I don’t know who they have working at this place but let me tell ya, what a miserable person. You can get everything here at the farmers market or online plus not have to deal with the horrible customer service

I always admired Paiko’s pretty plants and arrangements, but never purchased anything. This past weekend I was invited to a friend’s birthday party at Paiko, so I was excited to see what we were going to do. Courtney was really friendly and nice. She explained what succulents were and that they don’t need a lot of water and like to have some sunlight(but not direct). We put cinders the bottom of the pot, and then a layer of soil. We then chose 5 succulents to put in our pot and then were able to decorate with colorful rocks/sands/beads. The most interesting thing was to see how each of ours looked completely different and matched our personalities. It was a really fun class and a nice thing to do with a bunch of girlfriends!

Do yourself a favor and book a flower crown making workshop — it is legit! So much fun in such a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. I couldn’t have asked for a better workshop experience. Check out more details on my blog here:

I love Paiko, it’s such a fun experience to shop here, select your plant and pot it yourself! They have lots of great succulent options that you can pair with beautiful pots and cool rock fillings. I’ve potted and purchased 5 total succulent plants from Paiko and they make my condo look so cool. This is a cheap and simple home décor idea… And succulents hardly require any care and live forever!

I surprised my girlfriend with a workshop at Paiko– We brought our own wine and snacks and it was a lot better than the standard dinner and a movie thing.

Paiko is a little succulent oasis. Go here to purchase a ready made garden or terrarium, or create your own. Everything is so pretty, you’ll want to take it all home. This place is great to pick up a work or house warming gift. Paiko also has workshops, tropical cut flowers, decorative pots, and plants for sale.

This store is just too cute! I thought my 8 year old would love to pot her own succulent at their DIY bar. You can use their soil and toppings such as stones, tumbled glass, and local shells. We ran short of time so we both picked out a succulent to take home. The employee was awesome at explaining to my daughter how to take care of her new succulent. Paiko also carries hand-crafted & locally sourced plant vessels, apothecary goods, stationary, and books. They offer both public and private hands-on workshops. Feeling thirsty? Inside Paiko you will find Brue Bar fulfilling all your coffee needs and free wifi. It’s street parking or park at their new parking structure. Love this shop!

Gem! Enjoyed browsing this lovely store. Didn’t know what to expect but was greeted by Leah(she only works on Sundays) who enthusiastically showed us around and educated us on the different succulents/air plants. Leah walked us through the DIY bar and was patient throughout. We really enjoyed putting together our own arrangement. On a side note, Brue Bar, located inside the store serves up delish coffee drinks. I will definitely be back!

Paiko is a little oasis in the middle of a very industrialized Kaka’ako. Now, I am not a plant person, I have a brown thumb instead of a green thumb… it’s pretty sad. That being said, I still had a fun time browsing the huge selections of plants(especially the succulence), pots, and potting décor. I started off my Paiko adventure by getting a cold brew from the Brue Bar so I could sip and browse. I eventually picked up a small succulent from the front of the store, found a cute(and cheap) pot, and potted it with minimal decorations. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, answering all of my ridiculously stupid questions about how to pot plants correctly. I spent about 30 – 45 minutes sipping, browsing, and potting and left with only about a $ 10 dent in my wallet(from the coffee and the plant), not bad at all! This is definitely a 5⁄5 experience, especially if you’re pretty basic like me and want to snap those cute succulent Instagram photos, amirite?

I literally think this place is the best thing since sliced bread. The options for plants and planters is so diverse and the accessories like moss, sand, driftwood/branches and crystals inspire me to tap into my inner gardener. Thank you Paiko for being your cute, creative, chic but approachable selves — and by the way, Jordan is awesome.

Another adventure with my best friend turned out to be a success! This was the best shopping experience of my life. I think I’m going to come here once every week to destress at Paiko. To start out, my friend and I were greeted right away when we stepped through the doors. The woman who greeted us and helped us the entire way was named Courtney. She was awesome and knowledgeable. She told me which air plants thrived in low light, and which ones need sun light. Then she talked to me about each of the fillings for my glass terrarium, and then walked my friend through her plant selection. My friend went with a some baby ferns that required actual soil, whereas mine being an air plant did not need soil to thrive. Everything I put into my terrarium was purely decorational. Courtney was great, and I listened to her as she helped other customers as well. She’s very passionate about what she does, and I feel that makes for a quality experience with every customer. As she rang us out, she noticed that my friend’s glass vessel had something like a scratch on it that didn’t seem to go away, even though it looked to me like it could have been erased with some elbow grease. Because of this, she gave my friend a BEAUTIFUL flower! She didn’t have to do that! I took some pictures of the flower, and Courtney decided to give one to me too cause she didn’t want me to feel left out. That was seriously so sweet of her, and she really did not have to do that. Excellent experience, and I’ll definitely be coming back again and again!

