Advising all guys, if you’re looking for a fade or barber services; DONOTGOHERE! After explicitly calling ahead and asking for straight shave services and fades, the old guy Mario decided to do his version of a fade. Throughout the process, I kept stopping him saying he was either going to high on one side, not keeping the fade even, not even fading nor neglecting to use a single razor shave. Afterwards, he charged me $ 52 for something a one armed blinded animal could have done twice as better. Avoid this place completely, I should have listened to the locals and went to places in Chinatown instead. DONOTGOHERE!

My boyfriend was in desperate need of a shave. Why not a bic, you ask? Because 2 weeks of growth doesn’t do well with a bic apparently. And you can’t trim a goatee with a bic or safety scissors. Our concierge pointed us to Mario’s in the Outrigger complex. Mario happened to be in and was able to get K in for a hot, straight razor shave. He’s a very diligent, quiet man and expertly trimmed and shaved away. Finished with a hot towel, lotion, and baby powder because… Old school. Pricey, but you’re on the main drag in Waikiki. Mario gave K a better shave than he could ever, give himself so it was worth every penny.

We are on the end of a long trip and really needed emergency work to tidy up before heading home. The shop was on easy walk from our hotel room along the Waikiki beach and was recommended to us by several people. They were able to get us in immediately. The staff were friendly and chatted while they worked. My husband usually goes to a barber and this was a little more than he would pay, at $ 31 for a cut, but they did a great job. Mine was a cut, colour and blow dry. At $ 167, this too is more than I would pay at home but I still think that isn’t too expensive compared to prices I have heard about. Joanna was lovely and discussed with me comfortably about what I wanted. We feel like new people and would recommend this hairdresser.

I went in for a wash and blowdry, she did a good job but I nearly had a heart attack when she charged me $ 58 U.S. for it! I could get a wash/cut/blowdry for that where I come from. This salon did not look ‘upscale’, actually looked quite run down. So my advice to anyone getting any type of service ANYWHERE in Waikiki is to ask the price BEFORE they give you the service. I felt totally taken advantage of.

Basically, a non-chain version of Great Clips or Supercuts. Super-friendly Chinese ladies hanging out, waiting for customers to come in from off the main street, on vacation or locals. $ 31 isn’t exactly cheap for a haircut, but it’s Hawaii and everything is at a premium. So not shocking. A middle-of-the-road haircut for me. It’s not a professional stylist like the Gendarmerie in Los Angeles, but it’s certainly respectable and I don’t look like I got attacked by a meth-head with a Flowbee, like I have at a few of the cheaper chains, now and again. Convenient and«fine», nothing more and nothing less.

I was looking for a barber to cut my sons hair, but could not find one near our hotel. I do not recommend this place. The lady cutting his hair messed up my sons hair the day of the wedding. Then didn’t say anything until I went to inspect. She cut his hair way beyond what was acceptable. No prices to indicate cost.

Why only three stars? Two of the nail technicians spent almost an hour making catty comments at each other, trying to get clients to pick sides(and join in). When that did not work, they started sniping at each other in Vietnamese. Work place drama is fine but really, not in front of your customers. It was a little dingy(to my standards atleast) but my nails held up for almost a week. They survived a rehearsal dinners, a beach wedding, after wedding drinking and many hours in the ocean.

I needed my hair shaved off while on vacation, and they did a good job of that. Nothing spectacular about this place, but nothing bad either. The time I went 3 Asian ladies were cutting a variety of hair(Men, Women, white, black, …etc). They cut basic haircuts well. They charge around $ 20(Keep in mind everything in Hawaii is expensive). I would definitely recommend this place if your looking for a quick easy haircut on your vacation.

This place is simple. No frills, no hairstylist’s with attitude, just a simple, borderline barber shop. When I am in need of a haircut I prefer not to wait in line or make a special appointment. I just want to sit down and get a my hair cut. I have never waited longer than twenty minutes, which was actually only once to get a haircut. I just went next door to grab a Mai Tai at Dukes. Most of the time I just walk in and able to sit in the chair. What you get here is a simple haircut. They are able to do more with a higher fee, but if you want a simple no frills haircut this is the place to go.
