Only my second time to come here and all this time I have been missing out on the best Blueberry Danish I have ever had! The Chocolate Croissant is also delicious and oh so flaky! Definitely recommend this place if you enjoy quality pastries. Can’t wait to go back for more deliciousness!

All about the croissant breakfast sandwiches. They only serve this til 10:30 so get your butt down there. Their bread is great and the bacon has always been nice and crisp. I’ve asked to switch to cheddar or add basil pesto and all have been amazing. But there is something nice about a simple bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich done well. They have other breakfast options but hard to stray when you found your gem.

I LOVE French-style bakeries and there are only a few bakeries on Oahu with the power to make my knees go weak the seconds I stepped foot into their venues and Fendu Boulangerie is no exception. Fendu Boulangerie — you are my French kryptonite. It is not fair for you to have such a hold on me. This bakery really makes me forget my «everything in moderation» food-sense, throw caution to the wind and completely abandon my low-carb mantra. There is not much in this bakery I do not want to eat, nible nor stuff my face even though the urge to gorge is strong, very strong… lol. On the not-so-rare occasions I do allow myself to indulge(or most likely pig out!), I would CALMLY conveyed my order(s) to the cashier. And that order usuallly means lots of Fendu’s awesome &AWESOME danishes! Why are their Danish pastries so tasty? That is because danishes contain a large amount of butter! Who doesn’t love butter? My hand is not up. I cannot resist this tiny French-style bakery. Fendu’s danishes are«to die for», ultimately delicious and too darn addicting. If only over indulgence of baked goods would be a health tonic prescribed by a doctor. I love the variety of Fendu’s Danish pastries: mascarpone pear chocolate, fuji apple, blueberry, lychee streusel and chocolate. Let just say the these perfectly light and flaky pastry goodness doesn’t last long in my hand. Friendly reminder to self: chew slowly, enjoy the goodness and savor every bite. It is very difficult to do this and I usually failed miserably. At times, I played games with myself in the make-belief I would slow down my over-efficient danish-eating speed if I’d drink hot coffee as a side distraction. What can I say, I have good intentions but not good follow-through. Perhaps one of these days I would not be distracted by their danishes and actually be able to try their sandwiches, cheesecakes, cookies or confections. Sigh… Decadent danishes are not my only weakness here. I equally enjoyed the pear almond tarts and their amazing sweet and savory croissants available daily. The French baguettes are also very good and they do «do» French bread right. I used to enjoyed getting my baguettes from Ba Le but their quality has gone down, way down. It’s a good thing Fendu is opened for business seven days a week. My only saving grace is the comfort in knowing I do not reside near nor within walking distance to Fendu. Out of site, out of mind as they say but every so often, the memories of their deliciousness lingers on and beckons me to make a quick trip to Fendu. It’s quite hard to curb, control and contained my guilty pleasure here. I give up already.

I love, love, love, this bakery. The one item I always get is the Lychee Streusel Danish. The danish is nice and flaky. In the middle, the lychee pieces sit atop the custard cream. This is the only danish that I like and it’s only from here. I could eat it in my sleep. I probably do in my dreams, haha. I don’t like bread so I’ve never tried any of their loaves. Their desserts from here are awesome. Today, I couldn’t choose between the Valrohna Dark Chocolate Dome and the Pumpkin Hazelnut Cheesecake. I decided on the cheesecake. The Pumpkin Hazelnut Cheesecake is smooth and creamy. The flavors blend nicely and has a nice taste to it. It isn’t sweet at all but is so decadent. It’s filling, so if you come for this, don’t get too many items.

