Cradled in the arms of bookstore giant Borders, Seattle’s Best provides a nice resting spot for shoppers in the Ward Center. From opening till closing, the place will be packed with reading, studying, and wifi-bumming patrons. The facility is kept very clean, the temperature is comfortable, and regardless of how full the café might be, the seating area is actually pretty spacious. Staff is always cheerful, and coffee service is prompt. Presentation is… well, a coffee in a cup. However, I’ll have to make specific note of the hot chocolate, fancifully prepared with whipped cream, chocolate sticks, chocolate sauce, and whatever other pickins you might request. Coffee goes for about $ 2-$ 4, served in the same fashion as Starbuck’s: Paper cup with cardboard holder. If you want a seat indoors, you’d be hard-pressed to find an open table from 2pm-8pm. Also, wifi isn’t as responsive nor as quick as would be nice, but something is always better than nothing.

I have been here a few times, but have not tried any of their espresso drinks. Each time I’ve went, I’ve ordered just a black cup of coffee. I’ve had a rather enjoyable experience each time I’ve went, their pastries are decent, from what I’ve had. Nothing wrong with them, they’re priced quite well, they just don’t knock my socks off. LOVE the fact that you can use their free wifi all day. That’s what keeps me coming back. Plus there is plenty of comfortable places to relax in there. Id say give it a go, its not expensive.

I actually really like this Seattle’s Best… way better than the one in Waipio Gentry. I come here a lot to do homework if I don’t want to drive home in traffic. I’ve always gotten really good service. The only downside is that when it hits finals time… there’s no room :( As for the coffee, it’s nothing special. Just like Starbucks is nothing special. It’s generic coffee. But… I must say that their teas are amazing. I think it’s almost better than Starbucks teas. I like sitting on the lanai doing homework. I want to say that they have free wifi, but I could be wrong. I never bring my computer with me –_–

What is it about chains that just can’t provide a decent cup of latte??? Why? Starbucks failed. Peets failed. Tully’s terribly failed. Coffee Bean & Tea leaf is so-so. And now, Seattle’s Best failed. Blue Bottle Coffee Company, I beg you to puhleeasseeee come to Honolulu. Anyways, their slogan is «uncommonly smooth.» Yes, it’s just soooo smooth that all you taste is the skim milk. Throughout drinking the entire cup, I tried my best to hunt down for the flavors of the latte. I just tasted small grinds of the coffee beans on the last sip. Not a good sign at all. Also, I tried the coffee cake which was dry. Next time I go to Borders, I’m just gonna buy my latte & pastry at Satura cakes.
