Felt good about this place as soon as we pulled up. Man and woman at the door both looked happy to see us. Then they each warmly greeted us and it felt sincere and friendly. By FAR the nicest door guys I’ve ever come across. Normally they don’t crack a smile or say anything. Then, walked in and easily found a place to sit, on a Saturday night. At most clubs you can count on being on your feet the entire night. Laid back, modern décor with flattering lighting and space to move around. The staff are all super attentive and do a great job keeping the place clean and in order. The bathrooms are clean. Drinks come pretty quick. The crowd is classy from what I have seen. On this particular night, I’d say mostly late 20s and 30s crowd. I would definitely come back. Thanks for the great service. ^_^

My absolute favorite hang out on Tuesday and Thursday evenings! The staff is adorable. Completely fantastic! The bar tender is amazing! The chef is superb and the atmosphere can’t be beat! And if you know me, you know I’m not a clubber. Mostly because I can’t stand crowds and don’t care for places with a raunchy tone. I just love me a place with great vibes. Thank goodness this place exceeds all standards! The happy hour is cray! Prices can’t be beat for the top drinks in town. Come by on a Tuesday around 6:45pm and you’ll find me having a cocktail and parting with my fellow Neriumites!

Drinks are measured by jigger not pour so they are weak as hell. Sound is clean though. Cocktail waitresses are kind and on point. Don’t put your drinks on go go platform or they will get taken even if full, without warning. Not at all pleased with cocktails. Very anemic

Lounge, bar and dance floor with a modern, contemporary flair. Eleven44’s space is the perfect example of a hangout for the post-work twenty somethings crowd. The tapas are reasonably priced and a change from the usual Asian fusion palette. The DJ is usually spinning early 2000’s Billboard charts(R&B and hip hop). The hint of nostalgia was enough to coax me into staying for another round of appetizers. Parking is available just outside on the street with meters, or around the corner at Mark’s Garage and the municipal lot. The place could benefit from valet service, especially if you’re looking to drop in and out between engagements.

ABSOLUTELYFANTASTICEXPERIENCE. I can only speak for Soul’d out Saturdays. We came in this past Saturday 10⁄4 after dinner because we heard about 70s, 80s, 90s music… um, YES. We were all in! PARKING: Street, public municipal lots(be careful, though, because some close at a certain time) or $ 8 valet parking at Mark’s Garage. We chose the last option, which was GREAT. Pulling in, having them park for us(we couldn’t find street parking, it was so busy) and then tipping on the way out was worth it for us. Mark’s Garage! LOCATION: Bethel St in the same building as Mark’s Garage, next block up from Hawai’i Theater as you head up Bethel toward Beretania. ENTRANCE: the cover charge was $ 5 and the people at the front friendly. THECLUB: I was pleasantly surprised, especially because I’d suggested going dancing but was weary not knowing if it’d be dumpy. Wanted our friends to have a good time. It was beautiful! Nicely decorated, modern, clean, spacious, GREAT crowd that night. We literally went STRAIGHT to the dance floor and never got off it. Literally danced out the door. The DJ did a great job playing music everyone recognized and enjoyed… CLASSICS. Everyone — our friends and the rest of the crowd — had such a great time. It was nice to dance around a crowd who was genuinely happy to be dancing, not worried about what everyone else was doing… no one sleezy. Slightly older(yet YOUTHFUL!) crowd(including us) on this night, which was fun. So excited to return. We didn’t get to try the food or drinks ’cause we’d already eaten. But, the pupus others were eating looked great. I liked that the seating was comfortable looking, furniture clean and welcoming. We’ll be back!

Came to Eleven44 for pau hana drinks with some coworkers on a Tuesday around 6pm. The space is expansive with very modern décor. One bartender was working, with maybe 3 customers at the bar. Our group of 3 sat in the back area because it had couches. Happy Hour Menu: 5−7pm $ 5 well drinks(DONT be fooled by the drink menu that says«premium well cocktails», leading you to think that the drinks listed are $ 5) $ 6 house wines(again, menu just says«wine») $ 1 off beers and tapas starting at $ 4(though the menu only has $ 6 tapas…) We ordered the Spinach dip and Hummus; both come with oily wonton chips. good, but very oily. As past reviews will tell you, the spinach dip is bomb! While the hummus was okay, a bit lemon-y for my taste. For $ 6, the portions of dip are very small– think CPK Small Plates. Low rating for service and near false advertising on their Happy Hour menu. The bartender was timely when it came to taking our first round of orders, but didn’t come back to see if we needed anything after the first drinks and tapas arrived. We waited 20+ minutes before I walked up to the bar to ask for it. Also mind boggling– when we asked the bartender which Premium Cocktails were on Happy Hour, he told us none that were listed in the menu. So basically HH for nothing? Same thing for wine, their menu lists a number of vino choices– but none specified for HH. And finally tapas, menu says«tapas $ 4» they are all $ 6

