I am very impressed by our experience & food here. They are very friendly & very professional at the same time. I have a crab & lobster allergy & not only did the manager come to our table, the kitchen manager did. He walked me through the salad bar to make sure I could have everything there. I highly recommend this place & we live in Houston where we are known for our food.

Excellent service! Awesome views of Diamond Head, the white sand beach and clear blue waters right from your table! Don’t miss Happy Hour! Generous pour and casual, relaxing atmosphere make it a perfect place to unwind! Salad bar offers fresh selections! Also make sure you use the buy one and get half off for your dinner entrée! We ordered the cook your own ribeye steak! About 4 – 5 minutes on the grill each side for a steak grilled to perfection! Located in Waikiki!

So, got a «bar» table so not sure who was supposed to serve us, but after a short wait Kayla the bartender came over. She was awesome and took great care of us even though she had the bar and us to serve with no help. Salad bar could have more veggie options.

Fan of the Shore Bird Grilled Mahi sandwich and the location is great. Drinks are okay and service could be a little faster.

I was in Waikiki for my wedding anniversary and had the breakfast and lunch buffet here several times. The food and service are both excellent. The view of the beach and Diamond Head are spectacular! We also came in one night for kareoke which was fun to watch. The happy hour prices are good, as well. Nice place to visit and highly recommended.

Lunch buffet was just plain SAD. The main dishes were meatloaf and some tasteless fish. The salad bar was just ok. They had mac n cheese, chili, and a tofu dish. It’s $ 15.95 for the lunch buffet. I would not recommend this place at all. The best thing about the buffet were the sliced pineapple.

We always love this place but the wait staff seem to hate us and our LOUDNESS. I mean, we usually hop in here after a day in the sun so we’re amped and ready to go with cocktails, french fries, and their café/diner fare for very reasonable prices. But every time we’ve come, it seems as if our waiter/waitress has no sense of humor. Eh, maybe we’re just more obnoxious than I think we are.

Stopped by for a quick bite at lunch time. We were able to sit right by the beach, so we had a great view of Diamondhead. Our server was very friendly & attentive. We ordered the nachos and a couple of burgers and they were all pretty good. If anything, I’d say the prices were on the higher end for burgers, but otherwise it was all good.

This place was recommended to us by a local– our parasailing guide/photographer/captain, so we thought we’d give it a try because it sounded unique. We walked here along the beach from the Hilton Hawaiian, which was a nice walk. Pros: We got to Shore Bird around 4:30 and were seated immediately. The layout of the place is pretty cool. Right on the water with huge, huge windows that remained open to give the place an open aired feel. We sat right by a window and it was awesome– but even if you were seated towards the back of the place, I imagine you would still get the open air concept. All you can eat salad bar. Unique, cool idea of having patrons season and BBQ their own meats. I got the ahi tuna skewers– and they were delicious. I like my tuna a LITTLE more cooked than typical«searing» cooks it, so it was also nice to be able to cook the meat how I like it. Our server was VERY kind. I left my purse on the table when I went to cook my meat, and he put it on the chair for me and covered it up so nothing would be taken. Very, very thoughtful. Price was fine– but we did spend money on some«specialty sides» which I wouldn’t do next time due to the all you can eat salad bar and large entrees. Cons: Sunglasses are a must because, especially at sunset, the sun was glaring in my eyes. The salad bar, though all you can eat, was nothing special. Very few fresh veggies and more packed with obviously previously frozen/mass produced potato and pasta salads and cheeses. I found myself begging for vegetables on this island and I thought I might have found them here, but no such luck. The grill area was VERY hot– on top of a warm spring night. Yuck. I had to step as far away from the grill as possible and even then it was uncomfortably warm. Not to mention having to go near the grill to turn my kabobs… ouch! But– I knew it was grill your own food, so I probably shouldn’t complain. The seasonings were not clearly labeled and also by the hot, hot grill– so when I was attempting to season my meats, I was trying to do it as fast as possible and it was very rushed(and in turn, did not turn out the best) There should be a little more warning about cross contaminating your food– they give you the raw meats on a sheet of wax paper, but leaving the customer to remember on their own that they shouldn’t, for example, take the raw meet off of the parchment paper and put it onto the plate to season it, then grill it and put it back on the same plate, might get them in a little bit of trouble at some point? The atmosphere was a little divey/cluby for my taste of dinner restaurant. I thought it was overall an okay/good experience. 3.5 stars if I could!

