4 stars is well deserved. Clean food. Can I say that again? Clean food. Salads are superb, soups are great. This place deserves to be bought out and turned into a major restaurant chain.

Best soup and salads ever! Half and half with all chips on the side is my fave! Uncle is really nice too and super fast service even when it’s busy.

This is the place to come for a soup and salad combo Downtown. Both locations are popular with the lunch crowd, but even if there is a line you won’t wait long as the person running this shop is efficient, organized, attentive, and totally gets what the Downtown lunch crowd wants: quality healthy food at an affordable price five minutes ago.

3-stars because the two soups I’ve tried so far, Tortilla & Italian Sausage and Potato have been super spicy .both had me coughing after the first spoonful and reaching for water. Couldn’t finish either of them. Side salad and sourdough bread are good. Will try the soups at their Bishop Street location to see if any better.

Always ordered salads but today I decided to try the soups. Today I tried the tortilla soup and I was not disappointed. It was flavorful, seasoned right with chockfull of shredded chicken, tortilla chips and topped with sour cream, cheese and fresh cilantro. Will try the rest of the soup next!

I ate here 3 days in a row. This is how it works: they make their salads up fresh in advance in the morning. They put them in the display counter. When you can’t see any more salads, they’re sold out. If you go at 1PM they’re going to be almost sold out. If the soup and salad sign is not on the counter, they’re sold out of the small salad for that combo(but still have soup). Everybody seemed to be ordering the tortilla soup so I tried that one day in the soup/salad combo and it was delicious, the cup is pre-loaded with cheese and sour cream to speed up service so you have to stir it up. The regular big salads are mostly $ 6-$ 7 including chicken, only one goes up to $ 10 with salmon. They’re HUGE and fresh and delicious with no iceberg lettuce in sight, all romaine and red leaf lettuce, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, apple, etc depending on variation. Fantastic deal for a pretty healthy meal, great fast thoughtful service, it’s a very impressive operation.

GREATDEALFORFRESHFUNSALADS! Located in the center of the building almost across Fisher Hawaii Downtown on the inside of the street next to the park area. There’s an opening/walkway in the building across Fisher Hawaii that leads to the park area side of the building and this salad place is on your right one store up to the right. Think really nice hole in the wall, dark brown walnut walls with glass and stainless refrigerated counter. The menu board is above behind the refrigerated counter. Salad here is crunchy, fresh, and delicious full of romaine lettuce(not just«boring» iceberg lettuce — yay :)) and for a little more than $ 6 for a salad without meat, it’s a great deal especially if you don’t have time to make the salad at home. Only thing is I wished it had more oblong cherry roma tomatoes instead of just 5. Salads with meat(chicken) vary in price from upward of $ 8 – 9. [Btw, on the street side of the building this place is in is another restaurant place called Umke Market. Now that definitely is not place to go for a salad. Very extremely pricey for only a very small container! :(] I try to stay away from beef, chicken, and pork and initially was looking to make a mandarin orange(without chicken) + tomato salad(without tofu although I do love tofu) but the guy said he just finished making all of the salads for the day so instead, I ordered a tofu salad with their Hawaiian Ginger, Balsamic, & Vinegar dressing for $ 6 and some change. Salad Dressing — I was actually just wanting the balsamic and vinegar but the guy enticed me into giving the Hawaiian ginger version a try. I’m glad I tried it. It wasn’t bad but for me, I would say just stick with the Balsamic & Vinegar if you’re like me and not much of a fan of ginger in your salad. As for making my own salad, he said to let them know in the early morning next time so they can create the salad I want. Great place for an uncomplicated salad that’s not a boring salad! Yes, I’d definitely come here again and again! :)

Gah! I just realized that I wrote my review for the wrong location! So here it is… I’ve been here only twice so far; and ate the same things both times, but the quality of food and service is soo good! I’ve only had their soup & salad special with tomato basil soup, but the salad was super fresh & crisp both times! There were absolutely no brown yucky pieces of lettuce in the container! Very impressive. The soup is always fresh and hot & paired with your choice of bread? Yums! The man who works there is speedy and efficient! Very on top of everything — he’s taking your order while the person in front of you is getting the money out of their wallet! I hope he’s not the only one working there though — that would be a lot of hard work for one person.

Eating healthy can be a bit challenging when working in the downtown area. It was such a relief to find San Francisco Salad near by. They offer a variety of salads and even have some tasty soups that you can add. They are all prepped and ready to go. You get fast and friendly service! San Francisco Salad has contributed to help me lose about 20lbs in a course of about 6 months last year and I am forever grateful to them. When I am ono for salad they are the first place that I think about. The salad of choice would be the Pacific Heights. It’s the perfect combination of greens(lettuce & spinach) with those cute little tomatoes and cucumbers and some chicken that is spiced up. You have a variety of dressings to choose from but my main dressing that I stick to would have to be the Hawaiian Balsamic Dressing. I really do love going here and would recommend anyone who is looking for a healthy choice of eating.