Sometimes we have to rush a review– because if we don’t the place may close or just rename themselves. Here is a case of one of them. Downtown is changing– the night life is not what it is in LA, NYC or even Chicago– but it is something. They are trying. And it shows. 1144 has different events– they have like a publicist that shows off them as much as they can and it is usually about how many djs that they have or about different night life ideas that they have. 1 idea that they have is game board nights– I have not been to this event but it makes me not want to go as it is a bar– there was one episode of bar rescue with John Taffer that games are stupid in a bar that they are childish and do not make a point to make a bar great. He suggests making communication points where people talk to each other or enjoy DJs and music. I was at a few made events– meaning RPCVs had an event here. People wanted to get together — drink, eat a few things and talk. It is a small area– and people get to know each other because the area makes people bump into each other and start talking. The food to eat is like tapas(I don’t remember if it is called small plates per se but they are small plates). It is like artacohearts dip, meatballs and other small bite size tastes. Some comfort food– some really spice. A nice blend of foods that go great with drinks. The bar is really just a bar– get a beer, get a cosmo, the bar is a bar. It really is a place to get together and drink. There are plenty of bars downtown– this is one that seems to change often in furniture and in ownership in recent years. This is a nicer bar IMO. Great seats, great waitresses, great bar staff. I hope they can be getting this kind of great bar seating that is clean and a good part of the community off and running so that night life downtown is appealing to many more people so that downtown cleans up at night time.

Been here a few times so far and after this weekend, decided to give it a review. Note: I came a couple weeks ago and hated the music, I mean I can enjoy house music, but not hours straight of it, they definitely need to mix it up a bit. Came back this weekend for the pipeline event, and had a lot of fun. Our waitress: Chris, or something like that, was sweet and very helpful! The Drinks were nice, they make a killer Mojito and they have premium wells, which I’m all for! As a group we all had fun and definitely will be coming back soon.

I was a fan of this place when it was Bamboo Too. Unfortunately, I am not impressed with the redesign. I was most impressed with their food options and ginger drinks. Not only are the drinks not advertised here anymore, neither is the food. Not like you would get much information from the server. It’s just way too loud here with the wall knocked down to include a dance floor to even find out what happened. They have turned this really awesome relaxing lounge into another«trying too hard» danceclub. I kept this as a 3 star though because they still have remnants of their ginger drinks left, but you have to ask your server about it to guide you in the right direction. Also check if the back area has reserved signs. They usually don’t but are empty because people assumed they’re reserved.

Eleven 44 really gets going late at night and on First Fridays. You can dance here although it’s pretty small. I like Eleven 44 for drinks and conversation with a little dancing thrown in to get things started before heading down to Hotel Street and it’s dance clubs. The ambience of Eleven 44 is chic and quite lovely.

Wonderful bar & club!!! I have nothing but fantastic things to say about Eleven 44 :) Fun, fun, fun !!! First the general manager Jody is awesome! He’s great at setting up parties and making sure everyone is happy! Oh, and being cute… is a bonus! The place is perfect for Pau Hana get togethers… can’t wait to take my co-workers here! The décor is mod and youthful… I actually feel dated but it’s all good ;) lol The drinks are fabulous… nice pours! I can’t wait to check it out on a evening when they have 70’s and 80’s dancing ;)…I love to shake my booty! It is a definite must check out!