I came to Paiko on the Valentine’s Day, «Celebracion del Amor» event, where there were mini-workshop stations to create something of your own without having to pay the workshop prices. Some of the workshops were the terrarium or terra cotta area where you could use succulents or air plants, a pin making area, a bouquet arranging area, and even a perfume area. This was great! It was awesome to experience the different aspects of Paiko all at once. I love the terra cotta pot and succulent arrangement I made! I display it on my desk where I receive countless compliments and it’s easy because they’re so easy to take care of. Little water and lots of sun light is what sold me on the succulents. The owners of Paiko are very nice and helplful! When I was lost at one of the stations they were happy to help guide me through the processes. The atmosphere is light and welcoming, and the coffee they offer is a winner as well! I would definitely recommend coming into the shop whether to get coffee, buy some flowers, or make an awesome terrarium!

If the«new» Kaka’ako is going to be filled with stores like Paiko, then Kaka’ako is where you will find me once it’s all said and done. My office used to share the same space as Paiko, before they completed their recent and stunningly beautiful remodel and I would drool over the clean, modern and simple«living» décor that would fill their shop. If you are the type to not only love plants, but also can appreciate design, then you will love Paiko. The plants and the vessels that house them here at Paiko will make your home, office, or space look like you have an interior design degree. It’s amazing how the plants and décor that I have purchased from Paiko, really add to the overall look of my home. It adds an earthy warmth with a modern touch. And what’s even better, is that many of the air plants, and flowers from Paiko need very little care. In fact, I’ve killed my first couple of air plants because of OVER care and excessive watering. My 6 year old daughter LOVES their DIY terrarium«bar» where she can pick from colorful gravel, tiny shells, cute plastic animals, «gold» rocks, colored moss and more to create her own little air plant kingdom. Recently when she was asked what she wanted for her 6th birthday, she replied«I want to go to Paiko and make a terrarium!» That’s how much she loves it here. And I don’t blame her. Paiko also hosts many workshops in the shop from Staghorn fern mounting to succulent gardens, to wreath making. Check their website for a full listing of their workshops and prices. With having to say good-bye to so many of my favorite Kaka’ako small businesses like Quince, PAD, and Snackbox, I sure am glad that Paiko will be a permanent fixture in the quickly evolving Kaka’ako. The next time you are down in that area, be sure to pop in to find and take something pretty and lovely home with you!

I’ve been following Paiko on Instagram and saw they were having a sale off their DIY succulents and since I was going to be in town, I figured I’d go and take a peek. I was pleasantly surprised how cute this shop was. They have ready made arrangements and plants for sale but they also have 2DIY bars. One for terrarriums and succulent pots. The terrarrium vessels hold air plants. The bar has potting soil and rocks for the succulents and various sands, rocks, moss etc for the terrarriums. I believe there is a «bar fee» depending on how large your vessel is. I decided to make a small succulent pot. It was harder than it looked only because you had to commit to the vessel, commit to the plant, make sure they matched, pot it then commit to the rocks on top! Commitments, commitments! In all it was a really fun project and I hope to be back. This place would also be good for gifts or a group activity together. They also offer workshops. They are in the process of renovations right now but the work is off to the side so it’s no problem at all. They will soon have a coffee shop within(Brue) and seating outside and inside the shop! Just hoping I can keep mine alive now!

Located in the heart of Kakaako, Paiko is a fun different experience to get crafty and go home with something unique. We came to check out their terrarrium bar. You can do everything from picking your own vessel, plant and all the fillers to make your terrarrium. The lady working there was very helpful explaining the plants and how to care for them. This is such a neat and environmentally friendly place! There is beauty in different plants, not just the hibiscus. Parking along the street seemed easy enough, but I’m not sure during peak hours. Sure, the price can add up depending on what you pick to add into your project, but it doesn’t have to be outrageous. Definitely check it out.

