Delicious! Had the teri burger and mushroom burger. The burger patties are well-sized, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I would recommend the mushroom burger. I read in previous reviews something about sweet potato fries. Please note these are like a specialty, it’s not a regular item on their menu. However, the regular fries and garlic fries are delicious! They’re fried to the perfect texture and flavored just right. The service is friendly, and though it takes some time, remember your burgers and fries are fresh and tasty! Downside: you need to find out where the food truck is. Mm… that’s about it! So plan on a day to make a field trip for some yummy food… Must try this food truck at least once if you’re jonesing for a burger and want to go somewhere other than Teddy’s and the like.

Saw Ramen Burger listed on the menu and figured I had to try it. I love ramen, and burgers, so why wouldn’t I like it combined? Nice juicy beef patty between ramen noodles, with kim chee, green onions, and sauce. Not too spicy, but very good. A little messy to eat but worth the effort. Momo ran out right after we place our order so good for us, but sad for others. Well worth the effort to locate and try this burger. We had the garlic fries too, so if you love garlic, get the garlic fries!

I’ve seen this truck around my workplace and kept wondering how their food was. So one day my coworker and I decided to try it. Well if you’re ever in a Burger mood, this is the lunch wagon to go to. First thing I noticed is that they have at most 7 different burgers which makes ordering very easy. I decided on the teri burger. The aroma is enough to make you want to dive into this burger. At first bite I was in love!!! It was cooked perfectly, juicy… oh so juicy and flavorful!!! My coworker had the bacon cheeseburger and he loved it. He said you could even taste the bacon. I mean I know that sounds weird saying that, but sometimes in bacon cheeseburgers you’re left thinking where was the bacon? That was not the case at MOMO Burger!!! All their burgers are about $ 7.25, I know it’s a bit pricey for a burger, but once you taste it, it’s all worth it. They also have regular fries or garlic fries. Go for the Garlic fries which have parmesan cheese, minced garlic and parsley. Oh so yummy. The staff working the wagon are very friendly. That’s always a plus in my book. They seem to be on Kawaiahao St./Cooke St every week. If you ever get the chance, try them. Like them on Facebook, they always let their fans know where they’re going to be.

Mushroom Burger($ 7): BOMB Cheeseburger with bacon($ 7): BOMB Sweet potato fries($ 3): BOMBBBB with some BOMBBBBBQ flavor on top As Guy Fieri would say, that’s MONEY!!!(And it is a little much to spend on lunch on a regular basis, but actually I think it’s a fair price for what you get.) The sweet potato fries were nice and crispy, just how I like it. They also had a wonderful tang to take it to the next level. The burger was quite juicy and dense. If you’re hungry, you’ll definitely feel satisfied after eating one of them. If you’re not that hungry, you might feel gross. However, I would not advise eating a meal from here if you have to do something that requires you to be alert & wide awake after consumption. I majorly kanaked after eating this and dozed off a few times in lecture… oops. Sorry microbiology… SORRY I’M NOTSORRY! Love ya Momo Burger. I don’t know if it’s still around campus but if it is, go students go! Lately they seem to be downtown on Kawaiahao st. You can always follow them on twitter to find out their location. @momoburgerhi !!

I have a confession to make — I did not eat a burger at Momo Burger. I know, that is blasphemy, however, I did try their garlic fries at Eat The Street on 5÷31÷13. One of the reasons why I was drawn to Momo Burger is because it had no line. If you have ever been to Eat The Street, you know how rare of an occurrence it is to see a popular food truck with no line. Then, I saw that they had GARLICFRIES!!! I love garlic fries and I knew I would find at least one truck that offered garlic fries at Eat The Street. I ordered the fries. It took less than 5 minutes to get my order. While waiting for my order, I did see the burgers and I started regretting not ordering a burger too. But, it gives me a reason to go back to Eat The Street later this month. Their garlic fries were PERFECT! They were crispy. Most of the garlic fries I had at others places were oily(usually because they use garlic and butter to give the fries a garlic flavor), but these fries were seasoned differently. The seasoning looked a little like garlic salt, but the texture of the seasoning was more like flour — very powdery and light. The fries were not overly garlicky, but had a nice taste to it. I could only hope that they will offer garlic fries again. I will need to go back to Eat The Street to try their burgers! If their fries were that good, then their burgers are probably amazing.

