January 29,2016 around 2:35pm I ordered their dragon maki. I felt a sharp object down my throat so I puked it out and a plastic came out. I went back to not get a refund but to inform them to be more cautious while making their food. The cashier said, «Sorry. If you returned this earlier, we would’ve gave you a new one» but the guy who made my sushi only said«oh I know where this is from…» then led the girl to the back without an apology. So be careful when you consider about ordering your sushi here!

I thought everything I ordered were pretty good… Rice portion was a bit too much on maki(rolls) but I enjoyed everything I had. I took one star off because the lady who was at the cash register was extremely rude.

I’m vegetarian, poor, and want brown rice — Kozo meets all three criteria! Soba noodles are only $ 4.99 and you can get hand rolls for less than 2 dollars. In a place where it’s scarily easy to spend $ 12 – 15 on a fast lunch this place is a gem.

Got the hurricane roll. It was huge and hard to eat. The shrimp was overlooked or something because it was tough. And they put a horrible wasabi sauce on it

Their food is good… Meanwhile their customer service is just terrible. These employees can’t think for themselves. I ordered a Teriyaki Chicken Bento, saying it loud and clearly at the time. Another staff worker was next to him at the time. He confirms that my bento order is a teriyaki chicken bento. I say yes. Minutes later I get the bento wrapped up and I get a chicken Katsu and I just can’t eat fried things, it just doesn’t sit well with me. I politely tell the staff that I ordered a Teriyaki Chicken Bento. They say«No you Didn’t ». I just say I clearly did. I mean come on I said it loud and clear and the other employee heard me. The employee joins in with the boy and tells me that I didn’t. I don’t even like Chicken Katsu(sorry to all the chicken Katsu lovers) and I have never said Chicken Katsu in YEARS so I don’t know if it’s just me or these people but I don’t even get a partial refund or any apology at all.

Nothing more than a fast food style sushi joint… which isn’t a bad thing. Spicy Ahi bowls are grossly overpriced though.

Poor quality fish and poor service! I ordered the hurricane maki today and the salmon on top was absolutely disgusting and inedible! I just threw it all away. It was so bad! As for the service, the cashier didn’t even greet me and answered my questions with an attitude.

It isn’t gourmet but it’s good simple sushi. Each location may have their own special creations as they have different owners. This location doesn’t have very convenient parking, but if you are in the area(shopping/work) — they have decent sushi for a decent price. Customer service has always been good each time I visited :)

I gave a very low rating for this Kozo sushi outlet and am back for more criticism because of my utter disappointment in this particular establishment. The first review I gave them was for poorly made sushi that was skimpy, old tasting and fell apart upon handling. Bad, i know but I was spending the evening before Easter near to this outlet and so I special ordered some party trays for an Easter brunch. My order was placed 2 days in advance. I called them expressly telling them that I wanted to pickup my order at 10:00 which they said was no problem even though they opened at 10. Grateful for that since I had to be at the brunch at 10:30. I ordered a huge party platter, on S nigiri bento and 5 spam musubi for the kids. I repeated the order, the clerk repeated the order, she told me the amount and I approved it. On Easter Sunday I arrived about 10:10 and there was my order waiting on the counter. I was only the third customer in line but and was quickly served by a young girl who I believe actually took my order over the phone. She set the bags before me, one with the platter of assorted maki and a smaller package with my S nigiri(loaded with gourmet nigiri for a pescatarian guest who only eats seafood. No meat, no fowl, only fish. This particular guest never complains but is often ignored and meats of every kind are served at parties where he quietly serves himself salad and rice if he must. The young girl actually announced, «one maki platter, one S nigiri and 5 spam musubi.» Good enough. Paid almost $ 70.00 for my sushi and out the door I strode. When I got to the party I was livid. I told the guest I had gotten him a special bento because he was so often ignored at these gatherings. He smiled. When I opened up the packages, his S nigiri, which was supposed to be filled with masago, ikura, unagi, ika, tako, etc. was merely a salmon lover;s bento. Pieces of paper thin salmon on some rice. I was livid. I excused myself and went into another room to call Kozo to express my dismay. OK, I was pissed. The girl who answered the phone stammered and stuttered when I told her how upset I was. The cost difference was just a little over a dollar but I had ordered something special, or so I thought and I asked her how she was going to make it right. She blabbered and repeated me so much that I got angrier by the second. Then that sweet pescatarian came into the room I was in and I didn’t want him to hear my conversation but I was still nonetheless really, really furious. Especially since the young girl kept stammering and wouldn’t tell me to come back in for a refund, or accept her apology with a gift card… nothing! I finally gave up trying to get this dummy to understand me and I told her that I would forget it and wished her a Happy Easter. Still blubbering a variety of words she returned my Happy Easter. I forgave her that day even though I was livid. Forgive her, yes. But this shitty Kozo outlet has made its’ last dime on this sucker. My fault for trusting that this shitty outlet would finally get it right. Kozo Keeaumoku, you suck.

