I didn’t even dine in. I did a take out order and the service was awful. ATM: Usually, you’re greeted when you walk into Genki Sushi. No one said anything to anyone walking into the restaurant. We walked to the cashier’s table(to order our take out) and as soon as we got to the cashier, the two employees in the back of the cashier’s table walked away, leaving us waiting for someone to take our order. The cashier was an older gentleman that was totally rude off the bat. Biting my tongue, we sit down to wait for our take out. As we are sitting down, we notice the host tending to some of the incoming consumers. Instead of holding the door for them, and greeting them properly, she just stands there, instructing people to go to their tables(rather than politely escorting them to their table). Only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 is due to the fact that the food was decent. However, I will probably never go there EVER again.

We will never go back to this location ever! Worst Genki Sushi I’ve ever been to! It started off good we were greeted when we walked in to put our name on the list and then were lucky enough to only have to wait 10 mins for our booth to open which was nice. We get seated and wait about 10 mins for our server Tiffany to come and welcome us which doesnt happen! She asks us what we would like to drink we order our drinks and while I’m in the middle of asking her for a side dish for my wasabi she walks AWAY! So I wait and she comes back about 5 mins later with our drinks I ask her for the side dish and chopsticks because there is NONE on the table. 10 mins later our waters, chopsticks, and side dishes come. Tiffany takes our order and goes off and isn’t seen again for the next 20 mins nor was any other servers and they had 6 servers on the floor. Tiffany comes back with 2 of our orders and then goes off again for another 15 mins she returns to ask how we are doing I ask her about our first order and she says«it will be right out» and I place another order. 15 mins later a couple things from our 2nd order arrives mind you we still have not received our hot items from our 1st order which included french fries, spring rolls, baked muscles, and chicken and it has been 50 mins already! And if I haven’t mentioned I have 3 hungry fussy tired kids ages 4 – 9 waiting for their food to come! 15 mins later Tiffany comes back with the rest of our order by this time we aren’t even hungry anymore being that it has been 65 mins since we placed our 1st order. Our kids stasified their hunger with soy beans and salad which was about the only thing on the belt besides soda and cupcakes and food that’s suppose to be hot was ICECOLD. So I placed all the items that Tiffany just brought out to us back on the belt which was 2 plates of chicken we decided to take home the French fries, spring rolls, and baked mussels. I would’ve gave the 2 plates of chicken back to her if she’s hadn’t dropped the food off and ran! And remember there’s no other server around?! 15 mins later Tiffany comes back and asks how we are doing we’re over it our kids are futless we just want to get out of here! So we ask for our check and a to go box Tiffany brings her pad out and starts counting 5 mins later she says she’ll be back with our check a few seconds later another server comes to our table and starts counting our plates I tell her that Tiffany just counted the plates and was getting our check the server tells us that Tiffany was busy and asked her to come and count our plates so I inform the waitress that Tiffany stood here for 5 mins counting our plates already! I don’t understand why she’s recounting them or what the problem is the waitress then smiles at us and walks away. Tiffany comes back with our check and asks us if there was a problem with our chicken because she brought us 2 plates of chicken and they aren’t on the table anymore with an accusing voice and rude stare down! We kindly let her know that the order took so long that we ended up placing it back on the belt and that we would have given the plates back to her but once again she was no where to be found nor was any other server around for us to inform. I mean we could’ve let 2 brand new plates of chicken wasted but why when someone else could enjoy it as we didn’t even touch it! Tiffany than proceeds to question us as if we were being interagated! I’ve NEVER been so humiliated in front of other customers before! I’m way too classy and respectful to EVER hide, steal, or take something and let alone teach that to my kids! Tiffany rolls her eyes drops our check at the end of our table being that we(myself and bf) are siting on the inside we reach over and grab the check I continue to sit as my kids and bf get up to pay as I’m still waiting for a take our container. It’s already been 10 mins since we asked for our check and to go box and we still don’t have anything to pack our food up in. I proceed to the cashier to pay I inform the supervisor Krisite of our service from start to finish and get a continuous reply of «I’m sorry» «I’m sorry» «I’m sorry» I’m glad that she was sorry but I would’ve appreciated to feel that my concerns and bad service was going to be taken into consideration for PROCESSIMPROVEMENT for future customers. I felt that Kristie didn’t know how to address my concern or handle the problem at hand she handed me my receipt to sign and said«sorry and that genki strives for #1 customer service». Krisitie hands me my copy of my receipt and that’s that she had nothing further to say and I felt like I wasted my time to giving feedback for improvement and it wasn’t taken seriously! HORRIBLESERVICE! I’ll continue to go to Genki Kaneohe which has AWESOME customer service from checking in to checking out and a much better family atmosphere and upgraded restaurant.