Had the Mochi Burger at Eat the Street tonight. Ba BOOM! BooYaKaSha! BoomShakaLaka! He’s heating up… he’s on fire! Shaved mochi with nametake mushrooms melted into the patty to create the«cheese». And they had a ozoni dashi dipping sauce with shiitake mushrooms. On toast-bread. PLEASEMRSMOMOIFYOUAREREADINGTHISPLEASEHAVETHISBURGERONMENUAGAINFORTHELOVEOFGODBLESSYOURHEART

Came here once last semester on my way to one of my class. A friend and I decided to get their famous«BBQ sweet potato fries» Sooo good! I don’t normally eat fries but its crunchy enough of a texture and sweet enough to compliment the BBQ. Perfect combination and right price! Be advise that the line does get long so be sure to wait. Workers are nice and they do take cards! Not sure where they are located this semester though.

When we were students at UH my friend took me to eat Momo Burger for the first time. She suggested the bacon cheeseburger, so I ordered that. It was very tasty and the burger was pretty big.(The sauce makes the burger). It was a nice change from always eating at Campus Center. I liked it so much that my last lunch as an undergrad was a momo burger ha! This time I got my bacon cheeseburger with garlic fries. Still great. The only gripe I have is with the prices. $ 7 for a burger? I mean, I guess it’s understandable since it’s big and all, but dang! However, it does beat Campus Center and its prices, for sure.(I shouldn’t complain too much then).

Let’s face it — as a student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, the main dining options aren’t the greatest… However, I am pleased with UHM’s more recent attempts to contract much more appealing, healthy and tasty food vendors such as Momo Burger. Momo Burger builds creative, mouthwatering burgers made from 100% grass-fed Big-Island-grown beef. What’s so great about grass-fed beef? It’s healthier. Grass-fed beef contains more omega-3 fats, vitamins A and E, antioxidants, beta-carotene, and supposedly has fewer calories. Also, the flavor of the meat is great! Indecisive people, fret no longer! Try each specially crafted burger without busting your belt(and wallet) bc they come in «slider» sizes. Woohoo! Momo Burger(Reg $ 6; Slider $ 3.50) Lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions, American cheese, Momo sauce — This burger is their simplest burger, but it is by no means simple in taste! It’s a classic cheeseburger done Momo-style — juicy, delicious and messy! I loved the mild creaminess of the Momo sauce and cheese with the slightly sweet caramelized onions. The layers of flavor were fun and enticing. Mushroom Burger(Reg $ 7; Slider $ 4) Sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, roasted garlic aioli, balsamic reduction, arugula — This burger screamed my name, so I had to have it. It’s like the guys at Momo Burger made this one especially for me bc I love all of these ingredients. Overall, I thought the flavors were nicely balanced. The arugula was absolutely brilliant in this burger, and the balsamic reduction was mild enough where I could still taste the beautiful beefiness of the meat. Momo Burger is a go. Whether you’re hungry for something creative or just simple snack, Momo Burger has a decent variety — simple and ingenious! The prices aren’t too rough, which is perfect for the average struggling student. And most importantly, these healthier-than-normal burgers are tasty. AND available on UHM campus!

I don’t come here all too often, but once day during summer school last session, I decided to stop by this place just once. And I’m pretty glad that I did. They have sliders now(mini versions of their burgers)! And gyros too! For girls like me with tummies that fill up too easily but who still want to try and eat everything, it’s a pain wanting to have the burger and eat the fries too! But now that they have mini burgers, I really CAN have both(still can’t finish the fries… but fries are easily shared with friends!) and save my wallet from the higher prices! One thing that I noticed is that they now accept card, but because of that they don’t have flat dollar amounts anymore and you’ll end up with loose change after coming here if you only carry bills, unlike before they started accepting card. Aside from that, everything’s the same as before. My favorites are still the mushroom burger, the kimchee burger, and the sweet potato fries. Yummy!

Momo Burger is mo mo better! I love a good burger! I even have a list just for burger places. When I heard of Momo burger I just had to track down this truck! I have been trying to find it off and on for about two weeks. I have called on a weekend, driven around UH and I finally found it! Right now there is like a food truck rally on the UH campus! I counted six or seven total! I set out on a beautiful day to find this truck with Sammie T. Victorious! That is all I could think of! Parking was cray! Luckily I found a spot(that I probably shouldn’t have parked in) and booked it to the truck. Ok on to the eats! I ordered the Mushroom Burger and garlic fries. For eleven bucks I have to say this is a great lunch splurge! The mushroom burger was great, but I have to say a little dry. I loved it and would eat another one right this second. My partner is crime was delighting over the great sauce on her burger and mine was just normal. I had also read about«momo sauce». Ok next time The burger it’s self had great flavor and the mushrooms were sauted with what tasted like garlic. I also loved the bun! Very soft and tasty. Was it a sweet hawaiian roll? YUMM! I will certainly be back and now that I am following them on twitter locating them next time will be easy!

