Amazing breakfast at a very low cost plus a decent portion for big hungry people like myself, great coffee as well.

LOCATION: right across the gas company. on the corner of lucy labs and across of public storage SETTING: the outside of this place looks like its just a random café BUT as soon as you enter, WOW! such a cute café. the tables are right there and it literally looks like a café :) the table covers looks like picnic blankets(red & white) and the front bar area is right in the middle of the whole café. they also have a little opening for us to see the cooks in the back. the owners name is christy. you’ll see her as soon as you walk in. the most sweetest lady ever! X2! because her mom is there too serving and helping her. they’re both so sweet. to get to know them a little better, christy put up pictures of her family and some old pictures of the café before. something to look at while you wait for your food :) the menu is right on the wall, big for you to see too! SERVICE: i lovvvvvve the service here! right when my bf & I walked in, we got a very nice«hello welcome» with the cutest smiles from christy. immediately i thought, yay this is going to be my favorite place! haha. she told us we could sit anywhere. christys sweet mom always refills our waters and makes little conversations :) love how they try and interact with their customers. i saw sooo many construction workers come in and christy knew them. mustve been regulars. she def brings the people back :) FOOD: So i ordered the christy omelet. it was mushrooms, tomato, green onions, egg and ham. omg literally the BEST omelet i have ever eaten! i know right?! it was the best mixture to put in an omelet! i ate that within a sec! haha my bf got the homemade hashed browns and eggs with fried rice. again, he loved it! the homemade hashed browns is a MUST! better than most places we’ve tasted. can i know their secret?! haha we also got a side blueberry/banana pancake. that def wasnt a regret! so fluffy and good!!! ordered the grilled ahi. loved it! esp when i squeeze the lemon on it. perfect for my diet meal lol PRICES: the prices here are very affordable. our total came out to $ 23. for 2 plates and a side pancake. WOW! soooo worth it! I cant wait to go back and try the rest of her menu :)

Really good breakfast. The people were really nice. The food was fresh and flavorful. Parking was a bit hectic, but we finally found a spot. Would come back again. Prices are on the lower end compared to other places.

If you want a good breakfast m, you MUST eat here! Best breakfast that I’ve had in the island. Had to wait a little for service as they only had one server at the time. But once the other server came out they started moving right along. The food came out pretty fast after we ordered as well. My wife got the Mahi Mahi and I got the Home made Corn beef hash with eggs, rice and gravy. Basically a corned beef hash loco moco on the plate. Not saying anything bad about the Mahi Mahi, but my wife kept picking off my home made corn beef hash!

Seen this café for years on the corner but never ventured inside due to its uninviting exterior… Rundown outside, some endearing qualities inside. Has a family diner feel – counter with stools & overall décor on-point. Comfortable atmosphere. Not bustling – eat at your own pace on a lazy Sunday… Friendly, soft-spoken elderly lady manning the counter & dining area. Harry’s Café lost points from me on their food. Their loco moco fried rice is mediocre. Their fried rice is exactly that. Just rice fried on a skillet? Not much added into it unless they were minced to microscopic proportions. I like to see chopped size ingredients in my fried rice. Sorry, that’s just me. YMMV. Took a nap after breakfast – I was super tired with a dry mouth – MSG? *shrug* idk… I have standards for fried rice so sowwie but won’t be returning anytime soon!

This is a solid four star breakfast place. Now this is totally different from Heavenly, Goofy’s Café and eggs’ n things. I recommend this place if your a local but not as a tourist. Come here for a good breakfast, with large portions, a short wait, and reasonable prices. I definitely have to recommend their omelettes whether it’s the Kim Chee fried rice or the chili you can’t go wrong. The décor and ambience is that old school diner type of feel, nothing fancy but comfortable. This place has their regular customers who sit at the counter. This would be my go to spot if you can get here before 8am M-F as the prices for a few of there meals are extremely cheap. Some side notes for you: it’s cash only but they do have an ATM which has no bank association. They do have a bathroom it’s in the back so you need to ask. You can park on the side of the café for free as long as there are no other cars there.