One day when I have a lot of time to work out(like five hours a day) I’ll order an entire tray of lilikoi cheesecakes and lychee caramel flan from Fendu and eat them in one sitting. Until then, I have to limit myself to only one pastry per visit. Thank god this location is far from my house, otherwise I’d visit 10 times a day! If sweet isn’t your thing their sandwiches, pizza and soups are worth your time too. I feel as though this place has been around forever, and I’ve always ordered a veggie special, if I’m feeling fat, or a chicken pesto sandwich if not. If you’re hungry you should have both! This is a takeout concept and there are only three tables outside. If you come here during the lunch rush be prepared for your sandwich to take about 15 to 20 minutes to be ready. Lunch for two will definitely be around $ 20(with a pastry), so check this place out the next time you’re in the area!

I tried the mango and berry scones, $ 1 each. I heard that the owner learned to bake at France. No wonder why they taste so good! Crusty and a bit crunchy on the outside, but soft inside. To be honest, it didn’t taste like mango, but it added a good amount of sweetness. I felt like I was in Europe! I think I wanna try others too, but it seemed kind of pricey, most of them ranging from $ 2.5 to $ 6.

One of my favorite bakeries on the island! It’s French and the the owner was actually trained in France too! That must mean something since everything is delectable! My favorite is the lychee Danish & pear & chocolate Danish! Cookies are great too, but pricey! Pros: Delicious baked goods and pastries! Sandwiches are great! Top quality! Early hours! Cons: Pricier bakery! Staff can get overwhelmed at times! Not much choices in beverages! House coffee or the fridge! Fendu is located on the Long’s side of Manoa Marketplace! Small bakery, but you can’t go wrong with anything in here! Always seems freshly baked! Café tables are right outside for you to enjoy your goodies!

Here yesterday to pick up Lilikoi Cheesecake for Keith-son’s Birthday. It’s his favorite this year. This shop is sooo tiny that people are whispering in your ear as you stand in line. Was going to get coffee but the man behind me whispered«not here, it’s not very good»…yikes! So two Lilikoi Cheesecakes it was. After being rung up I asked for a mango scone, $ 1.05 each for a tiny scone. Love scones so I thought they would be worthy of a try. No so, too cakelike and moist. I love the sandy scones that you have to put butter or clotted cream on. While the flavor is there the texture is all wrong. Sticking to the cheesecake in the future. Still on the hunt for the best scone on Oahu. Any suggestions are appreciated!

«What’s a name? Just window dressing.» Lyrics from a song I like(bonus points if you can tell me which). They certainly apply to my recent experience here with its«Ground Wagyu beef sandwich». I saw«Wagyu beef», and figuring a French-style bakery had to have good bread to go with it, I ordered it. A 1/3-lb. burger of the good stuff pan seared, with tomato, onion, pickle, and mayo on a ciabatta bread bun for $ 10.25. My first clue that things weren’t going to turn out as anticipated was when the clearly un-enthusiastic lady behind the counter did not ask me how I wanted the burger done. Twenty minutes later, I get a pretty plain-looking, plain-tasting burger done medium. This is Wagyu beef? Nothing special here. I’ve had better burgers that weren’t Wagyu beef. When I get an urge to reach for the ketchup bottle, I know I’ve had better. At least the burger wasn’t overdone. «Fendu» in French means cracked. Ahh. That explains a lot. This place’s «Ground Wagyu beef sandwich», and service(20 minutes?) could sure use some repair to make the delivery live up to the promise.

I’m glad my memory isn’t that great… so I’m able to forget bad experiences at places and give them another try when I forget. LoL. Anyways, I landed upon this place with my friends as we were in the area looking for desserts. The one-eyed pirate helped us out and he was much more friendlier than what I had experienced back in 2012. I got the macaroon, which was yummy, as well as the fruit pâté. Also very yummy. My friend said that their scones are good so I have to go back to try that as well as their paninis! They even had a veggie friendly one! I’m excited. Gotta go back soon.