I LOVEMOMOBURGER! This has been my guilty pleasure before class for the past few months… I’ll admit it I stop by at least once a week. Must gets are the Sweet Potato Fries – how could you go wrong at only $ 3?!(Garlic Fries are also YUM at $ 4, but def have some gum handy.) And the veggie burgers are bomb($ 7)!! The homemade patties are always delicious and I think the veggie changes from weeke to week – I swear I’ve had an edamame patty, mushroom, eggplant? Regardless they’re all j’amazing! …and they make me feel a little less guilty about eating a burger every week haha. The original Momo Burger is also super delish; it’s great how you can tell the patty is homemade & the bun is always toasted to perfection. Their menu varies from day to day but other burgers that I’ve seen on the menu are the Kimchee Burger, Mushroom Burger, Bacon(cheese?) Burger, and Teri Burger. At Eat the Street Japan they also had a really oishii Mochi Burger that I think they should add to their regular menu(*hint*hint* @MomoBurger) haha The truck will have its usual rush here and there but trust me, it’s well worth the wait! The Momo staff is always super friendly too – shoutout to Leslie & Jenna! – so tip away! All I have to say is thank you UH for Momo-fying Maile Way – I hope they get to stick around after the Paradise Palms renovations have finished! For all of you who haven’t had a Momo experience yet, def stop by asap, you won’t regret it!

Attention UH students and employees: take advantage of their presence on campus now! They won’t be on campus forever. After the closing of Paradise Palms on the UH Manoa campus, the officials at UH came up with the brilliant idea of asking a few food trucks to park on Maile Way in the interim. This was the perfect opportunity for me to try Momo Burger, one of the more recent additions to the food truck race. When I visit burger joints for the first time, I like to order the most basic burger item on the menu — no mushrooms, bacon, and other goodies that hinder my ability to appreciate the taste of the burger itself. So, I opted for the good ‘ol Momo Burger($ 6) which comes with a burger patty, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions, american cheese, and Momo sauce. Ya, it’s not really a PLAIN burger, but, it’s their most basic burger on their menu — but the taste was anything but basic! It was out of this world and I don’t think I need to try any of their more expensive burgers(bacon cheese; teriyaki; or mushroom). The Momo Burger is all I need! After reading the Unilocal reviews, it seemed like there were more fans of the sweet potato fries than the garlic fries, and so I tried the sweet potato fries — yummy and worth the $ 3. They give a big serving(I could not finish it all) and they add a lot of salt and BBQ flavoring to it. According to the guy and gal working in the truck(I’m assuming they are the owners), they were originally supposed to be on campus only through the month of February, but they have not received official word yet on whether their stay will be extended. Apparently Paradise Palms is not going to be re-opening by March 1. At these prices, it’s not something that I will be able to eat for lunch on a regular basis, but it’s definitely worth a try at least once.

Finding places like these makes me so happy to be a carnivore. This ain’t no frilly food truck but check out those long lines! That speaks volumes of the food. Momo Burgers has been on the Manoa campus now(along with Shogun Tacos and The Curb) for a couple of weeks. After the first week I thought the lines would die down, but my fellow carnivores sure have taking a liking to those burgers, waiting for upwards of 20 minutes for their food. I’ve tried three of their burgers: 1) Bacon Cheese Burger 2) Mushroom Burger and 3) Teri Burger. Moist, grilled, grass-fed Big Island hamburger beef with all the fixings between toasted buns. OMG. My fave of the three is definitely the Bacon Cheese though. $ 7 seems a bit steep for a burger but at least try it once. Then you can go back to ordering $ 1 burgers from MCD if it’s not your flavor. They also have fries(i.e. garlic fries and sweet potato fries). I ordered the garlic fries which is topped with special garlic sauce and garlic chips. Inventive. But the fries were a bit soggy. Might be due to the long wait time in between cooking all those delicious burgers. Yes, I will be back!

