Mina Pharmacy

It is convenient. I work in the building. However, I have gone in MORE than once and been WAY overcharged. Every item is stamped with a price. When you take the item to the counter they scan the item and remove the tag. EVERY single time, (in the last year) i have been charged at least a dollar or more than what is listed. ONCE and only once did they tell me, «Oh, sorry it’s actually «the higher price», instead of honoring the lower and the other times they just charged me the higher and said nothing. Since I am normally going in when I am sick and it is convenient I never mention it to them either.

I dont really go to Pharmacies a lot, if I do go it would be the nearest Longs. However my friend was getting his wisdom teeth removed in the Bank Of Hawaii building in Ala Moana, and I went to pick up his prescription. The lady at the dental office told me there was a pharmacy on the 5^th floor, so it was just convenient to go there.
First, it or they. (the atmosphere of the place… or the staff) gives you a feel that you should be Korean to go or be there. The staff was not all that friendly either. I waited at the counter to drop off the paper… more like waited for the girls to finish talking to each other about what to eat for lunch. and after they finally helped me, i was told.
okay, sit there we will call you.
I think I will stick to my neighborhood Longs.

Sometimes it’s all about location. When you’re in pain and in desperate need for relief, why go one or two blocks to Walgreens, Sam’s club, or Walmart? This place is conveniently located if you have to be in the building anyway. Mina Pharmacy is located in the Ala Moana Building on the fifth floor.
I had to stop by here after taking my mom to the doctor’s office to pick up her prescriptions. The workers are mostly Korean, but they speak English very well. They are able to multitask very well too. The lady that was helping me was looking up my mom’s insurance info, complaining about the flowers attached to their pens to a coworker, and working on another order all at the same time!
The office is a little noisy with the workers talking loud to one another. The prices are a little higher, but not outrageous. The wait time was reasonable and only took about 10 minutes. Restrooms are very close by and keys are available from the pharmacy. Will stop by again if I need to pick up medicine and I’m in the building.

Came here while my son was having all of his wisdom teeth removed… didn’t know of this pharmacy until the dentist told us that we could get the pain reliever filled downstairs on the 5^th floor of the building (the Ala Moana Building)…
Greeted nicely upon entry (this was about a little after 9am on a Saturday morning) by several of the staff members… kindly asked me questions and assisted me throughout the process… Prescription was filled within 7 – 8 minutes.
Explained the strong painkiller effects, etc to us — not rushing at all. felt like we’ve used them and they know US! All of them thanked us again when we left… we left there with a very nice, warm feeling of customer service at its FINEST!
Also like that they had a fair number of Dr. Comfort brand shoes to look at, a good variety of get well cards, etc. and sufficient number of snacks!!! and plenty of chairs to sit while waiting for one’s prescriptions…

I was just here yesterday in search for crutches… Yes boohoo I hurt my foot :’(.
So I come in asking for crutches and a very nice young guy Rhemi assisted me. He checked if they had any in stock but they had none, which was fine, it happens. Then I asked if possibly the Waikiki Kuhio Pharmacy has crutches he checks and comes back with RESULTS… Kuhio Pharmacy had none in stock, so he went the extra mile and checked what closest place had crutches in stock and which place was cheapest… How sweet right!!! :) He also gave me an address and I found it so easily… It was a big help, thank you for the time you took to help me, it seemed really busy and you still put the effort to help a person that didn’t even purchase anything at the pharmacy. You deserve my 5 stars!

Pros
+ On the 5^th floor of the Ala Moana building, with lots of doctor’s offices in the same building. It is easy to go to the doctor’s office and get your prescription filled all in 1 trip.
+ Free parking at Ala Moans shopping center.
+ Open on Saturdays too
Cons
— The service is slower than other pharmacies. I regularly have to wait for 30 to 45 minutes after I drop off the prescriptions until the medicine is ready.
— They need a better system. Lots of people try to cut in line and talk to the workers to get their prescriptions filled first.
— Lots of chitchatting between the workers and the customers they know, while the other customers are waiting for a long time.