SORUDE. WORSTSERVICEEVER. Didnt come here in a while so i was happy to come again. Ordered the spicy ahi don as usual but wanted to get something extra. Nicely asked the cashier some questions about the makis(8 piece sushi rolls) like what was her favorite and what’s popular. I even asked for detail, like what’s inside. I ended up ordering the DYNAMITEMAKI. The reason I put 1 star is because when I opened maki, there was Wasabi mayo on it. My boyfriend went to go ask them if that was Wasabi mayo and if we could get it without. They told us no so he asked for a refund and they said no. She didnt tell us there was wasabi on it. I HATE Wasabi and just don’t like the taste of it. I didn’t eat the maki because it was covered in wasabi. So my boyfriend had to shove it down his throat because he doesn’t like to waste. I was kind of annoyed that they gave no service what so ever. But being a nice person I let it go. A few minutes after this happened, the 2 employees started talking like we weren’t even there about how we were being complicated. That really pissed me off, that was rude, disrespectful, and out of line. They didn’t help is at all so they shouldn’t even have a problem. They were also laughing and making us like a joke. so the owner can check who was working that day it was Saturday, February 7, 2015 before 4:00 pm. I am never coming back here again and I will not go anywhere the 2 girls are working. This is THEWORSTSERVICE I HAVEEVERHAD. I HAVENEVERBEENTHISDESRESPECTEDBEFORE. Had the fried ebi bento… which have me food poisoning… pretty sure the shrimp was fried in the same oil as the chicken and other tempura items. Probably never come back. Please enforce cleaner and higher standards when it comes to cooking your food.

Nice location but small store. Can’t really seat a lot of people maybe 10 comfortably. Lots of outdoor seating but you have to deal with the homeless.

Fast food sushi: Quick. Convenient. OK quality. Relatively inexpensive. Shop is very small. Not the kind of place to sit and eat. Better for take-out. Note: their spicy ahi is minced, not cubed, creating an «interesting» texture. Personally, I prefer my ahi cubed. Also, it wasn’t very flavorful. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t great either. If you’re in the area, you might want to venture up the road to Keeaumoku Seafood instead.

Ehhh, this location is convenient; its located next to golden coin and jamba juice in the Walmart/Sams Club complex on Koreamoku. Its fast and decent sushi for cheapcheap. I can’t really complain too much about the food because it’s your typical take out sushi place, you cant expect amazing sushi from here. I like that there is such a large variety, and that there are plenty of visual aids to accompany the menu. They have handrolls, nigiri, combination sets, party trays and udon. I usually get a spicy ahi bowl. For $ 6.70 its comparable to poke bowls you can get at foodland or Onos, not as big or as delicious, but not terrible either. It’s a good compromise when I don’t have time to go to foodland or Onos. If you know what you want, you can call ahead and pick it up without a wait. There are also a few tables and counter options both inside and outside the establishment. It’s also clean and brightly lit. The staff isn’t amazingly friendly. The cashier seemed a little overwhelmed when I went to pick up my food last time, but she was nice and I was in and out in a few minutes. I usually hate trying to conquer that walmart parking lot, so I try to find street parking on Makaloa. Good luck!

Don’t order spicy tuna bowl here unless you like the look and texture of cat food. Took one bite and spit it out. When I complained to the cashier, she got an attitude. Horrible food, horrible service.

You get what you pay for. The sushi is pretty cheap. I bought 3 of us lunch for $ 22. I got the S-Nigiri combo(9pieces) and a cucumber maki roll(6pieces), mom got the spicy ahi-don, and dad got the lunch box(15 pieces). The fish was fresh and the fish/rice ratio was ok. The spicy ahi wasn’t spicy and the bowl of spicy ahi don my mom got didn’t have green onions on top(my sushi had little bit). My nigiri was good. Maybe I was just hungry but I at it all. Dad had some left overs(I think 15 pieces is plenty for an old man to eat?). Service: the lady was patient while we stood there trying to decide what we wanted. Only bottled drinks, no cups for water. Food was fast and if you eat there they bring it out to the front on a little tray so it’s easier for you to carry it to your seat. Food: good for the price. This is not Jiro’s sushi bar. The food is decent and fast. And it definitely beats McDonald’s! Parking is in the Sam’s Club/Walmart parking lot. Lots of spaces, but lots of people. Kozo Sushi is out on the street past Starbucks and Jamba Juice. Good place to come eat after you shop. I’ll definitely come again when I’m ono for some sushi.

Kozo Sushi on Keeamoku prepares fast medium level sushi at a great price! I always order the Deluxe Nigiri Set for $ 29.99 which has 27 Nigiri sushi &18 Hosomaki(45 pieces total!). Always check the Dining out section of the Sunday paper for a $ 2 off coupon off a party platter. When I’m in a rush(I usually am when I go to this place), call in your order then park on the Makaloa side of Walmart and run in to pick up your order. They have always had my order waiting!!! Great service!