I’m so glad that the food trucks are here on the UH Manoa campus, even if it’s for a limited time. UH was running out of quality food options. Finally, whoever sends out those campus-wide surveys about the dining options had read my suggestions! :) Today the line to Momo Burger wasn’t too bad, but I guess it depends when you go. When I got there, there was about four people waiting for their orders. I think they take a few orders at a time because even though it was just me and another person in line, I was waiting about 2 – 3 minutes before the cashier asked for my order. I ordered the Momo Burger($ 6) and garlic fries($ 4). When I got back to my office, I found that they had given me a mushroom and swiss burger. I wasn’t about to walk back in the hot sun and I didn’t really care that they messed up the order since the mushroom and swiss burger was super delicious! It was a decent sized burger, not as big as a Teddy’s burger but not a small McDonald’s burger either. However, the garlic fries were not as good as I thought they would be… not very garlicky and for $ 4 not that big of a serving. There are much better garlic fries out there for cheaper. I would definitely come back for another burger, but not for the fries. I hope to make it to this truck again soon, but not as often as I’d like since $ 6 or $ 7 for a burger is kind of expensive. Although it’s kind of pricey for a burger, I think the quality and taste is worth it. :)

MoMo = Mo betta, Mo da kine This truck’s hopefully got what it takes to have some staying power. Located(almost) daily off Ward Avenue, something about waiting in the hot sun with the smells of charred meat and french fries just takes me back to the good ol’ days of W & M… only Momo added mo’ da kine to my da kine! We devoured the following: Momo burger — Nice sized burger wrapped in a neat little package that held in all the awesomeness. Well done was still a tad pink, which is a good thing in my opinion! Momo sauce = ketchup + mayo(which according to all burger aficionados is the burger sauce of all burger sauces). Caramelized onions did not exist, although listed on the menu. Kim Chee burger — Winnah! Ding ding ding! Although not spicy, this burger was bomb according to my dining mate. Going… gooooing… gone. But where were the toasted sesame seeds? Veggie burger — This burger dropped Momo a star, maybe even two in my book. The burger was surprisingly GREEN and DEEPFRIED. Check it:
Although advertised as falafel, clearly this was not falafel, and the tzaziki sauce and pickled onions were not included(I think we are seeing a trend here). The not-so-falafel seemed to be ground soybeans with curry flavor, which could work if the owner put some time into devising a veggie burger that has a better consistency and holds up to the grill(ahem — Downbeat!) Altogether bland and disappointing for $ 1 more than a real burger. All burgers are served on an awesome potato bun that really holds the ingredients and sauces together — even wedged together in one paper bag. Fries are good: Sweet potato fries($ 3) got soggy in the Styrofoam container, but had good flavor and still had a couple of crispy bits! The garlic fries taste delicious, doused in aioli and topped with fried garlic chips($ 4). These might work better with the sauce on the side as they got REALLY soggy and weren’t finished by our group. Altogether a solid little burger shack that needs a little love to truly be a high hitter for me. NOTE: Call your order in and pick it up 15 minutes later if you no like sweat in the sun. There is an ATM by Sports Authority. I hope the owner considers alternative serving containers since this is a takeaway, like paper bags for fries(so they stay crisp) and cardboard box holders(more like W & M). Our overstuffed bag had a few tumbles in the car.

I love the name of this new truck as it makes me think of having a buddha belly. One day when I’m walking down the street someone is going to say: «Oh man, Emi has gotten way Momo» or «Look at the size of her Momo!» This will be good for Momo, but I probably have gotten in touch with my Samoan side. While at Eat The Street Winterfest, I ordered the teriyahi burger and it was lovely. Not just a May’s patty fried on a grill but high quality beef prepared with care. My only gripe, which was really my own fault for not omitting it when ordering, was that my burger had cheese on it. That just didn’t work for me as I solemnly believe that the worlds of teri and dairy should never collide. The burger was still yummy but it was really the spicy sweet potato fries which captured my full attention! They’re like a BBQ Lay’s chip and completely addictive! You must try them! Please note that if you’re in rush this isn’t going to be a fast pick up. We waited a while for our food but it was well worth the wait. On this last day of 2011 let’s make a resolution to all get Momo make-overs in 2012!!! Unilocal 365 Challenge: #120/365(The Momo Make-Over)

The Kimchi Burger($ 7) is a ¼-pound, 100% grass-fed beef patty cooked to order, topped with Kochujang aioli(Korean-influenced), kimchi slaw, kalbi glaze, and toasted sesame seeds on a freshly baked potato bun. Yup, they make their own buns! Where’s the«+1» button when you need it? I liked the creaminess of the aioli with the crunchy, fresh kimchi slaw. The minor dab of spice in those toppings awoke my taste buds from their usual slumber. The kalbi glaze contributed a bit of sweetness. I didn’t catch much sesame seed in this one. While the beef was cooked OK, I would have preferred it more on the pink side(cooked maybe around medium-rare to medium); this patty was near well-done status(yet still relatively juicy). The bun was very good. Light yet firm, but wisely tossed on the flattop grill(after a light oiling) for that extra toasty dimension! Great job here… love those grilled buns! I’m sure I tampered with the bun’s appearance when cutting the burger for the cross-section(so I could take the ever-sexy cross-section burger photo), oops. Colin does a homemade Asian 1000 Island-style sauce dubbed«Momo sauce.» A welcome addition to each burger, especially if homemade! Get a burger from Momo Burger today! And while I’m not much of a fries person, if you love the spuds, get their Spiced Sweet Potato Fries($ 4) or their Garlic Fries($ 3) while you’re at it!

