The business has a notice posted on its door of its temporary hours — closes at 3PM everyday. However, I didn’t see a mention of the end date of these temporary hours. I wouldn’t be surprised if these hours are due to being short staffed as based on my experience and based on other reviews, customer service is greatly lacking. When I arrived at Subway, the«open» sign was still lit, and I only noticed the usual hours on the door, so I didn’t hesitate going inside. The door was unlocked, the food was all still laid out, and the place appeared operational. It turned out that I walked in a few minutes prior to 3PM – so a few minutes before the temporary earlier closing time. When my father asked if I made it in on time, the worker made a point to say(with attitude), «We were technically closed, but I decided to let you in.» There were several things wrong here. 1) It wasn’t 3 when I walked in. Albeit it was close to it, but especially given it takes all of a few minutes to make a sandwich and process the order, was my business really the end of the world? It’s not quite the same end of the world tragedy of the dine in customer who walks in a minute before closing, asks twenty questions about the menu, and orders a 3 course meal. 2) As noted earlier, the door was unlocked and the green«open» sign still lit — as a customer, I naturally interpret this to mean a business is open. If the worker wanted to close up shop early, turn off the sign and lock the door. Simple as that. 3) Was that comment even necessary? If you’re going to accept a customer’s business, then don’t make it sound like you’re doing that customer a favor. A simple, «Yes, we’re still open,» may have even garnered some tip as I would have been appreciative of the service after being made aware it was so close to closing. Instead, the worker earned this review. 2 stars are given here only because I did receive a sandwich in the end, it tasted fine, and I didn’t get food poisoning from it. Subway management, I hope you take these reviews to heart and take greater steps to emphasize the importance of customer service with your workers. Always be gracious to those who patronize the business or they’ll easily find another just as convenient place to frequent. As a customer, I try to be polite no matter where I dine — whether fast food or fancy feasting(although I rarely enjoy this luxury). I would hope that businesses have the same model to treat customers with respect whether they are a grand restaurant or a small fast food joint.

False advertisement on store hours. It’s not once but many of times. It’s kind of annoying. I get today is a weekend, but come on on weekdays???

Subway is pretty much the same, no matter which location you go to. This one is located at Keola La’i. It’s on the corner of Kawaihao and South and is open until 8 pm every day. Pros: obviously the location is great if you live at 801 South, or Keola La’i. I admit, that sometimes I get too lazy to go drive. You don’t need building access to get to subway. What’s better than an Italian footling with kettle chips. Hint: put some of your chips in your sandwich. Lots of the usual subway specials Works in Progress: They were out of meatballs. It’s pre cooked! How can such a small location with little foot traffic be out of a basic menu item? Also there are tables and chairs for patrons to sit outside, but they always seem to be locked with a metal cable.

The food here is fine – on par with any other subway. The employees have been nice as well. The reason for the 2 stars is the lack of consistency in operation. There have been occasions when I visited during the advertised business hours and the restaurant was not open due to various issues(cash register, etc). Also, there used to be table and chairs to sit and eat. My most recent to this Subway ended with me having somewhere else to eat because the table and chairs were no longer available.

Rude, Terrible service from the«sandwich artist» to the management. Went in to get a sandwich and decided to try something new. The unhygienic looking person behind the counter had a balled up filthy towel and a few pair of used plastic gloves resting on the cutting board where food is prepared. I inquired after a sandwich that had 3 meats and Asked if there was any chance to substitute one meat for another. I was told that they could not separate the meats because, «that’s how they are processed… Together.» The«sandwich artist» proceeded to show me the paper in which the three meats were already«processed» together and that she would get in trouble if she took one out. «Besides,» she continued, «I wouldn’t even know which one the bologna is anyway.» I asked if she was new, hoping this was the reason she didn’t know how to handle such complex questions with out getting flustered and rude, and the difference between bologna and salami. The«sandwich artist» proudly declared that they have been employed there for a YEAR. Management is a winner as well: not present, yelling over the phone and has not trained the«sandwich artist» well enough to know the difference between the 6 different kinds of meat available.

Strange for a ‘Subway’. Never been to this one before. Walked in to get dinner at 5:50pm. No people in line. Turns out they only had ‘flat Italian bread’ and ‘wheat bread’. NOOTHERBREAD! Obviously employees did not bother to make bread for the dinner crowd. A person goes to Subway for the choices … bread, toppings etc. Walked out without ordering.

Very puzzled and confused about this Subway. (1) One day there was a sign on the door that says«Due to lack of employees, store is closed today» (2) Another day a written sign«Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are closed today» (3) ENTIRESODAMACHINE was OUTOFORDER!(???) What the??? So no one can order a meal/combo that comes with a drink??? (4) They are constantly out of basic items like, tomatoes, or meats. They don’t bake enough breads. One time I went there there was only ONEPERSON working the entire store — that means, this one person took the order, made the order and rang them up. The line almost went out the door that day that I was there, and some were LEAVING saying«this is ridiculous». If you’re lucky and the store is open, and there are workers there — the food isn’t bad(thank goodness for franchise products) I just think something is terribly wrong with management of this Subway. If they lack workers, WHERE is the Franchise Owner? They should be there, inside the store, rolling up their sleeves and working in THEIR own store. They should be making sure that the store is OPEN every day(uh, basic business 101?) and ensure that THEIR store is operating better. It’s unfortunate because there are a lot of construction crews wanting to come here for lunch, or for their break — and there will be more, since this area is going crazy with developments of new buildings!