Location: The bakery is located in the Manoa Shopping Center near Longs Drugs. Parking is plentiful in this shopping center. Ambiance: The shop is small with a few display cases for dessert and on the wall there is the selection of baked bread. I didn’t feel like the bakery was welcoming and personable. A warm friendly welcome could have changed the way I felt about the bakery. Menu: The menu is limited with a handful of baked breads displayed on the wall and counter, dessert dishes in the display case and they also serve pizza and sandwich after 11am. They offer serve breakfast sandwiches. We came around 10:30am and wanted a lunch sandwich but didn’t want to wait half an hour since we had to be somewhere at 11am. We tried the lychee Danish and lychee flan. They were both okay. The lychee Danish is unique tasting and flaky. Seating: There is only outdoor seating right outside the bakery. Overall, I live on the west side of the island and it is out of the way to visit this bakery. I’m glad I made the time to visit this bakery but I’ll probably not be back again. I may come back in the future if there is a wider variety of baked goods.

My husband bought a classic pizza. They burnt it, threw it out, and made him a brand new one. And gave us 2 cookies for the«inconvenience». It really wasn’t much of a long wait either. Maybe 10 minutes? Those cookies — worth your two dollars! There is chocolate in every single bite. But if that’s not great customer service, then idk what is! you Fendu Boulangerie! Love, Your loyal customer forever.

The smell of fresh baked bread brings up so many memories I just wanna sit down and eat a nice freshly baked bread with a little butter and drink coffee. I am lured deep into Manoa Valley to an unassuming French bakery putting out pastries infused with local flavors and the love of the land. I don’t eat as much fruit as I should but I do like having them in my meals. Fendu uses them well into their breads and pastries. Lilikoi, lychee, guava, pineapple, fuji apple, mango to name a few are all here. Two of my fave desserts, cheesecake and flan, are here infused with two of my fave fruits. I have to try them, lilikoi cheesecake and lychee caramel flan. It’s a match made in heaven. Where can I get a recipe? You can taste a bit of the tartiness of lilikoi cheesecake but the taste is light. I keep eating it quick just to get more of the taste and before I knew it it was gone. The lychee, also light in taste, is delicious. I wish there was more. The soft and delicate texture of the pastries played so well in my mouth we were ready to go back for more. But alas, we must do things moderately in life if we want to live long and prosper. Another visit is, for sure, soon to come. Looking for something sweet, give this place a shot with your coffee.

I wish I got here earlier. When I got there only a few pastries were left. I ordered the chocolate croissant, lilikoi macaron, and dark chocolate macaron. out of the three I enjoyed the lilikoi macaron. I have been to Paris and the macarons here are pretty close to the macarons I had at Laduree in Paris and that says a lot. I am surprised that there are a lot of places that make macarons here in Hawaii but I am glad also. macarons are light on the outside and yummy and gooey in the middle. Thanks Fendu Boulangerie for bringing back vacation memories! The only downfall is that it is a small place. oh yeah it is located in the manoa marketplace next to Bank of Hawaii.

What can I say… my Unilocal buddy Lyla D. was spot on about this place! What seal da deal was when she mentioned something about a «Lychee Pastry!» Lychee you say??? Aaaaaah, me and da lychee… I grew up liking that stuff! Liked it so much as a kid, I planted a lychee seed in our front yard from when I was eating some lychee… now is a gigantic lychee tree which is worthless cuz it doesn’t bear any fruit! Ugh! But I must say, it’s good for shade for the front of the house! Lol! Anyways, getting back to this place called Fendu Boulangerie… how you pronounce dat? I not French… I one bruddah from da 808! As I was finishing some work this afternoon at a bank in the Manoa Marketplace… I remembered about this place that Lyla D. had talked about. I had a little time, so I just popped into the little bakery to check out the goods. Man they have an array of stuff here… breads, pies, cheese cake, flan, sandwiches, pizza, pastries… it’s a bakery heaven! Upon looking around… I basically came for one thing… the Lychee Streusel Danish! YES!!! Upon making my purchase… i quickly exited the establishment & sat outside on one of the open tables in front of the bakery. Ripped open the bag & gazed at this little beautiful square piece of heaven! I especially looked at the center for a long time… as that was what I came here for… da LYCHEE! The pastry part was good too… light, and flaky I bit into the danish & had a danishgasm! Ummmmmmmm, noms! I think if I had a good cup of coffee like the Philz coffee I had in SF would have topped off this little snack! Well…if I ever need another fix for a lychee danish, I will be sure to come back here. But next time I will come with a good cup of coffee in my hand! The items here are small kine expensive, but good stuff does cost a little moolah ya know? Lots of parking in the private parking lot which is shared by other businesses. This little bakery is located just around the corner of the Manoa Longs Drugs. Check ‘em out gang!

