Island Magnets

This store is such a tourist trap, but it’s quite nice to get something that’s a little better than .let’s say Walmart but not as expensive as those craft places. The magnets here are a plenty, I really like the Sugary Ones like the popsicles /​ice cream one magnets here. They look realistic. But what we ended up was buying keychains here. Lots and lots of keychains for some coworkers and some teachers. There was a letter keychain we were looking for and oddly enough, it was the only one out of stock. So we had to settle for a different letter. Even though they have a lot of keychains, a lot of what they show is what they have in stock. They will wrap it up in paper for you so that it can try to remain in same shape as when you bought it.

This store is located at 1450 Ala Moana Boulevard on the first level of the famous Ala Moana Shopping Center near the Centerstage.
They have an immense collection of magnets accessorizing the store’s walls from the floor to ceiling. They seem to carry every type of magnet you could imagine from the adorable miniature fruits and vegetables to the tacky old school Hawaiian souvenir types of magnets. There were the collectible stone critter cats and dogs in the various breeds, happy wooden sunflower and picket fences perfect for your kitchen and silly, tacky beer and wine ones for the alcohol lovers. They also have a large selection of other small Hawaiian souvenirs and knick knacks including picture frames, hula dancers for your car’s dash, bottle openers and drink koozies.
I have been shopping at this store for years. This store is a great go-​to store when I needed just a little something to complete a Hawaiian omiyage gift bag or simple present. I like tying little ornaments, key chains or even magnets to the ribbon to dress up my packages. I have also purchased a few magnets from this store to add to my own collection because they were just too cute. I personally like the one hanging on my dishwasher letting other family members know if the dishes are «clean» or «dirty».
Next time you’re in need of a small gift for a coworker or friend («Secret Santa») and have run out of ideas, come check this place out. There are magnets for all budgets, and you may surprise yourself and not leave the store empty handed!