2 stars because in all honestly, i’ll eat there again… but better to stick to the ala moana one. last time i came to this ward one, there was a roach crawling around the table. now i get it, every place has roaches. it can’t be helped. but not every place has them bold enough to crawl on the table. i took video and posted to instagram… no one seemed to notice. no one even cared when i mentioned to the girl clearing the table that, «oh that napkin has a roach under it…» this most recent time we sat in the same booth. i noticed there were a lot of crumbs between the cushion and the back rest, which may explain the roaches… after sitting, i noticed a very foul odor. i decided it was coming from the sink on the other side of the counter next to where i was sitting… it was a disgusting, rotting food type of smell. kind of makes me wonder how clean everything there really is… another strike was when one of the first items we ordered came AFTER we had already eaten everything else we ordered, ordered again, ordered again, ate some stuff off the belt, finished eating, and got our check. we had completely forgotten about it. right when we were getting up to pay it came. no thank you.

We had one of the worst experiences at this Genki location today. The experience was horrible. It took forever for our waitress to bring the chicken and sushi that we ordered off the menu. She paid very little attention to us and was nowhere to be found when we needed something. We needed a water refill, and I got so frustrated that I got up and got the water pitcher myself and filled up our own cups. Will definitely not be coming back to this location.

I give three stars because the food was good. Minus 2 stars because of the service. I entered the restaurant with about 3 tables occupied. We got seated immediately. There were 5 servers working. A server tended to us right away, but I wasn’t ready to order. Throughout our dinner I had to ask for refills. Then when we were just about done all the servers were busy doing something. None of them cared to look around to check on their customers. There was one that looked around when I tried to catch her attention she seemed to not have seen me. She then went to this other table to give them their check. Once she was wiping the table I tried again. I ended up having to raise my hand. NOONE seen. I was about to go up to the cashier but I finally got someone’s attention. You’ll never guess what she did next. On the way towards me someone else caught her attention and she tended to him instead! Unbelievable! I exclaimed. Then when that other girl was done cleaning the table I raised my hand to get her attention and shouted«excuse me!» Then she came over to our table to count the plates. I was so upset by how long it took just to get someone’s attention. They weren’t even busy! Just imagine how service would be if they were slammed. I don’t really eat at this Genki but sure enough I will not be going back there.

On a budget but looking for GREATSUSHI? Then definitely come here, the food was Soooo good and better yet i actually got stuffed and my pockets weren’t emptied! The only thing I didn’t like is that once in a while one or two items on the sushi conveyer belt wouldn’t look so fresh, but when it is fresh it is AMAZING.(So basically, always order)

I’ve been to Waikele and Ala Moana Genki and enjoyed it(mostly because the new belt system they have going on). However, I have been to Genkis without the new system and still enjoyed the experience. I didn’t enjoy my experience here at all… Got seated and had water. Shortly after receiving our water, my sister and I placed our order. She ordered a Teri chicken bowl, and I ordered udon, kabocha tempura, and croquette. My sister’s chicken bowl came out in 10 minutes. However, NONE of my dishes came… While I waited, I watched the belt to see if there was anything I wanted, but it all looked kind of old… I understand that if its not busy, the business won’t want to add too many new dishes in case it just goes to waste. Hence, since most of the food on the belt was looking old and I didn’t see any sushi I wanted, that’s why I ordered my hot dishes. Another 15 minutes go by and my food is nowhere near coming out(a total of 25 minutes elapsed since I initially ordered). I was already getting annoyed(especially since I had a baby with me) and most of the workers were congregated up front by the register. They were talking and laughing, and paid little attention to the tables…(I work in customer service and I get it. When it’s slow, workers want to entertain themselves, but be somewhat attentive. I cancelled my orders and left. That wasted nearly half hour of my time here…

I come here because my youngest always wants to come here. There is something about grabbing your food from a conveyer belt that is always so cool. We came here for lunch per the munchkin’s request. We got here shortly after they opened, so we were seated immediately. I asked for a booth, and that was no problem. Our server came by to take our drink order. This place is serve yourself, for the most part. So when our server kept coming to check on our drinks, ask if we needed to order anything, and just check on us, we noticed. She was so attentive that we really appreciated her service. The food quality was good, and the prices are affordable. The variety of the food is pretty decent. You can order sushi, ice cream, and french fries here. Something for everyone!