Je suis folle de boulangerie Fendu car il est un rêve devenu réalité! We wandered into the Manoa Marketplace to just browse the businesses located there. It was still relatively early that the only 3 longstanding businesses open were Longs Drugs, Safeway and Fendu Boulangerie. As we exited our vehicle, we were caught by the aroma of fresh baked bread or pastry. Like moths drawn to light, we made a beeline over to Fendu Boulangerie. I quickly peered into the shop and noticed the refrigerated and unrefrigerated pastry cases, bins of various loaf styles of bread, sandwich and coffee menus and a huge coffee urn. Fortunately, there was another couple being served while we quickly scanned the shelves. I was attracted to their selections of pâte de fruit and macarons of Fuji Apple, Passion Fruit(Lilikoi), guava, strawberry and vanilla flavors. While my husband signaled me to checkout the danishes, both sweet or savory. A sudden mouthwatering moment hit us as we stepped up to order a lychee danish, Fuji apple danish and an olive-herb fougasse. We took our purchases outside and took bites of our pastry that evoked memories of travel and my student life in Paris, France. The danish pastry was crisp, buttery, and flakey layered like a croissant. It was unlike the yeast-risen sweet dough that most Americans grew up with. The fillings were unique uses of tropical, rose-scented lychee or lightly cinnamon-sugared Fuji apples. We sat for awhile savoring the buttery richness and delicateness of these pastries while the cares of earlier morning drifted away. I opened the paper bag that held our loaf of fougasse to inhale its herbaceous and Mediterranean aromas. Geez, I hadn’t seen or made one for decades but it was staring back at me today! What is fougasse? It’s a French(Provence) version of Italy’s focaccia but normally shaped or cut as an ear of wheat. Quickly, I closed the bag and put it in our car while we walked around Manoa Marketplace with smiles on our faces. We will make it a point to return for more of their artisan breads such as their miche(akin to sourdough), baguette, sweet onion naan, or buckwheat fig. Or we’ll just go there for a healthy lunch or a sweet treat. Fendu Boulangerie will certainly transport your tastebuds to France. As a full-service bakery, it offers fresh breads, made-to-order sandwiches, various basic coffee-drinks(no barista involvement), cakes, tarts and confections. It is the dream come true for chef/owner Niel Koep who opened this Euro-inspired bakery in quiet Manoa in 2009.

On the quest for places that I can eat at with my dog, this has quickly become one of my favorite go-to breafast spots. If I wake up too late to go over to Morning Glass Café on Saturday morning and don’t feel the need to wait in the extremely long line, I’ll drive the ½ block back to go here. There is no inside seating. On a busy Saturday morning, be prepared for them to run out of items and also be prepared to be standing in line. The last time I went there was a very impatient customer who seemed to think if he kept telling the worker he was in a rush that he could bypass the line. NOT cool at all. There is only one register. Only one other busy worker running to fill orders. Anyway… just be patient in the line. It will go quicker than you think, but be ready to order when you get 1 – 2 ppl away from the register. Things that are my favorites that you really cant get anywhere else? The lychee strudel & the pot pie. The pot pie sells out fast, so if you are going to be late, call in your order early! Only downside? I end up getting coffee or beverages elsewhere. Really wish coffee bean and tea leaf was next door so I could be more lazy and not walk across the parking lot for my cream, sugar and dash of coffee to go with breakfast.
