I rarely go to the back of the store because it is clutter city and an ATM in the midst of it. Reminds me of Hoarders. Thank God there are no earthquakes here because you would be buried alive.

Been coming here since I was in elementary school! Now I’m in college about to graduate! I remember when they used to be $ 1~ my parents would always give me money or buy us musubis before school or after. I love their secret sauce and their musubis were always the best. You can never go wrong with spam and rice.
The lady is quite nice to me, she remembers me and smiles. Her husband gives a standoffish vibe. But I always say thank you and give them whatever small change is left over from my total!
Any who, I recommend to anyone to craves a musubi ~

Owned by husband and wife team this little convenient store actually cranks out petty solid food for cheap prices in addition to their deliciously teriyaki flavored spam that spills into the rice soaking up the flavor making the rice sweet as well, so the perfect blend of salty and sweet from the spam add egg and rice instant perfection of quick warm breakfast for $ 1.75!!! 2 of these quick bad boys and I’m a happy camper!
They also make very cheap $ 4 bentos of rice and beef broccoli or pork and bitter mellon, fish and veggies or ma po tofu which is tofu with ground pork… it’s sweet and spicy to go with the rice I tell you it’s the best for $ 4!!! I always have a little leftover for a snack after so it’s a great little spot very convenient for commuters!
They sell variety of candy bars, sodas etc., typical convenient store but with a wonderful twist of great cheap hot food!
Give them a try, I guarantee you won’t regret it.

Sign me up for that secret sauce. I got to try their famous musubi and thought it was okay. My rice was gummy so I wasn’t a fan but the spam was GOOD. Well marinated — I can see what the fuss is all about.
Mama and Papa-​chan didn’t crack a smile… but my coworker was able to squeeze a smile/​chuckle from Mama-​san at the end talking about their cute dog. I would definitely try their musubi again!

The other day I had a very engaging conversation about the best spam musubi. Familiar names was mentioned but then my friend said the best musubi is at Kukui Convenience across HPU Downtown. So I made a long walk there just to try their musubi. It was a bit difficult to find, just look for the intersection behind the stairs on the first floor and you will see a big sign which says Best Musubi in Hawaii. With a statement like that I was excited to try. Its a small convenience store with bentos near the front door. I walked in and was lured by the $ 4.00 bentos, however I was determined. I am here for spam musubis so I will only get that. I immediately noticed she had a portable stove top and was in the process in making some fresh musubis. So nice to know she makes it fresh. I ordered 2 musubis with egg for $ 1.75 each.
First of all not bad price for a spam musubi with egg. I took a bite and a smile to my face appeared. The spam was well flavored and the nori was not soggy. The rice was not overbearing and perfect amount to a good size flavored spam. I will not officially claim this to be the best spam musubi on the island. I honestly can’t say what is the best, however I can say KUKUI CONVENIENCE is one of my favorites.

Mamasan and her husband always look grumpy, but as their sign affirms, their fricking spam musubi’s are to die for. The rice is not gummy, while their spam are boiled in their «secret» sauce and wrapped in a wonderful cruncy nori wrapper.
$ 1.75 is what she charges for a spam musubi with egg, but so worth it.

Mushy ass rice today. Waste my $ 1.75 :(
If you make rice 365 days a year how is it possible to mess it up???

Its a mom and pop kinda store .This place is my favorite place to come to when I take my children to the doctors. We always make it a point to stop by and get something. (Its a good treat for the kids, after they have their shots. aawww) but anyhow, my kids love their spam musubi and I love their garlic chicken plate, for some reason its not that bad at all. You can get a plate or a bento style, which is very affordable!!! (big big plus). Happy eatings =)!!

This is my favorite place to go before work! I work in Waikiki, and food there is really expensive. As a poor college student, eating in Waikiki is a no-​no (Except Marukame Udon of course!). Mapo Tofu, Garlic and Orange Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, Musubis, and etc! The prices are pretty good for the portions. I usually get a bento (Idk where they get their Char Siu from, but it’s delicious!) and a Musubi, and that’s just under $ 6!
Service is okay, don’t expect amazing and friendly people. I believe it’s only a Husband and Wife running the store, since I see the same people every time I go. I’m not too sure of this, but I think if you order a full plate lunch after 5 PM, they microwave your food, so it’s better to stick with the bentos they have remaining after 5 PM.
Worth a visit if you’re in the area looking for some food, and don’t want to deal with the busy hour down in fort street mall where all the HPU students are.

This is where you go for the best spam musubi! The spam is perfectly cooked with just the right flavors. I’ve stopped in at all times of the day and they’re constantly making musubis throughout the day in order to sell them when they’re fresh. If you need a little more than a musubi, they have hot food, sandwiches and all kinds of snacks.
Don’t be confused with the other store right across the hall from them. Just follow the sign that says Best Musubi in Hawaii!

I’ve been sick and didn’t want to go far. So I stopped in to Kukui convenience store. I ordered 2 combo bentos. $ 4 each. One with garlic chicken/​mushroom chicken and the other garlic chicken/​mapo tofu. I also bought a homemade brownie for dessert. The garlic chicken was slightly stale from sitting in the warmer all morning, but it was tasty. Th mapo tofu and mushroom chicken was yummy. It’s not fine dining, but fitting for its name «bento». It’s much better then the normal chicken, spam, and hot dog bentos. Worth the $ 4!

Hands down BEST SPAM MUSUBI on the Island!!!

Im surprised this place has been under the radar for so long, located across from HPU & downtown business area I thought this place would be busier when I come in the morning. I’m usually here @ 8am for my Deluxe Spam Musubi’s! ONLY $ 1.50!!! BEST PRICE! come early & your spam musubi is FRESH!!! You can hear the NORI crunch biting into it! thats how fresh it is!
If you love spam musubi’s, you GOTTA TRY! If you don’t like it, its still cheaper than any other place I know of for a spam & egg musubi.
