Came here after the Koko Crater Hike on a warm day for shaved ice with my parents and Mr. Piano, and the shaved ice was pretty good :) I’ve actually been here before once or twice on previous visits to that hike, but I guess I probably didn’t have a Unilocal account at that point. The selection is decent, and my mom enjoyed the red bean topping on her shaved ice, but the girls at the counter missed a lot of things from our order. Even though we made a point of asking for red bean(I had made the suggestion to my mother to try it, as she hadn’t before, so I made sure she ordered it), they claimed they hadn’t heard us and charged my dad extra for it even though I’m pretty sure they had charged us for it in the original order. Also, they missed a flavor on my dad’s shaved ice, and then forgot the condensed milk on mine. In fact, I think Mr. Piano is the only one who got exactly what he ordered without having to go back! I don’t remember having had this experience before, so maybe the girls behind the counter were new that day or something, but you should definitely check and make sure you get what you ordered with ALL the toppings you paid for. It’s a good location, and convenient to a couple of hiking spots, so I am likely to stop by again sometime, but I’ll definitely be careful that I get everthing I ordered from here on out…

COOKIESANDCREAM W/MOCHI BALLS. That is all I’ve ever tried at Kokonuts and what everyone should be trying at Kokonuts. Mochi balls taste perfect with the cookies and cream milkshake and taste so much better than boba because they actually have taste and they are so much softer than boba. This drink never disappoints and is the perfect drink after a hike or day at the beach.

The shaved ice is the best you will ever get, well unless you are willing to travel to the North Pole. I highly recommend the Li Mui, Mango, and Lilikoi flavors! The service was slow and the employees were not the cheeriest. Every time we go to Hawaii Kai we make sure to include this as a stop in our day. — Nate

A good, standard shaved ice place near the Makapuu lighthouse trail. I personally prefer the organic syrups of places like Island Vintage, but my sister got shaved ice here(and apparently, so did Obama), and said it was ok — the ice itself wasn’t as fine or smooth as other places.

Kokonuts has the convenience store feel. The walls are covered with menus for shave ice and special drinks. You can buy soda or go for shave ice. Their shave ice is very delicious. They let you choose from 15+ flavours, which are all delicious. Great place to just swing by, grab a shave ice and head out. –Food Captain

After a hike on Makapu’u Lighthouse Trail this hit the spot. Wife got a small which was more than enough for her, I got a medium which was huge! A couple can definitely share one order. We just added condensed milk which I think is a must but they also offer other options. We came back a few days later. Service both times were great!

Kokonuts is the place to go after the beach or a hike… They have THEBEST smoothies/shakes, and their shave ice was surprisingly really, really good. Probably one of the best ones I’ve had so far(bc the ice is so soft). Their acai bowls are okay, but they’re big and you can choose b/t sweetened or unsweetened which is nice. This place is CASHONLY.

I always come here with my boyfriend to have some delicious treat after fishing and we love it. My boyfriend usually gets their milk tea bubble drink with Mochi and boba. I usually get the same or the chocolate version. If not, I get their crepes with chocolate ice cream and they’re HUGE! Their food/drinks tastes very sweet and lovely. They even have shave ice, and people seem to love it. Even Obama!(There’s a picture of him with their shave ice). Sounds pretty good to me~ We love it, and I’m sure you will too.

I’ll keep it short and simple: my FAVORITE bubble drink place on the island … Strawberry banana with MOCHIBALLS! The MOCHI balls definitely make it

There were so many new foods that I tried in Hawaii. It was like being in a new country! My friend, who is Hawaiian, has been talking about acai bowl for ages and I’m so glad I finally got to try one! We had no line at this location. Seeing as it was our first time, we obviously sprung for the supreme bowl. It was great! I loved how thick the blended acai is, it’s more of a sorbet than a smoothie and very flavorful. And then when you add honey, granola and strawberries on top, it becomes even better. Highly recommend!

Best Acai Bowls! I loved that you have the option of blending your acai bowl with soy milk or apple juice. Also, you can have the option of using sweetened acai or unsweetened acai. The toasted shredded coconuts on top add a nice touch too!

There I was… standing at the counter and staring at the menu. I could NOT decide which acai bowl to get! Then I thought YOLO I’m only in Hawaii for a few more days, so I went with the monstrous Acai Supreme. This 24oz bowl has two packets of acai, banana, berries, soy milk, organic granola, honey, and coconut flakes. Now that I’m back in California, I still dream about this acai bowl. It was so cool and refreshing(and healthy!) which was perfect during a hot Hawaii day. This Kokonuts location is at the Koko Marina Center. Plenty of parking and no line when we went during a weekday, though I can imagine this place gets busy on the weekends. Totally worth going out of my way to come back here again… and when I say going out of my way, I mean flying back to Hawaii for another trip and putting this on my itinerary again.

