Location is great. A minute walk away from Don Quiote, 4 minutes walk to Ala Moana Center, Walmart just 5 minutes to get there. Rental price is reasonable, but misleading with a 1 bedroom noted on Craigslist, newspaper classified, and other rental apps. Itd a sliding door partition. Still a good place to stay.

So on the plus side is location. It is conveniently located close to Don Q’s and major transit lines. Unfortunately the down sides are many. The building has no lobby and a strange entrance. It is in significant need of maintenance and general cleaning. The parking lot facing units are very very loud. Car stereos and alarm blare all through the night. There are 3 elevators(when they are working) to service 400+ units which can lead to a significant wait. The what seems like a dozen people that work in the building are creepy and overbearing. I had one stop by my apartment to «check in on me». Talk about a weird invasion of privacy. Bottom line is that there are many better offerings in town. I’m glad I move out and would encourage others to pass this place by.

This building ended up being the best combination of location, price, and features for me. Makai facing units have a great view of the Hawaii convention center, ala wai canal(far enough away so it looks sort of clean), the intersection of Kapiolani and Kalakaua, and the ewa side of Waikiki, but are noisy due to constant traffic. Mauka view units have a less spectacular view of the don Quixote supermarket and parking lots but are much quieter. Units are small and while listed as one bedrooms, are really just big studios. Pros: Maintenance fee includes electricity, water, sewer, and one parking. Don Quixote, Ala Moana, and countless other Keeaumoku/Kaheka shopping within walking distance. Easy to rent out for investors. On major bus line for non-drivers. Small pool on roof. Good breeze on high floors. Well maintained by friendly staff. Priced at an attainable level for first-time buyers, especially lone/single-income buyers. Cons: Maintenance fees rising fast in the last couple of years. Noisy on the makai side, even when high up. Old building. AC not allowed. Somewhat high price/rent for size. Coin-operated shared laundry, per floor. Only 3 elevators for 400+ units. Sometimes irritating metal fob system.
