Easter Sunday. A thousand hotels from which to select an Easter Brunch, and I choose the one of the more disappointing excuses for a brunch on the island. Ooh, the power of advertising. Being a regular listener of Smooth Jazz 101.1FM, i had heard a great deal over the past two weeks about this place and how wonderful of an Easter brunch they have planned. After an early morning church service, my friend and i set out to partake of some fine Easter dining. I talked this brunch up to him all weekend long. Suffice to say, I was embarrassed. The Food — OK, now, maybe i expect too much, but every Easter brunch i have ever gone to usually has a full service station or two, such as omelettes, waffles, french toast, eggs benny, or something. Nah, none of that here. The only station with an actual person was the ham carving station. Moreover, they had little to no breakfast type foods(eggs, bacon, sausages, etc). That which they did have was overcooked and dried out. They basically had a small selection of local times such as kalua pork, chicken long rice, etc. Taste was ok. Crab legs were lukewarm and very dry. The service — The waiters were good. Kept my friend’s champagne glass full and my coffee topped off. Really nothing much else for them to do at a buffet. The Ambiance — It was ok. Nice lighting with jazz classics playing, which leads me to believe they have some kind of arrangement with the afore mentioned radio station. «Man, this is some bull$#%*», said my friend with a straight face, having said little to nothing in regards to the brunch till that moment. I could not agree with you more, man. Chef Boyardee could have come up with a better menu and better plan for food preparation than these guys. 2 stars, and that’s me being generous.

I spent my St. Patty’s day at J Wine Bar and enjoyed it. The bartenders, Jerid and Liz were great entertainers. The food came up quick and was delicious. The seafood pasta was loaded with shrimp, clams and fish. It was a little on the heavy side with the cream, but a little lemon juice fixed that. A great place to enjoy a late night dinner. The parking was free and everyone, from the valet to the servers were very gracious and helpful

I don’t know if it’s because we went on a Monday night, but the place was dead… It’s kinda creepy when you’re the only couple eating. The food was okay… The service was good, but I don’t like being served by old-not-so-good-looking people. I’d rather be served by happy young good-looking people. …but that’s just me. The only reason I went was because I got this $ 100 certificate for $ 50. If not, I don’t think I would have gone.