As usual, Genki Sushi never disappoints. Great sushi selection at a fair price. The service at this location was particularly fast and efficient. Regulars should just go in with an idea of what to order because they come around and ask twice after seating you. After that, you’ll have to flag them down or keep picking plates from the conveyor belt. Everyone eats the ahi but I’ll vouch for the saba nigiri here. Simply delicious.

I used to come to Genki’s pretty often back in middle school and a bit of high school but ever since they raised the prices, I would be pretty reluctant to come here xP I came here with my boyfriend and his friends because his friend was craving sushi and he’s kinda rich so the prices didn’t matter much to him LOL I was somewhat grateful I ate a bit before so I wouldn’t spend so much here. I always have to analyze the menu over and over to make sure I know which ones I want and which is better for my money. I decided to get the seared garlic salmon for now. Once I took a bit into it, it just made me want more T^T but my wallet said other wise. After some serious contemplation and seeing everyone still eating, I decided to get the garlic ahi too. I put in my order and waited patiently. After 15 minutes, I was kinda wondering where it was but I brushed it off. One of his friends place an order and 10 minutes later his came out… mine didn’t. They were all done eating and by then, I figured it was never coming xP oh well, less to pay for me ;D

Every now and then, my genki cravings, that I MUST satisfy, would randomly appear and this location is my go-to. Mainly because the wait isn’t ridiculously long and there’s always parking within 5 minutes of looking. Oh, and it’s cheaper.(:D) It was a busy Saturday night; all the booths and counters were occupied. To be honest, I expected the wait to be longer than usual but with the most confident voice ever, the friendly hostess assured we’d have a seat in 5 minutes tops. And she was definitely right. Exactly 5 minutes later, we were already seated. The service that night was great. The servers promptly filled our waters and asked us if we needed anything, although our orders did take a little longer to get to us. However, the food was yummy, so whatevs!

«Round and round it goes; where it stops nobody knows.» A couple days ago, we were in the Ward Village area in the mood for a quick and light lunch. We could have gone to Pā’ina Café for a poke bowl but instead we spotted Genki Sushi. The restaurant was packed with families, friends and tourists. Genki Sushi is a busy sushi chain restaurant where selections of fresh made sushi choices are placed on a conveyor belt that snakes through the seating areas for one to pick. It’s convenient and quick Japanese fast food. Granted, the quality of ingredients or portions do not even compare to the high standards and artistry at Sushi Sasabune, Morio’s or Nobu’s but heck, we just wanted a quick, light and reasonably priced meal. We were greeted promptly by a hostess upon entry and signed in as this restaurant was crowded. We waited only 10 minutes when the hostess guided us toward a pair of seats at their dining counter near the sushi makers. I felt this area was perfect as we were able to watch the sushi makers place new or fresh items on the conveyor belt where we could snatch up some of our favorites. Our server was prompt in getting us tall glasses of iced water and cups of hot tea. She was attentive and efficient. We placed our order with her and watched her give our order ticket to the sushi maker. While waiting for our order, we picked a couple items off the conveyor belt. Within a few minutes, our order was quickly produced and served to us. We ordered: — Spicy Salmon Gunkan — Natto Gunkan — Ikura Gunkan — Spicy Ahi Gunkan — Baby Scallops Gunkan — Crawfish Gunkan — Spicy Salmon Nigiri — Avocado-Ebi Nigiri — Kaki Fry(deep fried oysters) Each type of sushi was served on a color coded plate to account for its serving price. As our meal ended, our server came by to tally up our towers of plates. Our bill was somewhere around $ 32. In summary, we liked that our server delivered our sushi as quickly as it came out from sushi maker’s hands. Our counter area filled with different colored plates and fortunately, we had a lot of space for our eating area. The chopsticks, napkins, sauce dishes, menus and gari(pickled pink ginger/sushi ginger) were previously set-up on the counter as self-serve and the dining areas were clean. The freshness of the seafood was on point and the portions were priced reasonably. # 403

I love Genki Sushi! And I love it even more now with their new system going on. However the night I did decide to eat at this location, it was bad. I tried to understand because it gets difficult working at food service. But it definitely felt like it was just our party that wasn’t getting the great service like the rest of the other customers. 1. When we got seated, no drinks were offered. Not even water or hot tea. So I had to order it through the screen but wasn’t given to me 15 min. after the fact that I’ve already started eating. 2. No trays were given to pour our shoyu sauce or wasabi. Had to improvise by using the plate where my food was. However when a new party came to us, trays were given and even their drinks right when they settled down and sat. 3. They didn’t check up on us frequently like the other customers around us. Which I felt like we weren’t important as the others. Other than that the food was good. It was probably just a bad night.

