Good price for delicious food. Most important is this story. My uncle has Alzheimer and wandered off. We and Honolulu Police search for a couple days. Found him at Nishi Mon Cho Ramen. The must have judged he was not a bum, had Alzheimer and actually gave him food! The kindness by the people at Nishi Ramen will always be remembered.(This is not a story so you can send bums there cause that would ruin the nice family business. They don’t flaunt Aloha but deep down they got it.) In short, just go eat there. And thank them for me.

When I’m at home in Manoa, and I’m craving ramen and fried rice combo, this is where I go. I call it in, and it’s ready by the time I get there. For $ 10, I get Combo A which includes a shoyu ramen, fried rice, and gyoza. It’s filling. Sometimes I actually share with my daughter. In the past I’ve gotten their Combo D I believe which has the shoyu ramen, beef curry, and gyoza. I use to substitute the beef with chicken katsu for $ 1 extra. That combo is also filling. Then when their prices went up I started sticking to their combo a. It’s a good place to go for some ramen when you’re in the area. It’s not my favorite, but I’m glad they’re in manoa. It’s convenient. Their service is pretty prompt. They make the food as you order so be prepared to wait, or just call in to eliminate the waiting time!

I love that this place is close to my hale although I would drive out of the Valley for it. The food is always grinds and the service is always friendly. You might have to wait a little bit if they are busy but it’s hard to get impatient when you see how hard they work.

This is my go-to on lasts days since I’m in Manoa ! Phone orders & specials can’t go wrong ! I always get a Combo A order extra gyoza 6 or 4pc both are cheap! The lady’s accents are heavy & hard to understand sometimes but they are really nice! Parking at Manoa market sucks regardless the time of day so better if you’re just patient. Great pricing especially for the college students living in Manoa. List of foodies: seafood crispy noodle, mapo tofu, shoyu ramen, combo a & c, ALLSPECIALS, gyoza!

Came here because it is easy to get to in Manoa Marketplace. Had the daily special which happened to be chicken katsu ramen. was a little taken aback that the noodles and broth came out before the chicken but getting the large amount of chicken was a nice surprise because I was not sure if the chicken in the name only referred to the flavoring. Restaurant provided table service and since my dining partner uses a mobility scooter, not having to maneuver around the tight table arrangement was helpful. It is a great, inexpensive quick lunch type place. There is a public restroom on the second floor but the restroom is inaccessable to those using wheelchairs.

My wife had tofu ramen, which was delicious. I had vegetable croquettes over rice and a curry gravy. It was excellent comfort food. Great place to stop after hiking up to see the Manoa Falls.

In a rush? If you are, this is not the place. But to top it off, they ran out of ramen. Hello, it’s part of their name

Long wait… Ordered at 515, no line, 1 table. More walk in orders, they get food first. Guy orders a lot of gyoza, I order 4 piece, told waiting on that, a later walk in gets order with gyoza, leaves before me. HMMMM, told waiting for my gyoza. Got hoke gyoza warm not hot! What to do? Do I say something? Will they care?

After running errands in Manoa marketplace, we stopped by this place for a quick meal. I ordered shoyu char siu ramen. It was ok, nothing great, too many onions & parts of the char siu had a strange green iridescence, which I’ve never seen before. I didn’t eat the iridescent parts & ate the remaining parts since it tasted ok. The noodles were ok. I hope I don’t get sick later from the funky colored meat. :-(my bf ordered cold shoyu noodles & it was served with luncheon meat that was described as ham on their menu — terrible misrepresentation. He didn’t finish his dish either. Overall, just meh.

They are awesome. It’s the best chicken katsu curry in America and Japan and China and Antarctica

Tried their curry chicken katsu. The katsu is fried to a satisfying crisp. The curry, while flavorful, is missing some things like sliced carrots. That being said, it comes with several gyoza. Simple dish but you gets lots of food for the price. Quick service and a good take out option.

Came here after hiking Manoa Falls. Ordered shoyu ramen and gyoza daily special. Vegetables in soup were chunks of cabbage and some carrots and onion. Gyoza was good but the ramen was merely okay.

Little place and can get crowded but I love the mabo tofu crispy noodles!!! My fave dish here! Service can be slow when it’s busy but the people here try their best. What can I say about the mabo tofu crispy noodles? AWESOME!!! TASTY!!! GREATNESS!!! I love it! I can’t really judge the other dishes cause this is basically all I get! Lol! The gyoza is good. Try it if you’re in the area!