Love little hole in the walls like this. I came on a Sunday morning to grab a quick bite before heading to Ala Moana beach. The service was very friendly and they had a great selection on their menu. I got the hamburger omelette and it was delicious, with homemade hamburger. Reasonable prices and food came out very quick. Definitely recommend this place for a good local breakfast.

I have passed by this place a gazillion times, and have never stopped in until today. So, they no longer have the .99 breakfast special that they apparently once did, but they still have a relatively large breakfast menu. The menu is posted on a big board on the wall inside, and it isn’t limited to just breakfast. From the outside, it looks small and old, but on the inside, it’s alot roomier than I expected. You won’t see any fancy tables or décor, but the atmosphere is comfortable and homey. Not sure if the lady who served us is the owner(I suspect she is), but she was super nice, and the food came out hot and fast. Not too sure if they have any private parking, but there are metered stalls along the street. Would I come back? Yeah, I would.

Not only is the food all homemade and delicious, but it is a really fun place to go because there are signs up covering the walls that tell you everything they have along with the price. Oh boy if the walls could tell the history of the place!

I love Harry’s! ATMOSPHERE: Has that… complete mom & pop shop, been there forever, diner-esque, ghetto but it doesn’t really bug you type of atmosphere. SERVICE: Is awesome, but sometimes slow! For as many times as I’ve been there, I should probably know that sweet lady’s name by now. She’s really the only server. She’s so kind-hearted and gentle, I think she’s a big factor into what makes this place so enjoyable. Obviously, since she’s the only server, it makes sense why the service gets to be so slow at times, but still. And not to worry, when it does get really busy, she has help! FOOD: So ‘ono! Now, I’m not one to stray from what I typically get, so I can’t really speak to what most of their other food tastes like, but their beef stew is so killahs! Definitely, one of my favorite beef stew places on the island(YES, I eat stew in the mornings). My boyfriend gets all kinds of other food from there, like corn beef hash, loco moco, all that good stuff… And he’s enjoyed everything he’s ordered. OVERALL: Like I said, I love Harry’s! It’s a good morning/brekkie spot on the weekends AND it’s cheap too.

Saw some great reviews on Unilocal for this place, so me and my friend decided to try it out. When you walk in, it’s seat your self tables. We were served pretty quickly. We ordered the 2−2−2, which comes with 2 Portuguese sausages, 2 bacon, 2 link sausage, eggs and rice for and the pancakes combo which came with banana pancakes, 2 slices of bacon, and eggs. FOOD: The portions that we got were a little smaller than expected. Especially for 2−2−2, which I don’t think paying $ 9.50 was worth it. Honestly, the breakfast we ordered was a normal breakfast, nothing out of the ordinary. I could have made he same thing we ordered easily at home. On the contrary, I did read the reviews on Unilocal which said their homemade corn beef hash was delicious. I even saw a plate come out when we were eating and it looked bomb. Next time, even if I’m not feeling like eating corn beef hash, I’m going to try it. There was a special menu for weekdays, which seemed like a really good deal(posted a picture of the weekday specials). I’d like to come again to try this extremely affordable menu. OVERALL: I really need to come back to try that homemade corn beef hash that everyone was raving about. However, in my honest opinion, if you’re looking for just a pancake or rice, meat and eggs type of breakfast, I would suggest going to Koa Pancake house or something.

I don’t feel all that great giving this place such a low rating, but I also couldn’t justify a 4. May have to keep trying to add a star. In the meantime, here we go: Parking — yuck. Very limited street parking. What I did is park in the corner of the Office Depot lot and walk a block down to Harry’s. Atmosphere — diner-ish family business, hole-in-the-wall type place, close to Lucy’s Lab by Ward Theatres. Prices — I wouldn’t normally grumble about $ 10 plates for breakfast/brunch, but the serving size wasn’t all that impressive. I got the Pancake Combo which comes with 2 pancakes, 2 pieces of bacon(or ham), and 2 eggs. The pancakes are a good size, but I wouldn’t come when they’re busy/rushing. My delicious banana pancakes came sprinkled with some eggshells. Yikes. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt though, and say they were really just rushing with one server and a full house. Weekends for brunch(9−10ish) are busy. Weekdays during lunch are not. They do have a great deal for early bird breakfast plates during the week though. Overall, pretty good service. Not too much in a rush to come back though.

