Richard’s Meat Market

One of the things I miss about New York (well, I sorta miss everything, but this is certainly up there) is that it seemed like there was a deli or an artisan meat market or just a neighborhood butcher shop on every block.
Ya know how you go to Costco and sometimes you walk around just sampling stuff and then you walk out feeling like you ate a whole meal. (not that I’ve ever done that, of course. lol)
I remember having that exact same feeling around NYC a few times (and ya kinda gotta get outta midtown to do it) just walking through the village or chelsea or brooklyn or even some parts of queens, just sampling some of the best cured and smoked meat I’ve ever had.
And so when I moved back to the rock, it dawned on me that we don’t really have any meat markets. I mean, I guess you take what you can get, right? We have the most amazing poke in the world… so I think that’s a fair trade. But meat markets? Not really!
Anyways, enough of the novel. Needless to say, I was stoked to stumble across this place. Now don’t get me wrong — it’s not a traditional artisan meat market like you’d expect on the lower east side. But it is a place you can go to for all of your carnivore cravings. My nephew recently had his first birthday, and I was in charge of the menu (well, at least the «meat» side of the menu). So I had pork butt, brisket, chicken, steaks, sausage (ya know, the five food groups) on the menu. This was my one-​stop-​shop for buying a rather large quantity of relatively inexpensive meat, in bulk.
I’ll definitely come back to this place. It’s helps to quell some of my inner-​caveman cravings!

This place is meat city literally. They have EVERYTHING you need for meat. My hubby comes here every week to get everything they need for work. The workers here are okay, they always fix anything they screw up with my bf’s order. The parking lot is pretty small. The guys who bring out the meat are cool, they help load up the all the meat so we can leave ASAP. I recommend this place for anyone who needs A LOT of meat at a reasonable price.

They made a mistake on our bill but we pointed it out and they fixed it without any problems. always good service and helpful workers even the parking lot guy is cool throwing them shakas. small kind carshow with the employees rides.

My accupuncturist recommended that I get a black silkie chicken to make soup with. I said where in the heck would I get that? She recommended that I go here, which to my suprise did carry the frozen silke chicken. I think my husband paid $ 15.00 for it, which I thought was kind of expensive. Yet, after giving it some thought I thought the price was fair.
We made a chicken soup which wasn’t too bad to consume. I don’t know what else they carry here, since my husband ran out to get it. So I hope to update this review one day soon, when I get another chance to go there.