When I need to detox and get health, San Francisco Salad is where I head to for lunch. I enjoy their array of salads with my faves being the Grant Avenue(their version of Chinese Chicken Salad) and the South of Market(grilled chicken with fuji apples). They also have a variety of dressing, but I love that they’ll give recommendations based on the salad you’re having. Now, as much as I adore their salads, it’s their soups that keep me coming back — especially during raining and chilly days. My absolute favorite is the Tortilla Soup — it’s just spicy enough with lots of shredded chicken and tortilla strips that soften and thicken the tomato based soup. I always ask for extra cilantro with it too. When I want go a bit more vegetarian, the Tomato Bisque is my choice. The lines can get a bit long so I recommend going early during the lunch hour. If you go late, they may run out of their more popular soups and salads.

My go to spot when I need something quick to eat for lunch. The tomato bisque & tortilla soup are awesome! Very flavorful and served hot with your choice of bread. I usually have a hard time deciding between the two. The salads are great as well, and filling for a salad. There are two locations, one in Pioneer Plaza and the other is next to Harpos. They make all of the soups and salads the day of(or day before, not 100% sure) and when they run out at the Pioneer Plaza location they bring some over from their main shop near Harpos. The owner works there everyday, and he’s quick. If you see a line, DON’T WORRYABOUTIT, this guy is speedy gonzales when it comes to ringing up customers and keeping the line down. I love it, especially during the downtown lunch rush. What more could you ask for?

9.6.13. I think I’ve said it before, I’m really not a salad girl. Buuut upon asking for food suggestions, I couldn’t just ignore this highly recommended place from a friend. Of course he was a little biased since he formerly worked here for a summer, but I’m so glad that I took his advice! Being the non-adventurous, disliking-being-out-of-my-comfort-zone personality, I went for the boring Caesar salad option.(All salads are cleverly named after San Francisco references, mostly streets I believe). But, boy this salad was not boring at all! The salad portion was HUGE… but I ended up eating all of it! The chicken – DELISH! & seasoned perfectly! …and last but not least the dressing – oh so amazing – creamy, flavorful & just right for the amount of lettuce. I’m not sure if I’m brave enough to branch out to try any of the other exotic salad choices but I’m def interested in the salad + soup combo… Unilocal 365 Challenge: #248/365

Was feeling under the weather and honestly just wanted something that would be easy on my stomach. In search for soup — I found San Francisco Salad. It was lunchtime in downtown so of course there is line s everywhere. Luckily the line was moving at a relatively decent pace so I did not mind at all. Decided to go with the Tomato Bisque soup :) The soup was tasty and I love the fresh cilantro inside! Definitely plan to come try more stuff here!

For a quick salad, this is a great place to go. They have several pre-made options, which makes it MUCH faster than many other places, but don’t come too late or they will be sold out. The salads are all fresh, the dressings are good, and the toppings choices are enough so you aren’t eating the same thing every day. The portions are also fairly good, and the prices are cheap as well. I really like the chicken they use as it is always tender and not dried out like a lot of salad places, and goes great in the Cesar and Greek salads.

This is one place that the line is well worth the food you get. Everything is sooo fresh! Many different selections for salad and soups. My fave is the Chicken tortilla soup. It has sour cream and cilantro in it, so tasty! Your soups come with choice of bread(french, sourdough, ciabatta) If you get there early enough, you can get the soup and salad combo for $ 7.85. But he only has a set amount of those combos, so once they are gone, they are gone. Get there early(before 12:30) if you want to take advantage of that special.

I’ve seen this place ever since I started working in Down Town and I’ve been in Down Town for many years! I remember when they were first at that stand on the corner closer to the sidewalk on Fort Street Mall but now they located into a space inside next to The Cookie Corner. I remember the line would go for miles for people queued up to get their Soup and salad. So when there is a line for miles during lunch, YOu know it has to be good! They now have two locations. The original one at Pioneer Plaza and another one next to Jack In the Box at Tamrind Square I believe. Eric is a one man show at the Fort Street Café location but It looks like he recently hired a helper to help him. Eric is super nice and chatty when he can especially at the time I go which is after 2pm cause thats normally when its my lunch break. Everyone talks about the other tomato soup but for me, my number one soupe from them is the Italian Sausage soup. It has some spinach in it and nice amount of flavor from the spices and seasoning he uses and also the sausage and potatoes pulls it all together for a very very delicious lunch. It comes with a slice of french bread for the large size and for me, the soup and bread for lunch gets me full and carries me until dinner time. Eric most defiantly puts something in the soup cause If i dont eat it for lunch at lteast 3 – 4 times a week. i fiend for it! Oh and I almost forgot to mention the house dressing he makes is one of the best dressing I have tasted ever. I wonder if he is willing to sell it on the side. San Francisco Salad company has a customer life, thats for sure!

I have my days. Sometimes, I crave for salad. Usually I like salad with a lot of taste and add ons. I’ve tried San Francisco Salad Co. salad and I don’t really like it. The lettuce isn’t cut finely enough for me. I preferred my lettuce cut into small pieces. The chicken is always soo dry. I just never seem to like any of the salads I order from there. I do love the names of the salad. Market Place. Pacific Heights. Cute names. Now, the soup is what I enjoy from San Francisco Salad Co. Tortilla soup has minced chicken and basil in it. There’s a little kick to it, too. Recently, they also came out with another soup called Spinach Italian Sausage. There’s potatoes, spinach, and italian sausage in it. YUM! I love both of these soup. Goes nicely with sourdough bread with butter. :) Small soup with bread is $ 4.17. Good price for a small healthy lunch.