My high school kids love chicken katsu and i have eaten so many at so many places with disappointment. I was discouraging my son from ordering it. When my youngest son insisted on ordering it, I had no intention of trying it out. All the food came at good speed and orderly fashion considering there were 9 of us with different taste buds. My youngest son put one piece of his chicken katsu on my plate and asked me to try it. Instantly I knew it must be good and it really was delicious! Crispy outside flavorful and moist inside. I haven’t had this tasty chicken katsu for a long time. It is a must try menu here.

Wow! My first taste of lunch here was delicious! Had the homemade chicken pot pie that was baked to perfection with a flakey crust that reminded me of my grandmothers cooking! The side salad was your basic greens but fresh and crisp. They included a sliver of pumpkin pie that was good. The Chicken Pot Pie was the star by far!

I had really high expectations for this place. I was led to believe that the food was cheap and super delicious. It was alright I guess. I’m going to have to give this place a 2. Simply because I’ll never come back again. And no, it’s not because there was a mama-san. I came on a. Saturday so we parked on the street. The two parking spots I think are for take out only. I can’t imagine what’s it’s like on a work day. Before you walk into the door you are greeted by two signs. One is Home of the 99 cent breakfast from 16 years ago and Cash Only No Credit Cards. Don’t be bummed. There is no such thing. The menu has a bunch of $ 5 ish items but most of it is on the expensive side. Prices were definitely not worth the product. Jaz ordered a tuna melt but the hostess told us that the ran out of tuna and mahi. Sad considering they have several items with tuna. So she settled for a bacon and cheese sandwich. I ordered the club house. I asked for pickles to which the hostess rudely replied I no have pickles. She rudely walked away. Uh. Burgers and no pickles? Dar’s pancakes were pretty good. Very tasty and banana like. The killer thing for me was nearly all the patrons were sneezing or coughing. Gross.

Harry’s Café is a LITTLE hole in the wall breakfast and brunch joint. So, LITTLE that it was a LITTLE difficult to find. I called the restaurant for directions. A nice oriental lady with an accent answered the phone. She had a very sweet and pleasant voice. I asked if they were open, and then I asked for directions. When I asked for directions, she told me to hold on. A local man answered and started to give me directions. Boy, his directions were confusing and complex. Agh! So, I kindly responded by thanking the man for the directions. Instead of following his, I decided to follow the navigation system on my phone. My phone directions were a little off, but finally it was able to lead me to Harry’s. Omg… what a whirlwind of confusion. Although it took me sometime to find this place, it was WORTHIT! «Baby, it was worth it. Uh, huh it was worth it.» Baby, it was worth it. «You catch my drift? Anyway, when we arrived, I noticed there were only two parking stalls in front of the restaurant. Of course, both stalls were taken. Luckily, it was on a Saturday. There were some street parking available. When my mom and I walked in, were were greeted by a nice Korean lady with a friendly smile. We sat down and looked at the menu in front of us and the menu that was posted on the wall. I quickly looked on Unilocal to see what others eat from here. I noticed the homemade corned beef hash was a MUSTTRY. So, my mom and I ordered the corned beef hash plate that came with rice and two eggs. As we graciously waited a friendly local man that was eating at the breakfast bar approached me. He said,» Are you the one that called on the phone for directions?” I said, «Yes, was that you that gave me directions?» Then, we both started to laugh. He told me that he lived there… he must be a regular.” I noticed there were other regulars that frequent Harry’s. These regulars were eating and socializing at the breakfast bar. The nice lady was talking with them, too. Finally, the moment had arrived. Our breakfast was presented to us. Two scoops of rice, two over hard eggs with a homemade corned beef hash… the size of a hamburger patty. The corned beef hash was perfectly seasoned… not to salty. There was a nice amount of potato chunks dispersed throughout the patty, and the texture was tender. The patty was perfectly cooked… crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It was delicious! It tasted like my mom and dad’s corn beef hash. I loved it! I will definitely be back. Next time, I would love to try the kim chee fried rice along with the corn beef hash. Take CASH… they do not accept other type of payment.

