No matter what the name is of this salon it is always not good. I did go here for a while when Tammy worked there. She did a good job, but now she is gone. The owner is gruff and cuts the sides of my toe nail and then pulls the cut nail out. I told her it hurts, but she insists that it is good for my toe nail. Really???

I went to this salon because it was close to work around 3 months ago(April 2013). Guess I should have checked out the reviews first. I just wanted a basic pedicure because I only had my lunch hour. I am not sure the technician listened to me because she was rubbing all kinds of salts on my legs, and when she finally polished my nails, the work was terrible, very sloppy. It looked like I did it right before running out the door to an event, kind of how it would look if a 3 year old did it. I forgot how much I paid, but it was too much. I told my boss about my experience, and she said she had basically the same experience. Don’t go here unless they change management.

I believe their name changed to Fort Street Nail-Beauty Salon. I will most certainly never go here again, not for a gelish manicure anyway… maybe one day if I’m out of my mind I’ll happen to forget my experience and come here again. I decided to stop in here to get my gelish manicure re-done on my lunch break and anticipated a 45 min job. When I walked in at 12:15 they seemed friendly enough and I asked to do a mani and pedi-the lady that helped me said no problem we could be done by the latest 1:30, despite the time, I said ok let’s do it. I opted for a classic white french tip gelish and she said I could pick my pedicure color in a few minutes-OK. So we start and then I ask her to cut my nails a little shorter(emphasis on little I said just a liiiittle shorter) I feel her cut my nail down to my skin. Immediately a red flag goes up and I start watching her closely. I brush it off lightly saying it is ok, I can just grow my nails out again(oh so sorry so sorry etc etc-moving on) She then applies the base coat, then after I set it under the UV dryer, she sprays and wipes it all off, and I notice and told her it all came off, so she applies another coat to both sets of nails… then after drying it they all come off again. It’s been about 30 minutes I’m slowly getting irritated, and we’ve basically gotten no where. so I ask her why she keeps wiping it off or how about letting me let it dry longer and she tells me — oh no it is just a base coat so your nails dont turn yellow. I reply-yes, I know I do my nails all the time, but you keep wiping the base coat off so what is the point in you applying it. So she smiles and puts on another coat and we let it dry a little longer-Voila it doesnt wipe off when she tries it again. Now for the French tip-usually I can appreciate a hand painted job and the careful precision that goes into these for some-but this lady took it to another level. It took her 10 minutes on each hand-yes I timed it, I was watching the clock like a hawk. and then there were still splotches of white on my nails and lighter areas on the tip and nail polish all on my fingers. At this point I am over it and it has been almost an hour. So she reminds me it’s just the top coat that needs to go on and then we’ll be done-So I say ok. We start the top coat and my nails arent dry enough so she ends up having to re-do the white on almost all my nails – 20 more minutes go by and I’m finally fed up and finally ready to just be out of here(mind you no one started my pedicure or asked about it again the whole time!) I pull my hands out and I can slowly feel my nails sticking to my skin from the nail polish– on almost all of my fingers! I ask her to please cut it/file it-just fix it. and she feels the need to explain to me it’s because the nail polish is dripping-You think?! I can feel it for myself! I go to pay– $ 46 for this nonsense! I can’t believe I actually stayed and paid for this nonsense-It is the longest and worse experience of getting my nails done ever.

The other review listed here was over a year old, so perhaps they’re deserving of another look. I go here because it’s close to work and convenient when I’m in the mood for a pedi. It’s certainly not a top of the line salon, but it’s fine when you don’t have high standards or don’t have tons of dough to spend. They sterilize their tools and do their best to run their business with integrity. I’ve never had a problem. They must’ve gotten better at the trade in a year. Their pedi chairs have minimum massage functions, their leg massage that accompanies the pedi is long and pleasant, and occasionally they have an interesting movie on. The women are always happy and welcoming-will talk to you or leave you to your own devices. I know that princesses probably prefer to be pampered when they get their nails done by sleek stylists(no shame in that), but I’m a pretty low-fuss girl. I don’t mind that it’s a little average. The price is right and I never have to wait. I like paying a little extra for a design on my toes, and they do their best to add extra embellishments when you want something besides flowers… this weekend I had her paint a fish on mine, and I think it’s adorable. So yes, princesses, stay to your high service stations… but low maintenance chicks, step in here. No lines.

The absolute worst nail salon I have ever been to. They«filed» my nails to the quick, and I actually had(yes had) long nails. They painted all over the cuticles, painted sloppy and I hope I don’t get an infection! I should have had a clue when I walked in at lunch hour in busy downtown and no one is there. They said they would do both manicure and pedicure in an hour, but no… only pedicure and a sloppy paint job. Don’t go…

5⁄8 — $ 31.50 — Found this little ‘hole-in-the-wall’ nail service salon for a pedicure. This small shop had 4 pedicure, massage chairs and 2 nail stations. Apparently, they also offer massages and waxing services(of all kind). This is an older building in he Fort Street Mall area that relies on 360-air for air conditioning and had no music or TV playing… just listening to others talk and the usual street sounds. Despite it’s roughness(upholstery worn and remote controls on the massage chairs worn off and walls needing painting themselves), the service was fabulous and the quality of the pedicure was good. If in the area, I would definately go back.
