Quince

This is a great place to shop for colorful and unique home décor stuff. You won’t find merchandise like this in big department or discount stores. The owner will even throw in some interior design advice. Easy parking.

Quince is one of my favorite new stores! It’s tucked away in the back of a parking lot right behind the Starbucks in Kaka’ako, so it’s not the easiest to find — but I assure you, if you make the effort to find it, you will NOT be disappointed! A great time to check it out is during the popular Honolulu Night Market. Quince is actually attached to the Pinch of Salt warehouse, so you won’t miss it then.
Immediately when you walk in, you fall in love with the colors and whimsy that adorn the walls and tables of the store. Quince is just packed with items that make you smile. You seriously can’t help but being happy in that store. I literally want everything in that store to be transported into my house/​office.
I must give credit where it is due. Marissa, the shop owner, has exceptional taste. In particular, she has an eye for pieces that are just plain fun. Also, you know she must do her research, because a bunch of the items aren’t available elsewhere in Hawaii. But, as a nice contrast, she has a bunch of pieces by local designers.
I promise that you will not be disappointed if you visit Quince. Enjoy!

Do you like locally owned small boutiques? Do you like unique, modern home décor and knick knacks? Do you like friendly customer service from shop owners? Do like walking into a store and falling in love with everything in it? If you answered YES, to any of these, or to ALL of these, then you will LOVE Quince! This is the kind of store that Hawaii needs more of!
Quince is a tiny hidden gem in the up and coming Kaka’ako district and once you find it, you’ll feel so giddy that you’ve stumbled upon it! It’s one of those stores that when I walk in, more than half of what’s in the store are things that I MUST have! If only I could just live there, I’d be a happy camper! Quince carries a variety of really great items such as decorative pillows, melamine dishes, vintage inspired accent furniture, really cool and unique office supplies, even things like stylish birthday candles. I just recently bought a set of candy colored faceted melamine bowls for my young daughters that are so pretty (and totally functional) that I just smile every time I see them use it. Goodbye ugly plastic, primary color, kiddie cups and bowls! These pretty cups and bowls make both mommy and kiddies much happier during meal times.
Marissa the owner is really friendly and I can tell from her shop that she has impeccable taste. This is why you really can’t go wrong when you step into Quince!
So now you want to go and check out this really right? There’s a couple of things to know before going. Open Tues-​Sat, 10:30 — 6:00 pm. Easy free parking right in front of the store and in the parking lot where they are located. Lastly, when I say this is a hidden gem, I’m not kidding. It’s not a store that you can see just driving by. However, if you know where TASTE and Paiko is, Quince is right around the corner in the parking lot just past Paiko on Auahi St. Also, if you’ve ever been to Honolulu Night Market, Quince is cozied up right next to A Pinch of Salt, the warehouse space for the pop-​up market. It’s easy to spot once you are in the parking lot with it’s colorful exterior (see Unilocal pics). Happy shopping!

I’ve had the opportunity to meet the owner, Marissa, a few times in the neighborhood prior to opening her business. You know that feeling you get when you’ve met a quality person… well, that’s the feeling I got. Genuine, sincere, and a lot of fun. Can’t wait to see her shop open. From what I’ve seen Quince (named after a pear) is taking Kakaako by storm. Don’t miss her Grand Opening this Saturday, April 13^th… it’ll never be the same thereafter… thanks to Marissa and her new, cool shop of interior goodness. :)
