I did a blowout, retouch, cut and style and Herve was awesome. He has YEARS of experience and KNOWS what he’s doing. I am very critical of hair stylists and he is definitely a keeper. And yes, he’s super nice and very accomadating like the many of the other Unilocalers mention. If you want high quality products with a stylist who has years of experience that will lead you to what’s best for you, then I suggest Herve… he’s worth the $$.

I got the Brazilian blowout + hair cut + shampoo and conditioner set on Groupon from Herve and he did an absolutely amazing job. Herve ensured that every strand of my hair was treated properly for the Brazilian blowout — when blowouts are done properly it takes a pretty good amount of time, and Herve definitely did it properly with thoroughness and care. He also chopped 13 inches of my hair off and I just love my haircut! He has a friendly demeanor and is quite entertaining to chat with. Even though the entire blowout + haircut took a good 2.5 hours because it was done so well, it felt like I was only in their for an hour because we were having such a great time conversing with one another. I’ll definitely be back when I’m ready for a new haircut and blowout. Thanks, Herve!

I feel a bit bad writing this review, since Herve was a genuinely nice person. However, I feel obliged to give my honest opinion on the service I got here…
I purchased the groupon for the Brazilian Blowout service + color retouch + shampoo and conditioner set (I opted out of the color retouch portion). First off, Herve was working on another client when I got there, and he started working on me (while also working on the other client) 20 minutes after my appointment time. I’d gotten Brazilian Blowouts before, so I knew the steps involved. You’re supposed to rinse it out TWICE, and flat iron/​heat style it straight TWICE. Previously upon getting this treatment, it would take upwards of 2.5−3 hours. I’m even reading the other review from Madison H., and her treatment was 3 hours. I do realize that my hair is about 2 – 3 inches shorter than it was when I used to get it done. Even with that in mind, I was in and out in less than an hour. Literally. He started on me (late) at 10:20 AM, I was out by 11:15 AM. I was shocked at how fast it was, mainly because he skipped the second rinse and style. When I asked him, «Aren’t you gonna rinse me out again and re-​style?» He said, «No, it’s not necessary.» Hmmmm. I was satisfied with how straight my hair was when I left, so I didn’t want to argue with him about the steps. I honestly felt he rushed me out without doing all of the steps, because he was working on a difficult color correction on the other client he had and hadn’t taken into account that it would be difficult to work on us both. Why on earth he scheduled a color correction on someone else at the same time as a Brazilian Blowout on me is frustrating to me. I felt like because I was the groupon girl, I got shoved out the door.
Another thing that I noticed was that he wore the fancy gas mask (the super legit ones, like from Breaking Bad – no joke, but in pink) to protect himself from the fumes. Yet to the customer, he offered the flimsy mask that you can buy at Longs (which by the way, doesn’t protect you from fumes). If you’re going to wear the fancy gas mask, shouldn’t you offer the same protection for your clients?
Sigh. I ended up getting a credit from Groupon. The «straightness» rinsed out after a week. Literally, a week. It’s a smoothing treatment that’s supposed to last 2 – 3 months. When I’ve gotten it done before (when it took 3 hours like it’s supposed to), it lasted the full 2 – 3 months. My hair is now completely back to normal after only a week. Very disappointing results, especially since I knew what to expect from previous treatments at other salons. =\

Herve is great! He is so kind and funny. I got a Brazilian blowout from him with a groupon back last summer (2014) but then I went on a dying/​bleaching spree and although I love the color of my blondie hair the damage was just too much. So I trusted Herve again to give me a Brazilian blowout to get back some of the health of my hair!
My hair looks a lot healthier (although you can’t really go back to virgin hair if you color it). But Brazilian blowouts are the best way to keep my bleached hair from crumbling as we speak and I have trusted Herve to do it both times!

It has been a week since I went to Herve and my hair is just as amazing as it was the day I got it done! I got a great deal for a Brazilian blowout + hair cut + shampoo and conditioner set on Groupon. I was quite skeptical because I have gotten a «keratin treatment» s few years go at another salon that lasted about 3 days. But Herve is the real deal! He is very professional and informative, he talks you through his process and answers all and any questions you may have (I even had a mini freak out moment a few days after my appt I messaged him and he responded promptly!!). The appt was approximately 3 hours but the time flies by bc he is so fun and such a joy to talk to! I highly recommend Herve and will be returning to him for all my hair needs :)

Great friendly service, and most importantly results! I got a BB a few weeks ago that didn’t work, and rushed in to have Herve fix it. 3 weeks later it still looks awesome. He is a fun person to talk to and very caring of his clients. He have me movie and music suggestions and even ran out on a hot day to return a water bottle to a forgetful customer (he did it twice during my visit!). Great man, great service, great results :) would recommend without a doubt

Rushed in a couple minutes late when Herve greeted me by name :) This was my first experience at a salon after battling my thick, frizzy, and long black hair which was down to my hips. I was literally afraid to wake up each morning because of my wild, heavy, and depressing bush. Enough was enough, and I spotted his discount ad for a Brazilian blowout on Living Social. Herve didn’t run the other way, but took his time to give me the look I’ve been searching for. His warm personality eased my anxiety. I wanted a change in hair (aka life), and I got it. I originally thought this treatment would leave my hair silky straight even after washing but it doesn’t. Learned that on YouTube lol. I was disappointed at first but learned that it basically gets rid of the dry frizz, temporarily. My hair is still thick but very soft and with much more moisture. I still need to use a flat iron to get it silky straight (duh) but with much more ease than before. Thank you Herve!