Koko nuts has good shave ice and acai bowls. Their flavored for shave ice are not hand made with real fruit, but it still tastes super good. There are pics of Obama in there because he goes there when on the island. You should come try!

Kokonuts is one of my favorite places to eat an Acai bowl! President Obama has also been to Kokonuts, but for shave ice. They even made his favorite flavors as a menu item! Lol. Now that I think of it, the past few times I’ve gone, I notice most people go for the shave ice, but I personally prefer their Acai. LOCATION In the Koko Marina shopping complex, near Paina and Teddy’s. Parking can be annoying sometimes on the weekends, but you can usually find parking eventually. Kokonuts is a small store that mainly sells shave ice, Acai bowls, and other small snacks. FOOD I highly recommend the Acai supreme because it comes with the amazing toasted coconut on top. I actually don’t like coconut but I love the toasted coconut on the Acai bowl. It adds an extra crunch with the granola, and a very subtle coconut taste. So perfect for these hot days! Also note, you can order the Acai bowl with apple juice or soy milk. They will ask you which one you want. Apple juice makes the Acai more sweet, while the soy milk makes it more creamy — I personally prefer the soy.

1. VERDICT/VALUE In Hawaii Kai or simply finished hiking Koko Head and in need of refreshments? This is your place for cheap shave ice, shakes, and candy! Only cash is accepted. 2. FOOD Shave ice starts at $ 2.50 for a small bowl with rainbow or two flavors, but the portions are reasonably sized. A myriad of add-ons are available like many other places. They use syrup here instead of real ingredients, but hey, you’re not parting with too may dollar bills to get the shave ice in the first place. Acai bowls and a fair selection of candy are a delight — great place to check out even if you’re not looking for something cold! 3. SERVICE It’s good, fast and efficient, which is important in a place that is steady with traffic. 4. ATMOSPHERE It’s really a convenience store that specializes in shave ice; there’s a little bay window you could sit in, but you’re likely going to be sitting somewhere outside enjoying your treats. Parking is as available as the crowd in Koko Marina Center will allow.

I love the shave ice from this place. Their portions are huge and their prices are reasonable. It seems that every time we’re at the Koko Marina Shopping Center we always stop by. I’ve been to many shave ice spots and this is one of the best. Their shave ice is smooth with no chunks of ice in it. My son loves the rainbow with condensed milk. The husband likes the pog, lilikoi and pineapple with condensed milk and mochi balls. Their portions are so big that I just usually share with my son since he can’t finish it. There is always a line when we go. I’ve seen quite a few people order the acai bowls. I’ve never tried it but it looks really appetizing. The also serve crepes that are made to order. Yummy!

I cannot, will not leave Koko Marina Shopping Center before stopping at Moena Café, Kokonuts or(on good days) both. One of my favorite places for milk teas because you can get it with tapioca, mochi or both! I am in love with their milk tea with mochi. I get it every time. My kid love the shave ice here and the energy bars that are as big as your face look amazing. Great place to take the kids for a snack.

After finishing the Kokohead hike, we decided to get some Jamba Juice but lo and behold we noticed this shaved ice spot. What we really attracted me was the huge picture of President Obama. Endorsed by Obama I was convinced to check it out. Ambiance: Parking: Coming here on a late weekday afternoon, it was fairly packed but I think that’s because the plaza was under construction. Other than that we found parking with ease. Seating: * Not much seating but a wall that holds plants where you can pretty much sit. Feels: * It wasn’t packed at all and I was pretty surprised. Perhaps it gets more packed during the weekends. The shop seemed very local and had various items from acai bowls to shaved ice. Food: Lilikoi, and li hing powder. Definitely a sweet local combination. Especially with that lilikoi topped with that spice from the powder makes it extra delicious Customer Service: We got our orders quick. When we asked about their President Obama experience, apparently he bought shaved ice for 16 people which included his family and body guards. Overall: 4.5 stars. This place is great. From the price, friendliness, and the Obama factor definitely gives it a boost. I would recommend this to anyone and definitely can see myself coming back here, especially complimented with a Kokohead hike. Tips: * Great treat after the Kokohead hike OR you can prep snacks before you hike. A great Hawaiian experience for the tourists.
