One of the most rude and unhelpful doctor I’ve ever come across! His attitude toward me as a patient or my condition of my eye was as if it didn’t matter to him. His explanations(if asked) were lecture like and brief. I could sense that he didn’t like me for whatever reason from the first appointment as I could hear his tone of voice change with other patients. I called in once to make an emergency appointment because my eye had flared up. His nurse called back 2 days later and told me that Dr Karas said I’d have to come in tomorrow and try and squeeze in with the doctor on call that day BECAUSE I wasn’t his regular patient! This is somewhat true because I was actually«assigned» to him for follow up after visiting the emergency room at Straub earlier in the year. But I was also seeing him regularly for about 3-months to follow up on my eye problem. So calling him for the emergency visit seemed logical since he had all my records. That was the last straw and have since switched doctors! It is my opinion that this man appears to be prejudice and translates this toward how he selectively treats his patients. I’ve since told other people in the opthalmology community about my experience and hear of similar stories. I can’t say if it’s true, but this is the way I was treated and it shouldn’t be that way when it comes to critical health issues! I only gave him one star because I needed to in order to enter this message. He doesn’t even deserve a star!!!

My husband’s recent experience was quite different. Dr. Karas did hubby’s cataract surgery yesterday and follow up today with professionalism and efficiency. The doctor had six other patients scheduled for surgery in the morning and all went very smoothly. Healing is going as expected and looking forward to another follow up in a week and to surgery for the other eye in a month. Thank you, Dr. Karas, for helping me see better, said my husband!

Not a very nice doctor – lacks the people skills. I expect a doctor to treat his patients with customer service skills and not with harsh language and moody tone. I can give you detailed examples: msg me. Never encountered a doctor like this. I was supposed to return to him for a follow up but canceled and will have my follow up with a respected doctor.