I went here after reading a review on a DIYSUCCULENTCLASS. I didn’t know this place existed at all. «Our» Kaka’ako is in constant architectural change and despite the public outcry for less is more in already dense area, a storefront like PAIKO is exactly what this kind of neighborhood needs! PAIKO sits on Auahi Street on the same side as Bevy and the now closed TASTE. It’s conveniently located store that houses locally grown plants and is LOCALLY owned. I’m all about supporting local entrepreneurs and products. There’s something to be said about having a shop like PAIKO in an area full of restaurants, businesses and housing. It’s wonderful to be able to go «next door» to pick up flowers or an arrangement for that special occasion or just because” moments. I had the pleasure of meeting co-owner Courtney(didn’t get her last name) the other day and was just pleased like pie after getting a tour of their beautiful botanical oasis in soon-to-be-walking-metropolis Kaka’ako. Upon entering Paiko, I was amazed at how the storefront was transformed into an oasis of beautiful plants and décor. BEE-U-T-FULL! If anything, this store(i feel ashamed calling it a «store«since it really is MORE than just a generic store — it’s unlike any plant/floral shop I’ve ever been to) is the epitome of a trendy, «indoor/outdoor-scaped» design. There are succulents, tropical plants, FLOWERS, terraniums, air plants and tons of beautiful vases and vessels for your interior/exterior floral needs. PAIKO is not just a space for plant and flower sale but also a place to learn how to create the perfect arrangement(s) of kokedama, succulent garden, terrarium or floral design. It’s an über adorable«store» that doesn’t feel like your typical flower and plant place. I’m hoping that Courtney and her staff could help me rid me of my BLACK thumb. I can grow a few plants but they all eventually die. I was told that succulents and cacti are truly death proof kind of plants — but give me a few weeks and I can most definitely prove them wrong. I’ve purchased a few succulents but they have all died and it’s quite discouraging since these plants were supposed to be kill-proof(sigh). I have two indoor plants that have survived my hands and with bated breath I wait to see how much longer I will have them. Parking wasn’t bad — I found parking on the street immediately and didn’t have to walk far to get to Paiko.

I just attended Paiko’s Succulent Garden Workshop and love, love, love the arrangement I brought home. It was a lot of fun putting it together and attending the class taught me how to care for succulents and how to pot them. When you pay for the class, you are paying for the materials for your arrangement. For the Succulent Garden Workshop, we got: decorative planter(We had 3 to choose from) 1 large succulent plant 2 small succulent plants plain rocks for the bottom of the pot soil decorative rocks The two owners, along with another coworker of theirs were really nice and did a great job of explaining how to care for them and how to pot the succulents. There were a few people running late to the class and they were nice enough to wait until the majority of the customers were there. During the workshop, they were readily available for help and to answer any questions that we had. They also said if we had any questions about plants that we currently have and their care to ask them. They were really helpful! I will definitely continue to shop at Paiko and am looking forward to attending another workshop. Succulents are fairly easy to care for; they’re pretty low maintenance. I know a lot of people who love succulents but are afraid to buy them because they think they won’t survive but the ladies at Paiko will give you all of the tips you need and again, succulents aren’t very hard to care for. It’s definitely worth a trip out to Kaka‘ako to check them out-you’ll love what they have to offer!

Paiko is a fun and cute little store with the friendliest owners(Tamara & Courtney). Not only do they sell succulents and terrariums, you can even go to one of their workshops and learn to make and care for your own little creation! I recently went and did their tillandsia air plant workshops and am just in love with what I made. I just hope I can keep it alive! I love it so much I was thinking about making some for Christmas presents this year. It’s such a fun, creative, and unique gift. Check out for info on workshops and store hours!

I had no idea low maintenance plants(other than cactus) even existed! I came here to find some indoor plants to spruce up my boring dorm room. They have a DIY terrarium bar, pre-made succulent arrangements, and separate pots so you can make your own small arrangements. I bought 2 pre-made arrangements and made one myself at the terrarium bar. The store has a very nice, hip setup – very boutique like and not like a typical florist shop. Tons of street parking in front of the store as well as on the surrounding streets. Go eat at Whole Ox while you’re in the area! Crossing my fingers that I can keep these plants alive. *update*. I took the succulent workshop and it’s so worth it! It’s $ 40 all inclusive, and comes with a choice of ceramic pot, soil, charcoal, assortment of decorative rocks, plastic animal and hula girl figurines, and 5 succulent plants(choose from a variety, including cactus!). If you were to pay for all of these separately from Paiko they would come out to more than $ 40. It’s $ 35 if you bring your own container, but if you were to buy the containers separately from Paiko they’re worth about $ 15−20 – so just get the container. :). Prepare to get your hands dirty!