Free karaōke and sunset drinks! Inebriated karaōke + boozy fun? Yes! I like this place. Not love. Only because I walk by here countless times on my way to/from the beach. It’s like right there. And they for the longest time had $ 3 mai tais like all day everyday! Now it’s $ 4.50 but it’s still pretty cheap for being on the beach/have that beach view. I’ve been here for late night karaōke(babyyy got whaaaat?!), very early afternoon and too early for happy hour but I’ll drink anyway hours! The earlier the better for drinks here. It’s not bad at all. Dinner time here is a hot mess and a half. I hate lines and crowd and crowd you will have. We’ve tried their«Cook your own food» concept once. Gotta grill your own stuff on a massive grill/grills. It’ll still be doable if it was on your table like that other bbq spot. This, you physcailly have to go to the grills area, cook, check, bring back and eat. All you can eat salad bar comes with the dinner. Not my thing. But it was a fun-ish concept. Drinks on the other hands are fun! I like their blended drinks! Giant glass full of colors and swirls! All creamy, cold and rum filled. It’s like dessert in a tall glass! Total fun zone!!! Woot woot. And you meet the most random/interesting people here during the day. Just having a drink and chatting up with everyone. Bartenders are usually very friendly. People are pretty friendly. I still cant ever finish their mai tais(holy booze) but I love the blended drinks! And that view isn’t too shabby either!

Came here expecting the whole shabang but I didn’t know that their dinner process thing only begins at 4. I got there at around noon on Easter and at that time, only their regular lunch menu is served. I was pretty disappointed but looking at their regular menu it wasn’t that bad. I ended up getting the mushroom burger. It came with salad and also a pickle and pepper on the side. Overall despite the let down, I was satisfied with what I got that morning.

Shore Bird Breakfast(went a few times) Buffet is good and fresh. Service is polite, but a tad slow. Prices are very reasonable. Mimosa — $ 4.00. Wow! That’s cheap, even for my home state of Kentucky! Open dining, and there are tables that are oceanfront. Very nice! Lunch We ate lunch here a couple of times. Buffet was slightly above average, had decent selection. Went one night late when they had karaōke. Between 10 pm-12a.m. they have a special menu. Service was good, and so was the food. I had kalua pork sliders with fries. Atmosphere was very loud, and it had taken on more of a club atmosphere. Lights were very low with only candles lit on tables. Went another night for dinner and this is where I have a complaint. We had spent the entire day out and our last meal had been 10 hours prior. We were super tired and hungry, so elected to not go out. We just stayed in the hotel so we could go directly up to our room after eating. It was a fri night, so was understandably crowded. We had a 45 minute wait for a table. During this time, we studied the menu posted on the wall, in very low light conditions(seems to be the norm at night). Oh yum, they have steak. I sit and wait, thinking of how we were gonna eat steak and pay more than we normally would. Finally get to a table and are told that dinners are«community grilling». Whatever you order, you have to go cook on some large grill they’ve set out. I asked if we *had* to cook our own? Is this optional? No. It isn’t. Listen, I get that this may be a fun thing for many people. If I hadn’t already had a 15 hour day, with only one meal late morning, I may have been up for this. And I don’t fault them for making this what their dinner is about. My issue was this: I saw nothing indicating that this was how dinner was done. They have a dinner menu posted. Your usual menu, with steak and chicken and kabobs and prices listed. If it’s there that you must cook your own, it’s certainly NOT prominent. Add that to reading the posted menu in extremely low light. Managers, please… make this OBVIOUS. You may do it every night and assume others know this is how dinner is done at the Shore Bird. I would imagine that most people visiting are tourists and DON’T know this. I was NOT very happy after having waited for a table, starving, to find this out. I was in no mood to cook my own food in general, but to add to that… you’re still charging regular restaurant service prices and expecting a tip for servers. I go to a restaurant and pay the prices there to have my food cooked and served, not to pay to cook my own. At least give people notice on your menu, or on that little board you write things on at the entrance, what they’re walking into. Especially if they’re going to be waiting for a table. We could have used that time to go elsewhere.

This is a pretty simple beachside restaurant with a nice open front to see the ocean. Nothing special about the food. Nothing on the menu jumped out at me so I got the all you can eat buffet for $ 16. It was ok. Pretty limited choices but what was there was standard quality. Service was a little slow, otherwise good. Great view though.