Something’s wrong with this subway. Ever since the employees changed faces 2 or three months ago, everything seems off. It was only 1pm and I already hear people in front of me being told that they’re Running out of tomatoes, Running out of meats, No more certain kinds of bread. Ice tea machine gone. Maybe ownership changed? I was still talking to my sandwich maker on which vegetables to get and the cashier station is already trying to collect from me. «Wth, man. I’m not done yet!»

One new addition. The owner of this establishment doesn’t schedule enough workers and must treat them horribly as there is so fast turnover. Also, they seem to run out of meats on a weekly basis(no turkey, no ham).

The reason this Subway gets 5 stars is because of the wonderful, courteous, fantastic, speedy customer service. The 2 young men that run it during the day are freakin’ AWESOME! The sandwich that I has I scarfed down in 2 minutes — because of the Chipotle sauce. The outside seating area is clean, and perfect to sit and enjoy your lunch with friends/co-workers. Keep up the good work!

Five stars. The $ 3 breakfast combo is back. Three selections to choose from & either a regular soda cup or coffee included. It’s a great deal and filling. Also, if you get the right combinations, you can actually have a healthy option, of sorts. Off peak hour here at this location is the best time to come.

My review is based solely based on their customer service. In a word — terrible. I’m a frequent customer at their Kahala Mall location and have always been greeted as I approach the counter. When we entered the Queen Street location we weren’t greeted because all the employees were huddled in the kitchen. When they eventually made their way to the line of customers there was no apology, simply a lethargic attempt to mimic the role of employee. Thankfully this is a franchise chain and their product quality are consistent to their other locations.

Boy what a disappointment today’s visit was. It is too bad that uninspiring half awake employees will effect my decision to come here in the future. Owner should be pissed if they knew how pathetic the service was today. I felt I was inconveniencing the employee. Sorry to bother you I want to buy a sandwich. No thank you on the way out. Wasn’t listening I had to repeat my veggies twice. So sad. Can I leave zero stars?

I like this Subway location because despite how long the crowd is, you’ll still get friendly service. And considering that they make sandwiches as they’re being ordered-the line actually moves pretty fast. Lately, due to the high winds, they’ve blocked off the front entrance and you have to go in through the side door.

Found this location on Unilocal a couple of weeks ago. Would have never came here if I didn’t have Unilocal!Great location, no where cheap, fast and healthy around. Usually I stop by here for dinner, they close at 8pm. Place is very clean and new. It only has out door seating, which can get tuff with the winds in that area. Parking can be hard to find, they only got metered street parking, I usually park around the corner. I came here one evening a little late. I showed up at the door at around 8. They still had their open sign on so I walked in. They were counting the money and closing up when I appeared in front of them but they gladly took my order, packed my sandwich with veggies and handed it to me with a smile. They did the same for the guy that walked in after me also. 5 stars for service with a smile, flexible on the hours of operations and phat sandwiches. Hope they keep up the great attitude, service and quality.

Unilocal Challenge 365 #182/365 Don’t ever believe that«a Subway is a Subway»… and they are alike because they are NOT. I would have given them at least another star for the food(how can you screw up a sandwich?) but I just could not. Here is my story: First of all this location is closest to my office and PARKING is AVAILABLE.(a rare thing in downtown Honolulu) but even the parking could not earn another star. It’s about 10:30 in the morning… I walk in for 5 foot long sandwiches to be cut into thirds and placed in their party platter. I am the ONLY one in the store and there are THREE employees behind the counter. I give them my order and the first comment was«You should have called in this order, party platters require 24 hours notice» WHAT? How difficult is it to make 5 sandwiches? I’m not creating a line of patrons, I’m actually giving all three of them some work rather tha for them to stand around and wait for the lunch crowd. The second comment was«we don’t recommend toasting the sandwiches for take out because they will get soggy» I’m thinking HOWLAMECANTHATBE? THESANDWICHWILLGETSOGGYWITHTHEOILANDVINEGARFIRST… Silly girls! The third comment was«It’s $ 3 extra for the party platter… Is that okay?» Now how silly is that? I’ve ordered it, I’m going to pay for it right? Now, if she said the platter is an additional $ 10 or something unreasonable, I might have questioned it.(I learned later that the platter should have been free since I made the minimum order of 5 footlong sandwiches) And their parting comment to me was«Next time, don’t forget you need to order the day ahead or we may not be able to service you…» I turned around, asked her for some napkins, the manager’s name and said” don’t worry, there will be no next time… If I had my way, I’d have you reprimanded for such lousey inexcusable service and LAME comments…“ Okay– I’m off my soap box now…

This is the closet restaurant to my work and that is why i gave it 3 stars. This is just like every other Subway. When they first opened they did not take credit cards, then started taking credit cards but not for purchases under $ 10. Now they take credit cards for any purchases. It is small and seating is outside. If you come at noon, good luck because the lunch crowd is huge.