I took my mom out on a lunch date here. The place is a little shop located towards the front end(E Manoa Road) of the Manoa Marketplace. I ordered the Mapo Tofu Ramen. It was a nice sized bowl of mapo tofu ontop a bowl of regular ramen noodles. I have to be honest — the dish lacked flavor. It was neither salty, spicy, and it was flavorless. Perhaps this is a safe style for the older generation, but I ended up putting ¼ of the bottle of vinegar in this dish to be able to eat it. After that, it was fine! Grade: C– My mom ordered the fried chicken wing plate. It was 6 pieces of friend chicken wingettes served with rice and salad. Again here, the chicken was a bit bland and it tasted like the chicken was just rolled in flour and deep fried. Mom enjoyed it(she enjoys any kind of fried chicken) and she stopped eating at 4 pieces. I ate the last two pieces, and noticed that the chicken was a bit under-cooked. The bone area had red-blood around it. Since we were done with the dish, we didn’t bring it to the attention to the owners. Grade: C– Service was good. Food Grade: C– Service Grade: B+ Worth the Money Grade: B– Overall Impression Grade: C+

This place is okay. The combos are plentiful for a little person like me. My first visit here I had their common ramen(Ni shi something, sorry I’m eating while typing). This time I had the combo A! It’s a mini ramen, 4pcs of gyoza & fried rice. If you’re hungry get a combo! If you are lacking sodium & wanting salty stuff eat here. I tend to crave for salty stuffs when I’m stressed so to make it simple their food is too salty. So salty you may want to purchase a large drink to drown it. I’m giving it 2 stars for fast service & having combos($ 9.01 with tax). I doesn’t look clean, especially since the seat I sat on was so sticky I got stuck on it. The food is salty & for some reason they don’t like giving receipts.

After reading my Unilocal buddy Nat N. review of Hokkaido Ramen… I was determined to try their beef curry. Upon picking up my friend, I headed down to the Kaimuki Municipal parking lot, and upon driving around, and around in circles… I just have up on the idea of going to Hokkaido Ramen, as I could not find any parking tonight. :( I decided on plan«B» to head out to Curry House Coco Ichibanya in the Pucks Alley Shopping Center, as I remember my Unilocal buddies — Larlar S. & Lisa S. were there a few days ago, which put a bug in my head for«Curry House». Upon arriving at Pucks Alley, I park my car, & walking to the restaurant… next thing you know, I find it «CLOSED on Sundays». Maaaaaaan! I can’t believe it! Strike #2!!! What a loser!!! Well, now I had to go for plan«C», and that is how I ended up at Nishi Mon Cho Ramen tonight. I’m glad I stopped by tonight… although they were busy, and only two tables were left open when we got there, at least I was able to secure one of the two tables. The friendly waitress came by quickly & dropped off the menus and water. It wasn’t hard for me to pick what I wanted to eat tonight, as I just looked on the wall for the«Sunday Special». What is the Sunday Special? Well, for $ 7.25 you get a bowl of Ramen, a plate of Chicken Katsu, &4 pieces of Gyoza. How that for an AWESOME deal? WINNING! :) My friend also ordered the same thing as me… and upon throwing down the grindz, I must say it was quite tasty, and very filling! The Ramen noodles were made perfectly, the Chicken Katsu was crispy & hot! And of course with 4 gyoza to go with your meal… well how can you go wrong with that? Yes, I did not get my curry tonight… so I will probably have to try and get my curry sometime later this week. Hopefully if time permits, I will head back to Kaimuki again, and try to hook it up at Hokkaido Ramen, but until then… I think I’m good tonight, as this meal really hit the spot for me! Check ‘em out gang! Good grindz at reasonable prices over here!

A-OK. The food was much better than I had initially anticipated. Although this place isn’t my first choice for ramen, it frankly does the job. The tonkotsu was actually pretty good and not overly salty like some other tonkotsu broths I’ve had. Service was pleasant. I’m sure there was a minor language barrier misunderstanding, but nothing major or upsetting. They were all actually very nice. It was kind of cool seeing the whole family kind of help out at this restaurant. My friend and I saw a couple of younger children bussing some tables. Really, it was cute. For the area, this is a good ramen spot. I like the convenient, close-to-school location… and the ample parking. Plus, it’s close to Coffee Bean — where I sometimes study.

There are a handful of restaurants in Manoa Marketplace and Nishi Moncho Ramen is one I find myself going to more than the rest. They have the typical Japanese staples that you’ll find like curry, yakisoba, and ramen(a good option when it happens to be raining in Manoa haha). They don’t make anything particularly great, but the food is good and the daily specials are a deal . The Sunday daily special of chicken katsu ramen With four pieces of gyoza is my favorite special. It is a very good size portion of ramen and katsu and I’m always stuffed after eating. It is such a great meal to get on a Sunday when you’re too lazy to cook and hurrying to do last minute things before the upcoming workday. Because it is located in Manoa Marketplace parking is never an issue and you can call ahead and it’ll be ready within ten minutes. Nishi Moncho Ramen is not a place you would go out of your way for, but if you’re in the area and need a place to eat you can’t go wrong here.

Lunch! It was a clean eating area, but I’ve had better. The crispy noodles were the best thing about it. Their menu pictures are faded. Obvious marketing fix. The seafood soup was ok, but I tasted a piece of mushy seafood and with that, my meal was over. Too bad. Advice? Clearer pictures for the inside and outside menu and more pride in the finished product.
