I miss this place. A LOT. Same management now runs DASH Gastropub. Check ‘em out!

But like all good things… must come to an end. Looks like the place closed up shop already! Just like the name says… it was a good place to remedy yourself after a loooong day. This is another bar in Kalihi and one of few that is not a «Korean» bar! Although, I believe the bar below is a «Korean» bar based on the plethora of older ladies hanging outside chain smoking. Well hopefully, someone else picks up where hey left off!

Update… Remedy is gone :(They closed down a couple weeks ago! First came with here with my gf to meet some of her friends. Now I come once in a while with my FedEx co workers after work on Thursday usually. Great inexpensive food menu til 1245am. Chill, friendly waitresses who always keep a smile on their face . They have a karaōke room, darts, and a crappy pool table lol. My fave the 6 Dolla pitchers of coors light we usually get. Plus they always put shot specials for cheap. Fyi… they don’t get mad when we are usually loud and silly: P

went 2 nights ago and it wasn’t what i expected — based on reviews and comments from friends, i thought it would be a clean place with lots of artwork, etc. But instead, there were only paintings on the wall by the entrance — and once you get into the main lounge area, it reminds me of a café at an old bowling ally. Lets just say the interior matches the exterior of the area(Kalihi) It was fine, the crowd there was good, etc. But just wasn’t what I expected.

I realize I have to be a fan of this place because I seem to find myself there more than just«A-OK» worthy. Best times to go: My friend and I always hit this place up right after work around 5pm, being it’s just down the street from her job. Parking is always available. We always find tons of open seating to pick from, they have good drinks and good food(I’m not hard to please). No need to dress up; I’m a girl who loves her chucks! Anywhere I can get in with that, I’m all good. Service is attentive and friendly. Their nachos come with no beans, which I enjoy. Nothing to really complain about. Oh… except the combo appetizer…11 bucks for 6 skinny spring rolls and 2 crab balls. No way, get outta town! Sorry, I will pass on that. Why the 4 not the 5?. Like I mention prior, the service is usually good, but there’ve been times where both drinks and service, I’m like, «WOW. Really, what the heck happened?» to the point that I’m blaming my current company that it’s HER and she’s cursed me with bad service and drinks — every time I go with my other friend, we’re totally taken care of.

Went there on a Saturday afternoon after work(330pm-ish). The door was wide open, but supposedly they weren’t opened for business yet. They were however open for the football game, which in my world translates as «Open for your business». Apparently they open at 6-ish on Saturdays. Regardless, they let us in and we just hung out and drank beer and took shots until the cook showed up. The atmosphere is very chill, as in, everyone and anyone is welcome here. You don’t need to look a certain way or put on a façade to be accepted in this place. The Bartender was friendly and so were the other patrons, whom I assume are regulars. When the cook showed up, we ordered the nachos. They were huge, but my boyfriend and I were starving and we ate it all up. I heard the Monte Cristo is supposed to be a real winner as well. Next time I’ll be sure to try that. Though they do serve your standard bar food, which we all hate to love so much, their menu has everything from tator tots to steamed snapper! I would have given this place 5 stars, but I had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting and experiencing their bathrooms. Now I’m hardly picky about restrooms, but when one toilet is backed up and the other looks like someone took a dump ON the toilet and not in it… I think I can be picky and totally disgusted. That and the parking is sort of a drag because you have to park on the street.

awesome place!!! Grayson cooks up some mean food, the steak is wicked good. Lysh and Jaci take care of your liquid needs. we go Fri. or Sat. cause it’s not as crowded but for you younger people Thurs. is your night. being in Kalihi is kinda out of the way for most people, but stop by and enjoy the friendly staff, ono food and drinks…