This is one of our favorite breakfast food places in Honolulu. If you’re looking for good service and comfort foods, this is the place to go. You won’t find fancy pancakes or prime rib here. It’s not that type of place. It’s more like home cooked meals in your mom’s kitchen. The kimchi is amazing here! The corned beef hash loco moco is delicious and doesn’t taste like it comes from a can like some of the other places we’ve been to. They often have different specialities like kimchi sausage and roast pork loco moco with fried chicken.(I’m drooling as I’m writing this review!) There’s a sign about it having a $.99 breakfast but they haven’t had those available in a very long time and there’s even a sign on the door before you walk in that says that. Their parking lot is small but there is metered parking. I know some people were complaining about parking and the $.99 breakfast but I personally love the place and don’t mind paying more than $.99 for my meal. Considering everything else that’s around this is one of the cheaper restaurants. I always leave feeling full and feeling like I got the most bang out of my buck. I’ve been to others places where I’ve paid twice as much and I still leave hungry or unsatisfied. Bottom line, you can’t go wrong with any dish here and the service here makes the food even better! We’re always pleasantly greeted by the ajima there. She is the sweetest lady ever and even offers to watch our daughter while we eat! This is definitely more of a locals spot than a tourist attraction. If you’re looking for high end dishes with orchids garnished on your plate then go to one of the Waikiki hotels, you can score a $ 60 breakfast with no problems.

I have a SERIOUS soft spot for hole in wall places to eat. My theory is, you can go two ways when it’s hole in the wall: bad or really good. In this case, my review is of the latter. Walked in on a Sunday, it was busy, and parking was crap, not to mention: CASHONLYCASHONLYCASHOOOONNNLLLYYYYYY thankfully there’s also an ATM located conveniently inside. But I was reluctant to leave because I NEEDED their cornbeef hash loco moco. And I’m glad I stayed. Serving size is generous, food is piping hot, cornbeef wasn’t too salty and was awesome and tender and steamy. I mean come on. If you don’t like cornbeef with gravy and egg oozing all over a pile of rice then I don’t know what kind of human you are. Keep in mind this is a family run business and they’re catering to a full house, so service can take a little bit longer on the busy days. But if you’re looking for a low key spot with good food then this is definitely it.

«Ohhhh .99c breakfast?», as I rubberneck down the street while passing by Harry’s Café with a foolish look on my face. I must have said this in my thoughts more than a dozen times since I drive through this corner beige building of Waimanu St. and Kamakee St quite often. Eventually I thought it was brilliant that they have that sign to reel people in. Yes, I am officially a fool. a smart kind of fool. Why? Because I don’t know if I will be walking out with food poisoning as my end result. Indeed, I pulled the trigger and said, «I have health insurance». First things first, there are hardly street(meter) parking, but maybe available. Put your reading abilities to good use because parking could be free depending if you’re coming on a Sunday. Or you can walk a couple blocks from Ward Center after doing your business there. Come with enough cash as they don’t take any form of plastic for payment. The decors are simple which gives a good definition of a hole in the wall. A companion and I walked into this place with an open mind and a «We’re all in» kind of attitude. Since we came during a Sunday we didn’t get to try their breakfast special. A nice big Breakfast Special sign is present at the cashiers area. This is offered Monday-Friday from 5am-8am. The prices varied from $ 4.95-$ 5.35 at the time(7÷11÷15) and could possibly change. Sorry, there is no actual .99C meals or items here. They have an open variety of options in their menu, from pancakes to basic sides, omelets, sandwiches, burgers, drinks, salads and local grinds. We were hungry enough and decided on a Fried Rice Loco Moco for $ 10.50. It’s pretty straight forward. Fried rice with a burger patty, sunny side up egg with gravy. Each individual part played an important role. With those put together, the taste was out of this world! I am normally not a big fan of mac salads but I couldn’t get enough of theirs. Just try it! The portion was ample and was enough for my companion and I. I’ve always said sharing is caring because the more main dishes you order with a group, the more you get to try. The end result(two days later), I am typing this review free from any form of food poisoning. As I always say whenever I give a good review, «I’ll be back».