I’ve only been to this Ward location of Genki Sushi a handful of times, but I actually prefer it to the Ala Moana location because it tends to be less crowded. I’ve never had to wait long in order to get a seat here, even though this Genki is located in Ward Center. My mom and I happened to be shopping in Ward around 11:30 a.m. on a Wednesday and we were contemplating our lunch options. We were initially going to the Ala Moana Genki location because my mom had never seen the new conveyor belt – in that, you can electronically order your sushi and your selection will roll out to you on a little cart – but I knew that this Ward Genki was much faster, so we just decided to stay put, since we were already at Ward. The counter was wide open, save for a few customers, when we came in for lunch. It was really nice not to wait, plus I felt that we got more attention from the staff(in terms of water and tea refills), since they weren’t too busy. By the time we left around 12:30 p.m., there were definitely more people in the eatery and if you wanted a table, you had to wait. I’ve never been disappointed in my menu choices when it comes to Genki(any location). I’ve tried many different things from here – and there are still more to try – but I definitely have my favorites. Here’s what we got on this particular visit: «Crab Mayo»: This is one of my favorite dishes from Genki; I normally don’t like mayonnaise but this is the only time that I eat it. «Crab Mayo» consists of imitation crab wrapped in nori. That’s my favorite part of the California roll, and a good portion of the imitation crab is usually included in this dish. «Stuffed Mushrooms»: My mom likes to order this, and I usually have one of the mushrooms since three come in the little dish. Mushrooms aren’t normally my favorite, but these stuffed mushrooms are absolutely to die for! They’re stuffed with that imitation crab filling and garlic; each mushroom is so succulent and juicy(they don’t skimp when it comes to mushroom size). If you like mushrooms, you’ll love this dish, but even if you’re not the hugest mushroom fan(like me), you may just surprise yourself and end up really liking it. «Spam Sushi»: This is another one of my mom’s favorites, and on this visit, I didn’t order it for myself(I was too busy eating more«fishy rolls»), but I had one of the two spam sushis on the plate. I always enjoy this selection because it’s a mini version of a spam musubi(light on the rice) but the teri glaze that tops off the spam is slightly sweet and enhances the sushi’s flavor. «Spicy Tuna»: It was at this location that I tried spicy tuna for the first time, and man oh man, what have I been missing all these years. I was always intimidated by this menu selection, I suppose, because I have never been the hugest fan of tuna — canned tuna or otherwise. Plus, I was always a bit queasy about raw fish. But I enjoyed this spicy tuna dish immensely. The tuna tasted fresh and I liked the spicy sauce that it was smothered in – it was flavorful but not too spicy for my liking. I picked the green onion garnish off my tuna, but I would definitely order this again. In fact, if I’m really hungry, I wouldn’t hesitate to order the«Spicy Tuna Bowl» that my dad really loves from here. «Spicy Bomb»: I was always curious to see what this dish tastes like, and it seems to include the spicy tuna filling but inside of the inari shell. I guess if I want something slightly fancier, I would opt for this dish, but the interior seems to look the same as the spicy tuna roll. «Spicy Salmon»: Salmon is one of my favorites, so I would be down to try this dish the next time I visit Genki. I tried the seared«Garlic Salmon» before, so I know I’d probably like this dish, but it includes salmon filling wrapped in nori and probably topped with that spicy tuna sauce. «Salmon Cream Cheese Roll»: This roll reminds me of a Philly roll because it includes cream cheese, and since it features salmon, I definitely want to try it at some point. «Dynamite Spicy Tuna»: I usually stay away from the pricier black plates, but this roll always intrigued me … even moreso now that I like spicy tuna! I wonder what makes it «dynamite» and I wonder if that means that it’ll be spicier than the usual«Spicy Tuna Roll.» I am interested in trying this roll, in addition to the«Volcano Roll,» one day!

