic! Unilocal 365 Challenge #38/365

I’ve been wanting to try Taco’ako Tuesdays for awhile! I’m big on these food trucks and Eat the Street. New trucks keep popping up– I want to try them all! Went there around 1230−1ish today, but should have gone around 11 when they open. Every Tuesday, from 11 – 2, 5 – 8 trucks set up shop on Cooke Street Ocean side for the lunch bunch. It’s quite crowded, and beware, the trucks run out of their bestsellers FAST, as in the first 10 minutes. Yeah. Today, there were Kai’s, Puffettes, Ronnie’s, Tiki’s, Xtreme Tacos, Da Curb(shave ice and lattes), Camille’s on Wheels, Da ALa Cart. I’ve really wanted to try Da Ala Cart for some time, but never got around to it. Showed up at 1, and they ran out of their musubis, so we only bought mochi, tsukune and gyutan(beef tongue). Was ok. Also got THREE sampler plates from Xtreme Tacos. Honestly, their Falaco(Falafel in a taco) is the BEST! Crunchy goodness!!! Their Fried Pastele Burrito was also delicious!!! Lots of CHEESECHEESECHEESE and big pieces of pork. Tried Puffette’s Wasabi and Original Egg Puffs, but still, Genki in SF makes the best. 10 – 12 different flavors and still crunchy/flaky. Puffette’s was on the softer side. Also, wasabi flavor wasn’t spicy at all, but still, WASABI flavor in a dessert egg puff!?! Kinda strange. My friends really wanted Kai’s Pastele Stew, but they had ran out! Instead, we opted for Pastele Plate. All in all, a good array of trucks. Just wish they would’ve served bigger portions. we were still hungry after our first round of Da Ala Cart, 2 sampler plates from Xtreme and 2 bags of puffettes. WECANEAT!

Visited the trucks on Taco’ako Tuesday again. It was a really hot day to walk throug the park today. Luckily the sprinklers didn’t go on like last time. This time I noticed a new shaved ice truck parked along with the usual trucks, but didn’t try it. Below were the trucks that I was thinking of buying from, but ended up at Tiki Truck and Puffettes Egg Puff(review separate) today: Tiki Truck Da Ala Carte Xtreme Tacos Kai’s Pastele Puffettes Egg Puff Ronnie’s «The Curb» Shaved Ice truck