Unilocal seriously needs a HALF star system implemented! In my opinion this place is 3.5 stars. Sure the place is «sorta» unique and pretty much has anything you need in terms of a chill night out. It’s got awesome urban art all over the walls! Different styles of music on different nights. Nice comfy couches and furniture that matches the eclectic vibe of the place. Huge TVs viewable from any angle(whether you’re playing pool, darts, or sitting at the bar, pretty much no matter where you’re at, you’ll always have an easy view of a TV). All this adds up to a very cool place to chill, but something was missing in my opinion… Was it the service? Nope, they’re all really nice people. They’re even down to take a drink with you!(Not in the«buy-me-drinky» sense, if that’s your thing, there’s something like that down stairs). Was it the food? Sort of, I mean the Meatloaf Loco Moco was a nice twist on the local favorite, but the food was relying more on the unique twist rather than doing anything purely original. The meatloaf was meatloaf, the gravy was gravy, take them as separate parts and there’s nothing special about the two parts individually. The Loaded Nachos were the same thing, can chili + box nacho cheese + run of the mill chips. In there defense though, it was pretty good bar food. Was it the place? Yeah it was a little, here’s the thing. If you’re going for that urban hipster feel, go all the way. Sure the walls are covered in art. But that’s where the urban flavor stops. The rest of the place is a regular bar. I understand that financial concerns are probably the limitations, but if you’re going to do a theme, do it big in my opinion. Put up some dunny/vinyl character displays. Throw in a unique looking menu. Concoct some crazy named drinks and menu items that match the theme. Go with a monthly artist, do in house shows/releases, throw down some battles. Do collabos with split obsession, stussy, whatever! Just do something a lot more unique than a bar with urban art on the walls. I enjoyed the art for about 5 minutes, and then I realized that this place wasn’t as unique as I would hope.

On Friday it gets pretty busy =) really chill enviornment. Domestic beer is $ 3 so for me drinking is cheap. They also have«electronic dance music Mondays» where they throw down some trance/discotech music. A good venue to come chill with good friends without the hustle and bustle of your average club =)

Great atmosphere in here. Clean on the inside and there’s lots of cool artwork all over the place. The only problem is that it’s located in Kalihi… it would have been great if it was in town. They have TV’s, Pool Tables, and dartboards and a karaōke room to keep you busy. From now on they’re gonna be playing trance music on Mondays… went this past Monday and it was awesome! The food here is good: Nachos — These are good and huge, I’d say you need at least 2 people to eat them. Monte Cristo Sandwich — I think it’s turkey and cheese in a sort of french bread that even has the powdered sugar on it. Doesn’t sound good but it tastes good. Meatloaf Loco Moco — I love meat loaf and I love loco mocos… never had the two together before but this was yummy. I’m surprised they don’t have these at other places. Sweet Potato Fries — Pretty good, i’d compare them with the ones from The Counter. Furikake Mushrooms — These are alright, a tempura mushroom with furikake on it. I still miss the one’s from DnB… can’t believe they got rid of those =(

love it! they have an industry night thingy where its 20% off your total tab! awesomeness! food was yummy! they also have darts… but i was toooo drunk to play :( drinks are great! none of that weak shiznit! service was on point! totally would go here again! BUT don’t be like my friend and park in the front of the bar where it obviously states«no parking anytime» or else you will find that your car has been towed! p. s. the ONLY downside… walking down 20 or so stairs when you are no longer able to see straight… hahahhah

Love Remedy’s chill atmosphere. Booth style seats(and couches), lots of TVs, A/C blasting, graffiti and art gracing the walls, and a good variation of music playing. Parking along Kohou St. is plentiful. Food here, although a little pricier compared to other bars, is good. The pork chops were juicy and I would recommend them.

It was my first time here last night, and it was pretty good! We headed for Remedy after Unilocal’s First Burstday and was pretty excited, since the guy at the Remedy tent was really nice, passed out 20% entire tab cards, and knew what party we were going there for! Anyway, we get there around 10 and there was already a small crowd inside, which is a good sign! I like the artwork that’s all over the place; from the entrance downstairs, to all over the walls upstairs! Very cool, I especially love the Angry Woebots and want a few pieces VERYBADLY. Our friends are at a booth by the DJ and pool tables, and as soon as we sit, a waitress comes and asks if we want anything… we’re impressed! We start drinking and more friends arrive… but our once attentive waitress is nowhere to be found. My BF already got some shots at the bar and started a tab there, so he ended up being our drink runner all night. Seriously — a friend ordered a Miller Light and the girl never came back with it till about half an hour later! It did get crowded, but still… half an hour?! So we already sampled the Monte Cristo Sandwich at the Unilocal party, and Virginia C. was getting the munchies so we decided to try the Yakisoba. It took awhile, and when it came — it was oily and salty… just right for already being a little buzzed from the Unilocal party and 3 drinks and a shot in at Remedy! Others also had fries, nachos, & mozzarella sticks. I had a few fries, but didn’t try anything else — it all looked really good though! All in all, it was a good time and next trip there — I will try to sample more food!