Sometimes hole in the wall places are simply the best and better options to dine in so never judge a place by it’s outside, you’ll never know what kind of food gem you’ll find. I’ve always passed by this place, home of the«$.99 cents breakfast» but never bothered to try it out since it was more of a I wanna try that place one day but never did make the effort to try even though I’m in the area quite often. One Saturday morning, we were in the ward area for a quick stop and wanted to eat breakfast in the area nearby. So we Unilocaled the nearest breakfast place and found this place and as we google mapped it, didn’t realize it was this place that I’ve always wanted to try just by the banner alone that I remembered for cheap breakfast. Although they don’t have that sign anymore as it only applies to early mornings on weekdays. It wasn’t busy as we arrived there around 10am but the tables were slowly filling up so you know this is gonna be a good spot for breakfast. The menu is written on the chalkboards and there were so many choices that I was looking at the menu for a while. The waitress offered us waters while we decided and gave us recommendations and showed us other peoples orders as she passed by serving the other tables. Such friendly service from beginning to end. It felt like I was an someone’s house just requesting what I felt like eating that morning. Made me feel like home. I finally just went with kim chee fried rice omellete with ham and my boyfriend got the hungry which was eggs, rice, portuguese sausage, bacon and side lup chong. It was simple breakfast dish menus but it was prepared perfectly to satisfy the taste buds. It was portion generously as I wasn’t able to finish my breakfast so I took it to go. Prices are decently cheap here and probably the cheapest dine in breakfast place I’ve been to in a while. I’d definitely come back to the the other signature dishes they have here. There’s lots of variety to choose from as they offer lunch plates as well. Parking is only meter parking which there are lots of on the street next to it. The only con was that it was CASHONLY so make sure you have cash on you when you go. Most hole in the wall places run like that so its pretty common for a low key business restaurant to strictly stick to cash payments.

I have driven past Harry’s Café many times in my years of living here, but never really gave it much thought to actually stop and try it. Parking can be a little tricky and there isn’t always street parking available but you WILL be attracted by the big sign that says 99cent breakfast!(In 2015, WHAT?) We came here on a Saturday around lunch time and found ourselves a nice parking spot not too far and walked into Harry’s Café(which now belongs to a lady named Christy by the way.) We were greeted warmly and were attended to better than I’ve had at some fancy restaurants. Their menus are on the walls and the board above the bar so don’t forget to bring your glasses if you have trouble seeing far away. I ordered the fried rice omelet for $ 8.50 and it was exactly what you’d expect. Delicious local style fried rice wrapped in a perfectly thin layer of egg and slices of ham on top mmm. As a first timer, their menu wasn’t too confusing and had the perfect amount of diversity that could satisfy any of my cravings from sweet banana pancakes to savory kimchi fried rice. The lady behind the counter was also very friendly and came to check on us a few times to make sure we were still doing okay. She saw me fanning myself with the napkin after drenching my omelet in tabasco and came over to offer more napkins and roll up the window shade. While it didn’t do much, I really appreciated her attentiveness to her customers :) After our meal, she tallied up our totals and had no problem with splitting our bill, which you’d be surprised how many cashiers do have a problem with these days! Overall, an excellent first experience and I’ll definitely be back to try their famous 99cent breakfast that’s only available on the weekdays!

This one is for you, Uncle Kenny! Whoa, hands down, BEST«greasy spoon» steak and eggs in town so far! This steak was was a 1″ thick NY sirloin, seasoned to perfection, to bring out the taste of the meat, not mask it. It was juicy, seared on the exterior and medium rare on the interior, just how I ordered it! Amazing! The eggs were over easy, white, glistening, no burn marks, and perfect. I opted for hash browns instead of rice, and asked them to make them extra crispy. The experience of an extra crispy hash brown is a must! If you ever got lucky with a soft and crunchy McDonald’s french fry, there you have it! ;-) To top it off, I ordered a cup of coffee, and it was really good! You guys have to try this place!