Here’s another truck that deserves some good Unilocalalicious attention. Rain or shine, Colin and Lindsey are out at Tacoako Tuesday slaving away making burgers by the name of Momo. Hmm pretty catchy, Momo. Pretty catchy. I finally got the chance to eat the Bacon & Cheese(when available, this is my go-to) burger. I also ordered a side of garlic fries and waited for my order to be cooked up. Up on receiving my sack of delicious, I went back to my car to devour this baby(which has some weight). I tried the garlic fries first and oh muh gawd. These are the BEST garlic fries I’ve ever encountered. They’re skinny(but not shoestring, more Zippy’s) crisp, and topped with a secret creamy-garlicky concoction and fried garlic chips. That’s some class, mmhmm. These things will have you vampire-proof for days! If these were the least bit healthy(garlic is healthy right?) I would definitely be eating these daily. So goooooooood. So good. Just eat them right away or else they’ll get soggy. Now what you’ve all been waiting for. I, the Burger Snob, approve. This is «take a bite and sink deeply in your chair» good. Great in fact. The bun balances the burger which is topped with melted smoked gouda cheese(it’s goud-ah?!), thick-sliced bacon(which is as Tim P. says, «bite-able») grilled/caramelized onions and Momo sauce in all of its glory. I’m really impressed with this operation and so so so excited for them to do well. I have to admit, for something that comes from a truck, you will definitely not be dissapointed. In fact, you’re sure to come back to try all of their versions which may or may not be updated daily. Last time I also saw a Lamb Burger! Can I get an Oh-pah?!

This may be one of my first reviews with any sort of personal bias. Once upon a time, I sat next to a really chill guy in my english classes. This guy was kind of a punk — but I knew I was sitting next to the least annoying person in the classroom. This guy is Colin Sato, whom would one day open up a food truck called Momo Burger in the midst of the food truck hype. As a Unilocal Elite member, total foodie, and friend — it was destined for this review to happen. At the moment, Momo is only open on Tuesday and Friday — which is a real shame once I get into how delicious these burgers are. You can find them at Kaka’ako Park, alongside other favorites(and non-favorites) like Shogunai Tacos, Da Ala Truck, and so forth. One thing I noticed — the first wave of food trucks were really pretty. Bright bold graphics and clean interiors were the norm for places like Fairy Cakes, Gogi Truck, and Melt. Then something happened — really creepy and filthy looking pedo-vans became the norm for food trucks. Well here is the moment I assure you, despite being a new truck, this food truck has not succumbed to this laziness of presentation that’s plaguing other newbies. So lets talk about burgers now. Colin has 6 different burgers, all with a very unique touch. Smoked gouda, tzaziki sauce, balsamic reductions, and toasted sesame are amongst the touches that elevate these burgers above your standard. The main selling point of his basic burger is the Momo sauce — which I will need to return to judge in-depth it’s creamy goodness. I had myself a Bacon Cheese Burger. Sounds basic, right? WRONG. Caramelized onions, hickory smoked bacon, smoked gouda, and the momo sauce are beyond ordinary. I was lucky enough to try Umami Burger in SoCal, but this really takes the cake(or rather, takes the burger?). For those that don’t know, umami is the most abundant flavor receptor in our mouths. One can say it’s most similar to «savory.» It’s naturally found in meats, cheeses, and nori. One bite, the first thing I notice is how«bite-able» the bacon is. This is a common problem when I have bacon in any burger or sandwich. Bacon usually is resistant to my bite and I usually end up getting the whole strip in a bite. Not the case here, these were crispy bite-able pieces. All the smokey flavors, the onion, and the meaty goodness were all so ono; but with this party happening in my mouth, the momo sauce became the wallflower. Hence I need to return to judge the sauce more in-depth. Colin has a great thing going on. It’s nice to see a food truck that isn’t complacent and relying on the craze and hype to bring business, he’s actually putting in the work for the presentation and giving us something new!