Came here on a thursday nite between happy hour and late nite and the bartender gave us our first round on happy hour. He then asked us if we worked in the industry and since both of us were former industry workers he gave us an industry discount on top of that. SWEET! 4 beers and 5 shots of jameson’s later this bartender had become our best friend. Their special that nite was kalua pig nachos, so yeah we ordered that. and they were not as advertised. I didn’t recall the words«mountain, hill, or monument» anywhere in the name but that’s what it was. a huge freaking 12-car pileup of nacho cheese, chips, jalapenos, salsa, sour cream, and kalua pig. NOMNOMNOM! Pool, dart boards, mega touch, full bar, great food. definitely will be back here soon!

Remedy. I love how drinking is equated with medicinal names. Lol. Anyways my grad school cohort wanted to take me and my fiancé out to pre-party. I have to admit, it is across the stream where there may be some strangling crackheads by HCC but when you get in there its pretty decent. Of course I love the graffiti décor and the place was clean. The pupus were pretty decent too. I was oh so totally bussed. Never again will I mix New Castle’s with Patron and Grey Goose shots. Overall good experience and chill atmosphere. P. S. Try not to sit next to the AC that screeches through the night.

LoL, I like how everyone’s afraid of the area. I remember when it was Tondo Tondo, so a thought of a new bar here was kinda iffy. But when you walk in, you get a different feel to it. Nice arts on the walls, and everyone is having a chillin great time. So far, when I went, wasn’t afraid of anyone picking a fight, so at least you know the clientele there aren’t punks. The food is great! Loved their nachos! The bathrooms are gross though… other than that, it’s a great sports bar with a chill atmosphere. Hopefully they’ll start having themed nights or something. I hear Thursdays there are live bands.

Was alittle sceptical about the area, but once u get inside you’ll forget about the area. Pretty reasonable drink prices, awesome atmosphere with alot of «street» type graffiti mural’s, dart boards, pool tables, lounge sofas as well as booths… Pretty big place. Came here on a wed night and it was packed. Parking was no issue, plenty parking in their lot as well as on the street(but i dunno bout street parking along the canal, kinda scary). We sat on the bar and the bartender’s were very attentive. Food, not much that can be said bout that… its edible i guess. Nothing to rave about… Would definately go back for drinks and to chill.

Still loving it! I came again for a friend’s birthday. I had so much drunken fun that all of us playing team darts ran out of turns since we started sucking after a while lol. The food was good, I got to try a lot more selections. The bathrooms are kinda creepy because when you flush, a screeching sound will come up that sounds like a cat being murdered. No worries, I’m sure most people would be too drunk to notice :) Still very chill and still something different.

So I swear I thought I read a couple reviews from this bar already, but I couldn’t find it on here. So I love this place, it’s my new spot. The food is hella good too! We ordered hella off their menu and the price for their food is not badly priced either. The food there is like… bar food but they made it taste so much better. Hahahaa, so I ordered their sweet and spicy wings which were huge and it was so worth the price… I think they were $ 9. My bad if it’s not $ 9. We also had these furikake deep fried mushrooms which were awesome also… oh man, everything we got was great. We also got the lamb chops and the jalapeño poppers. MMMmmmm… I also like this place because I don’t have to drive all the way to town and there’s hella parking right outside of the bar. I liked the setting inside also, it’s chill and hella urban art on the walls. I went there on a Sunday night so it wasn’t busy, which was nice and their drinks there are really good also! So you just ask them to make anything you want and they’ll make it. It’s great. There’s also a lot of things to do there, they have a couple pool tables, dart boards, and a lot of comfortable seating, they have karaōke and they even have movie night. Totally love this place.

Remedy is located on Kahou street, which runs along the river near HCC. It’s the same street that Ideta’s is on, just further down. You can’t exactly see Remedy from the street(unless you know what to look for), but you’ll see a parking lot next to a two story building. On the first floor, you’ll see a neon sign for«1st Time» Bar. Remedy is located on the second floor of that same building, so just park in that lot. I didn’t know what to expect because of its location, but the inside of Remedy is pretty clean, low key and relatively trendy. The walls are decorated with art from local artists, there are two pool tables, mega-touch games at several of the booths, a small karaōke room, and an area for darts. There are three reasons why you’ve love Remedy: 1) Titus’ amazingly delicious and different cocktails 2) Local style comfort food and 3) it’s a place where you can chill with your friends without feeling the need to dress up or act a certain way. I like going to Remedy during off-peak hours because then you’ll have your choice of booth, not to mention it’s not too loud where you have to shout over your friends. The staff, so far, have been really friendly and attentive. Remedy is really just a place to hang out and enjoy yourself, a good way to end a tiring work week.
