Yes you saw 5-stars… no double take needed. I l.o.v.e. this shopping center… I’m here almost everyday. It has almost everything I need for survival(Exception of clothing, but that’s what Kahala mall is for). As others have said, this tiny shopping center is anchored by Times Supermarket(downstairs) and Longs Drugs Store/CVS(main level), who’ve been here foooooorever… and I frequent almost on a daily. I used to work at this Longs store back in the day. Love their electric vehicle parking stalls(with chargers at the front)! I miss Columbia Inn coffee shop — but Fairwood is decent… I’m just breakfast-food-biased. Cookie Corner has also been a long-time tenant(and one of my go-to places for last-minute gifts). American Savings Bank and Hawaii State Federal Credit Union are also on the main level. There are ton of Dr. Offices upstairs on the third level: dentists, physical therapists, and optometrists(my eye Dr. is especially awesome — shout out to Dr. Mark Teruya!). I also believe there is a lash studio here too now — BeautiGoddess, where you can have get your lashes permed, tinted, or have extensions, never been, but maybe in the future… Downstairs, along with Times, there is a J. Hara Store for your archery, fishing, ammo needs. I think there is still a sushi place — «The Sushi Place» — but I haven’t tried them yet. Maybe on a cheat day! Yea, parking is tight… this shopping center was built a long time ago — just like everything in hawaii — lack of real estate leaves no room to expand the parking lot except to build up and causing detrimental reduction and loss income for the vendors here. Small stores have come and gone, but typically Longs, Times, medical offices, banks and some form of restaurants have remained the constant. I love this shopping center and will continue to be a lifelong patron.

I grew up coming to this shopping center all the time… Through the years, a few businesses have come & gone, but the two main anchor stores — Times Super Market & Longs Drugs have remained steadfast at this small shopping center. Not a whole lot of shops at the Kaimuki Shopping Center, but it has what I need, and the convenience factor is great for me. A few shops that are located at this small shopping center - 1. Long’s Drugs 2. Times Super Market 3. Cookie Corner 4. Fantastic Sams 5. American Savings Bank 6. Hawaii State Federal Credit Union 7. Hibiscus Korean BBQ 8. J Hara Store(Gun, Ammo, Fishing Store) 9. Fairwood Drive Inn /Hi Yip Restaurant 10. Makoto Sushi & Roll They also have some doctors and dentist offices in the upper floors(sorry, don’t know how many offices are there) Parking can be tight sometimes, as both upper & lower level parking can fill up quickly during prime time hours. There are a few free street parking spaces on 5th Ave.,(by the back side of Sacred Hearts Academy). Overall, a nice small shopping center serving the Kaimuki/Kapahulu neighborhood area.

Forget about coming here during busy hours. Parking is very limited. A lot of the parking stalls are now reserved. If you don’t mind circling around for a stall, you are forewarned. If you have to go to Times or Long’s suggest that you come during non peak hours or go to another location

Not that many shops here, but a good size parking lot.

This is one of the smallest shopping centers on the Island. During the day parking can get crazy, the lower parking area especially.

I’m here every other week to see my chiropractor in one of the offices on the uppermost floor. But the Longs and bottom floor Times normally keep the shopping center’s parking pretty packed. It’s not that large a lot and all the stalls farthest from the stores are reserved(supposedly for employees and/or businesses working in the upper offices). There are other smaller store fronts in the same chopping center — Cookie Corner, American Savings Bank, a Korean food place, a hair salon, and whatever other offices are operating upstairs. The shopping center is old and looks it, but it serves its purpose and gives you what you expect it to.

I’m here at least once a week to go to Times or Longs. The parking lot on second floor tends to be full around 10a-2p because they have some doctors and dentist offices above Longs. The Times parking lot is full with the after work crowd from 530−630p.

Not much of a «shopping center,» but it works. Kaimuki Shopping Center has a prime location right off of Waialae, which makes this a convenient stop. It is home to a couple major stores such as Long’s Drugs and Times Supermarket, making this a «kill two birds with one stone» type of deal. You will also find other businesses like American Savings Bank, The Cookie Corner, and Fairwood Drive Inn & Phở 27. Aside from those places I mentioned, I don’t think I really know what else is there besides some random offices. Nevertheless, Kaimuki Shopping Center has some work to do to live up to its name… I think they need to up the ante a little bit, and welcome several more useful and trendy stores to show people what more Kaimuki has to offer. On the flip side, that just means it’s easier to find a parking space on the double decker lot, so that’s a plus. Anyway, Kaimuki Shopping Center is convenient. It has lots of potential and has already been stepping it up with the newly added restaurant duo, Fairwood Drive Inn & Phở 27.(What a great concept: do a little shopping, eat a little phở.) A ways more to go, but definitely on its way to greatness! Unilocal 365 — #161/365
