Found my go to hair salon when I’m here! Reminds me of my experience in Tokyo, super friendly/​pleasant and knowledgeable staff with services you simply do not find in your typical American salon, such as the head spa… feels so wonderful during and after! What more, prices are super reasonable, especially being in Waikiki!

I had my hair dyed a nice brunette color. The staff were super nice and the price was affordable. I’ll probably go back to get a perm in the near future.

I love how Azuma (and the other salon staff) took the time to ask and study my hair prior to starting the Japanese Straight Perm that I wanted. The quality of service he provided definitely added to how the final product turned out. Azuma also gave provided me with suggestions on how to take care of my hair and what products he would recommend after getting the Japanese Straight Perm. However, he didn’t push me to purchase the products at the salon. I’m looking forward to my next visit with Azuma and other salon staff.

I’ve found my hair salon/​stylist! They remind me of good Japanese salons. Your stylist talks to you carefully about what you want done, hair style goals, etc. My stylist was Kyan-​san — he was very personable and cut my hair very well. I also had my hair Japanese straightened and only time will tell how effective their treatment is but my initial report is a thumbs up. Cost is totally reasonable for the level of service and skill. I would recommend them to anyone in search of a good hairdresser. (FYI I’m fluent Japanese). You can valet park or park in the lot by the Ala Wai Harbor — it’s only $ 1/​hour there.

This place is AWESOME! The staff is all super friendly and welcoming. This new salon is beautifully designed and clean. I recently got my hair cut by Azuma– and I was SO pleased with his service! I showed him a few pictures of the style I wanted and he was able to achieve that look. He was super caring and attentive and spent a good amount of time on my hair. He made me check my hair a couple times to make sure everything looked ok or if I wanted it cut a little more. He also never tried to sell me any products or try to make me spend more money, which was really nice. I have gone to a number of salons and have never been THIS satisfied. Amazing price ($ 35) for an amazing quality haircut. If you’re looking around for a new salon or stylist, I HIGHLY recommend going here to get your hair done! 110% A++

The ilikai hotel is a very nice hotel but the parking is bleh. Thank god soho validates your parking! You can either park in the back and they’ll compensate you or you can do valet for free (though still tip your valet)
Going into the main lobby it’s located to the left down the hall.
Atmosphere: It’s very nice and modern and all the white is gorgeous.
First thoughts: Honestly, it was a bit weird at first because they give you a form to fill out before anything. I felt like I was applying for a job position or something. Some of the questions on it was a bit unnecessary. Though, the questions about how you want your hair styled, hair products you use, any damages to the scalp etc I understand that.
Price: The price is moderate it isn’t cheap like a haircut in China town or super cuts but hey your in a real salon. For me it was 35 for a hair cut and my hair is fairly long, and a 48 dollar chair for a highlight touch up (very reasonable).
I can only review my own hair stylist which is Masa and he is amazing! The only reason I came here in the first place was because he transferred from a different salon to here. Honestly, in high school I received a terrible haircut so bad at super cuts I never wanted to show my face again. I always work hats, and my hair became long and unreasonable. That is until I met this man! The way he works and treats my hair is nothing but the utmost care. I don’t trust anyone else to cut and style my hair but masa and I stand by that. Not only does he take into account my thin hair but he follows everything I want done to my hair to the dot. He also has magic fingers and while getting a hair was the scalp massage and heavenly that I could fall asleep and my problems will whisk away.
Overall: I enjoyed my visit here and will definitely be back. He took a whole 2 hours just focusing on my needs hands down five stars for masa. If you do visit ask for him and say Lance recommended you ;) and ps tip your barber well.