When I crave for sushi, Genki is the first place that comes to mind. But since we were in the area for a consultation for another possible wedding vendor, we decided to come here. I usually like coming here cause there’s no wait, which was the situation this day. no wait, great! It took awhile for us to get our water after being seated, as well as putting in our order even if the staff kept passing us. We finally got to order our food, and my fiancé ordered some fried item, which I cant remember what it was. but it was cold. I told him that they probably just picked it off the belt cause I remember seeing it pass us by on the belt. I mean, the whole reason of us ordering the items is so that we could have it made FRESH. But he’s a trooper and one to not complain, so he just ate it. My squid combo was salty for some reason, so it wasn’t a pleasure to eat. Their portions has gotten smaller not too much on taste. Service was really mediocre, and I wasn’t such a big fan on that either.

Seriously what happened to the quality here? I haven’t been here in a while. mostly because Kulu Kulu is my go to spot now days and I’m never in Ward. But my fiancé and I noticed you guys jacked up the prices and insanely lowered your standards. $ 4.00 for a poke bowl with two small table spoons of poke and a small scoop of rice? Really? And come you’re guys staff is horrible. Yes you’re tentative to take orders and bring us the food but your run away after you drop of stuff without asking if we need anything thing. Trying to get a waiter/waitress.is like trying to hail a taxi during rush hour. You guys weren’t even busy. The 1 star is basically for the fried squid and chicken we orders which was fresh. yet everything else wasn’t. Safe to say we will no longer be coming here and rather drive the extra few milled to a better sushi restaurant -.- sorry y’all~

There are times when I crave fast, cheap sushi and Genki always comes to mind. I come here only a few times a year(or less) and it’s just… eh. I came to this location one evening for dinner and had about a 20min wait. There’s Brookstone and several boutique shops nearby for you to browse in to pass the time. Once we got seated our server quickly got us our drinks and took our order(s). I think the sushi made at this location tastes better than Ala Moana’s location IMO. The sushi on the rotating belt never look appealing to me, so I just order off the menu. The only reason I’m giving this place 2 stars is because I found a small black hair in one of my sushi’s *thumbs down* and a small cupcake costs $ 4 which is insane(go to Hokulani if you really want a cupcake worth the price). I can’t get too excited about sushi here. I would go to a more traditional japanese restaurant, maybe pay a little more $ for the atmosphere and authenticity; but like I said if your looking for fast, cheap sushi either give this place a try or head over to Kuru Kuru.

To the best of perceptions, it’s mostly a novel device to increment the appeal. And it works. We waited in queue for 15 minutes. The food itself, you’d be ashamed to write to your mama about. I won’t say it’s bad but I believe we all had better. The fare is affordable. I believe there’s 2 sections, the first is next to the conveyor and the second allows you to order from the touch-screen monitors. It’s pretty neat. The food comes on a monorail.

I usually go to the location in Ala Moana because of convenience while shipping in the mall and because they have those automatic«trains» that deliver sushi that you can order yourself. Though the wait there is really long sometimes, maybe like 30 minutes plus at rush hour. I started to go to this location recently and I actually like it better. If you happen to go when it’s slow, the service is pretty good and the quality + portions of the food is better.(I’m guessing because they don’t have to keep up with such a high demand as in Ala Moana) The servers are attentive and I usually don’t have to wait long after ordering to receive my food.

You get what you pay for! Genki Sushi is a revolver type of sushi restaurant, where the chefs make the dishes in the back and place it on a conveyor belt that goes round and round. The Genki Sushi restaurants very in quality across the Ala Moana /Ward Warehouse /Kapahulu /Kane’ohe locations. The sushi is cheap. You get cheap sushi. I ordered three orders of the Hamachi sushi and got two plates of sushi where the fish was mismatched and touch as leather. It kind of ruined the meal for me(who normally eats 15 – 18 dishes by myself). The fish was smelly and did not taste fresh. The most unpleasant part of my experience was the management staff. First, I have to say that the staff employees work really hard in their jobs. They helped to refill tea, make sure that you have everything that you want to order, etc. All of their positive efforts can be overshadowed by the grumpy manager. the manager(guy who watched over the employees and managed the cashier area) was very unpleasant and did not seem to appreciate his customers. I was excited to pay my bill, but he seemed to not have the time to appreciate me. No conversation of — «How was your meal» or «Did you have a nice time» or «How are you doing» or «Thanks for coming in». All I got was grunts. Sorry, I don’t speak caveman. Never again.