I was visiting from Canada and was really excited about the straightening treatments that were offered in Hawaii. Of course being super nervous about my long hair and the health of it I couldn’t trust anyone. I didn’t even know if I could take the plunge.
Then the more reviews I read on all the different sites kept leading me to Herve’.
I research the heck out of things too so you can imagine how much I did when it came to my hair. I decided on a Brazilian Blowout but I needed to meet Herve’ first and let me him see my hair. I emailed him and after a couple emails back and forth he graciously offered to meet me in town if I didn’t have a car. His salon is only a 20 minute walk from town or 5 minute drive so
I opted to go there. My husband came up
with me. Herve’ really studied my hair and suggested that the blowout would be
best for it over the Japanese Straightening. I was impressed because the one he suggested to me was the inexpensive one out of the two. After we left the consultation my husband even said «that is a nice guy!». Two days later I went for my blowout.
Herve’ squeezed me into his schedule since I was a tourist. He walked me through each step that he did and when he was done my hair was nice and shiny and straight.
It looked like a regular blowout. But I was nervous what’s going to happen after I wash it will it still be as good? Well. 3 days later I got home to Canada and washed it. OMG!!! It’s exactly the same if not better. My bangs are perfect. I’m addicted to this.
I emailed Herve’ and let him know he had asked me too when I got back he said he really wanted to know. He is helping me to find the products where I live! I couldn’t believe it. I would trust him 100% for a haircut as well. I saw his work on different pictures that I researched and it was amazing.
If you are a tourist and not sure where to go he is the man you want to see! I can’t say enough good things really.

the process from booking to day of was an ease.
i was hoping to do my hair on a sunday, unfortunately sundays are herve’s family day but was willing to accomodate. instead i opted for a saturday. i had so many questions that herve was patient and very professional.
first was the partial highlights to match previously colored hair that has grown out. then came the blowout. very simple process that what i imagined whole appointment took about 3 hours. during down times herve offered to get me coffee.
highly recommend herve. very laid back and easy going nature.

During our Christmas vacation at Honolulu, Hawaii, last year, My daughter and I were longing for a hair trim on the Christmas Day! So I called Herve. I couldn’t believe how lucky we were, he actually opened the door just for us! My and Daughter and I couldn’t be more happier with his work and we loved it!

I purchased the LivingSocial Brazillian Blowout/​Japanese Hair Straightening deal. Unfortunately, my phone calls were never returned for the first month and when I continued to call, the recording which did not even contain the name of the businness reported that the voicemail was full and not accepting any more messages. I wondered if the salon had gone out of business. I contacted LivingSocial regarding my concerns about not being contacted for over a month and thankfully they refunded my money. Literally a month and a half later, I received a voicemail message from Herve saying he had spoken to me once and lost my number in the mean time, which is amazing because I had never heard back from them ever. I absolutely would not recommend them.
Update: The guy responds on here, saying «If you are a real customer.» Classy. Well I dont know you personally, so I was attempting to be a «real customer,» prior to finding out you were unreachable and completely disorganized. I wouldn’t trust somebody who can’t manage their business to manage my hair.

A friend recommended Herve and I went in thinking I wanted the Japanese Thermal Straightening but Herve asked some good questions and realized I really wanted smooth, not straight. He offered an alternative treatment that would help my hair recover from damage past processing at another salon. All I can say is I am in love with my hair! Herve is fantastic. Warm, friendly and fun and genuinely concerned about the health of your hair. I love the color, the cut and the easy my hair feels and looks. I went in with frizzy, two-​tone hair and came out with shiny, soft hair that looks amazing. People passing behind me in the office didn’t recognize it was me! Thank you Herve! Worth every penny and more!

I went in for the Brazilian Blowout with my Living Social deal. Herve’ recommended a different treatment until my hair was a little healthier. He gave me the option to use my voucher, or save it for later. I really appreciated his honesty and professional manner. I was very satisfied with my visit. The treatment smoothed some frizziness which was caused by damage from a previous treatment at another salon. He highly recommend Herve’ if you’re thinking of a new style or trying to correct damage from other treatments. The services are pricey, but well worth it.

Got the Japanese Thermal Hair Straightening Treatment from Herve today and he was amazing! My hair has never looked this good! Its so silky smooth and straight! I love it! He even trimmed my hair perfectly! The atmosphere in the salon was just wonderful! You could tell that not only does Herve take good care of his clients, so does everyone else in the salon. By far the best salon I’ve ever been to! Thanks Herve!

I saw a friend today that had a haircut and color from Herve’ yesterday and I gotta put this out for everyone. She told him she wanted a color close to her natural color that would grow and not so noticeable with the little gray she has well… he colored it a dark mahogany. Definitely not a good blend with gray. She wears her hair short so when he was done buzzing the back of her head he came around the front and uses the buzzer to «trim» her bangs as he said. Low and behold when she goes home to check out her new «do» she sees that he buzzed part of her eye brow off!!! Now she has the «surprised» look on her face without even trying. When she called him this morning Herve’ tells her «Oh OK why don’t you come back I’ll buzz the other side»!!! SERIOUSLY! OK ladies and gentlemen you make your own decision. Granted she found him because he and a half off coupon on Living Social but this kind of service should be found in cosmetology school not at a high end salon like Billy Fong’s. He must have really needed to build his clientele to go to Living Social to get customers in his chair.