My coworker recommended Shore Bird for dinner saying how fun it would be and how good the food was. We all quickly agreed to go there and made reservations for our group. For larger groups, they need to call you back to confirm. The idea of grilling your own food sounded fun till you have to execute it. The restaurant is located in Outrigger on Kalia Road. You can valet and they validate your parking for dining there. There is no self park option according to the restaurant. You can park in the big pay to park lot next to the hotel if you don’t want to valet. We chose valet and the attendant didn’t give us a ticket after we asked for one which worried us. The attendant just said come see me after dinner. Not sure if this is normal and the attendant wasn’t there after dinner but luckily our car was. When you enter the restaurant in the back of the hotel, you’ll notice that it’s very loud and very dimly lit. It’s very hard to see or hear anything on the table. Everyone had to use the light from their phones to read the menu. Some used it to eat. It felt like we were yelling so we could talk to each other. Our server was good, she kept checking in on us and was able to split the bill for the large group which was nice. The food was bland and nothing special. People come so that they can grill their own meat but it’s not fun at all. The area around the grills were very hot and smokey. It was unbearable at times. Seasonings were limited and didn’t do much to the steaks aside from making it salty. There wasn’t much flavor but thankfully they had A1. The salad bar was ok but it was AYCE. I feel that the prices here are a little pricey for what you get. I would rather pay a little more and have better cuts of meat cooked and served to me. Drinks were also on the pricey side but that’s expected in Waikiki. Overall, it was an experience and the location is great if you dine here for sunset. Personally, I probably won’t be coming back again.

Did you say, «dinner on the beach at sunset»?? I’m therrrrrrrre! Awesome food. Awesome drinks. Awesome view of Diamond Head(it’s currently nice and green!), Waikiki Beach, and the sunset. I’ve been to Shorebird Grill at least a half a dozen times and always walk away as a happy customer. Today, we decided to bring our guest from out of town and to take advantage of the«Sunset Special»: ½lb sirloin steak and all-u-can eat salad bar for $ 19.99 valid 4−6pm. What a deal. WHAT A DEAL! Follow them on Instagram at shorebirdwaikiki, too!!! That’s how I learned about the special. Also, they’ve reposted one of my family photos on their page, so I think they’re super cool like that! The ½lb(8oz) portion of USDA sirloin steak was a perfect serving for me and the three big guys that tagged along. Your server will bring the raw meat to your table, so you can personally grill the steak to your liking(with all the spices you like). The community grill is off to the east side of the restaurant with a great view of Diamond Head. Yep, this is what makes Shorebird unique. Just make sure you keep an eye out and be careful not to burn your food. The grill is HOT! There’s also a chef standing by to assist. The salad bar consisted of iceberg lettuce, Caesar salad, alfalfa sprouts, red onions, tomatoes, pineapple, kimchee, chilled couscous, hot couscous with mushrooms, pasta, bread, and chili. You must try the Papaya dressing! Our server was nice, friendly and efficient. The sunset views were amazing. We walked right in and got a table closest to the open window. Top it off with a Mai Tai for $ 4 and no more worries while you’re in paradise. Outrigger Reef Waikiki offers parking at $ 6 with validation from the restaurant.

Getting a table here as a walk in is as quick as a snail walking backwards on a turtle going forward! Reservation, reservation, make sure you have a reservation! We arrived at around 4pm, and we finally got a table by the bar at around 730pm. This is a great concept of do it yourself grilling, which I’m sure cuts out 75% of typical complaints at any other restaurant. If your food sucks, you only have yourself to blame. Our Ribeye cuts($ 31.95 each) were served up in raw slabs and we had the option to season them ourselves. Don’t worry, for those of you that are challenged like myself on the culinary front, there is a pro at the grill to advise you as to what to do. The all you can eat buffet that comes with every entrée, will stuff you full before your meat is ready, so you’ll have plenty of left overs for tomorrows lunch or a nice treat for the dogs! Drinks are typical Waikiki prices at $ 9 for a shot/cocktail/glass of wine. I thoroughly enjoyed my Cataraman cocktail, which probably had 50grams of sugar in it and 500 calories. Never understood it of why no one in the Waikiki area hasn’t come up with good low cal, cocktails. We need to give a big shout out to our server Brynn, she was awesome in looking out for better tables to move us to, and kept the drinks flowing so we didn’t notice the time. Be prepared to come out of here smelling like you’ve been to a restaurant in one of those states that has not yet banned indoor smoking. The smoke from the do it yourself grill, settles into everything on and with you.

Very nice restaurant with a view that kills… looks out onto the Pacific Ocean… can you say paradise. This little restaurant is in the Outrigger Reef hotel right on the ocean… this place being right at the back where the water laps the sandy beach. And the food was reasonable also. We tried the breakfast buffet and were pleasantly surprised. The buffet has tons of offerings and all the breakfast usuals. The food was replenished often and was very fresh. Loads of breakfast meats and of course more pineapple than you can shake a stick at. Fresh food, fresh fruit, and eat all you can… all-in-all a recipe for greatness. Remember to take a look at your coupon books because this place usually has a two for one offer. The breakfast is very nice and if you are staying at the Outrigger Reef it is located just an elevator ride away. This place is worth a visit.