My original 3STAR review: If you want to pretend you are a Kardashian in Vegas, you might like it. It’s the first place I’ve walked into in Hawaii where I felt WAYYY out-Klassed. Everyone was wearing their very best new designer«look at me» shirt and sparkly party dress. Long pants and shoes for men. In contrast, I felt like I totally fell off the Big Island turnip truck in my well worn black aloha shirt I just pulled out of my carry-on flight bag, walking shorts, and slippers. The left side is a large bar/lounge in front with some kind of VIP semiprivate area in back. I walked through and went into the disco side, since my friend had brought me here for a dance party. The the right side is a large dance room with again some kind of weird empty«VIP» area in one corner(next to the mens room!), then an awkward DJ ledge in another corner, finally a small bar in another corner… very limited seating otherwise and zero drink rails for standing and drinking if you are not dancing. There was one bar table for all the people to put their drinks while they were dancing and I was somewhat amused watching people frequently picking up someone else’s drink from this tiny communal bar table. It was pretty much the laziest low-budget«fancy» dance club décor I could imagine, with some white sheets hanging from the ceiling and a projector playing a random assortment of pictures of models. The lesbian AA house party I attended recently had a wayyy better dance floor and disco lighting, and a LOT less attitude. The DJ had a good crowd of people dancing and then just kind of gave up apparently and everybody left. It seemed obvious there was somewhere better to go but I hadn’t befriended anyone quickly enough to find out where they were all going next. Maybe the DJ wanted to go there also ??? I guess there were cocktail waitresses… but apparently I was invisible to them, since I never got so much as a smile or hello or even eye contact. On the plus side, the bartender in the far right of the bar in the corner of the disco side was responsive and excellent and drinks were surprisingly affordable given the general attitude of the place: $ 5 well and $ 5 heinekens. I only had one mixed drink but it was decently strong. CORRECTION– I just read in some promotion for the club that they don’t have two VIP areas… they have SEVENVIP areas. Really? Are there that many VIPs on Oahu? Wow! Or are there just that many wanna-be VIPs? When EVERYONE is VERYIMPORTANT, then it’s not very important. IMHO. And if you need a «private area» to be cordoned off into so much when you go out… well, just stay home. That’s your very own VIP«private area.» UPDATE– after posting my original 3 star review, I was contacted by the manager with a friendly response in which she basically gave me a list of other bars I might enjoy better, LOL. I wish she would have also said«please try Eleven44 again» but since she didn’t say that, the implication was«you’re right, you don’t belong here»… still, it was a friendly tone, so I’m bumping them up a star as I always do when a business takes the time to write a polite response. UPDATE #2– After looking at their invitation to another event, I noticed they do specify slippers not being desired and«Dressing to impress encouraged.»

Haven’t eaten the food here yet(I’m excited from looking at all of these reviews) but have been here for evening events like First Friday since they opened/changed from The Venue. The vibe is great, with a good diverse crowd with upbeat music. The staff is friendly and efficient. The space is pretty large so it’s a lot of people when it gets packed. There’s street parking, parking lots, mark’s garage, or just cab it over to keep it easy and safe ;-) It’s in the middle of other popular night spots so you can go in and out if you want to galavant and check out other spots in the area.

The softer side of nightlife. I know this is not the review Eleven 44 hopes for but… Rant: I’ve never understood the night club. 35,000 — 50,000 square feet of space and they pen you behind velvet ropes with your $ 1,000 bottle of vodka currently on sale at Wal-Mart for $ 35. Social interaction is barred by loud music. You just sit, move your lips and hands like a fish in a bowl. Else, get dressed, go out, jump around with other EDM fanatics, only to leave a couple hours later drenched in sweat. Isn’t that what the gym is for? Eleven 44 is nothing like the Vegas super club. A great place to chill after a long day. Contemporary ambiance, comfortable furnishings, lots of space. Very friendly and efficient service delivered from«pleasing to the eye» ladies. An inexpensive happy hour and agreeable food. Stepped up wells including Makers and Kettle. Limited top shelf libations, beer, and wines. Knowledgeable and social bartenders. The food is OK. The warm spinach and artichoke dip as good as any but lacking acidity. The slightly spicy, strong curry flavored vegetable samosas a good bite(caution, the veg purée is molten hot). The lamb gyro, flavorful, but messy. The teriyaki grilled beef skewers, over marinated and tasting oaky, like bourbon was used in the marinade. Strange. Ultimately, at $ 4 per plate, a solid value. Check their website and fb for promotions. An afterthought, maybe I’m getting old. Nah.

Came here for a post concert drink on a Saturday night(with nothing going on in Chinatown). There was a private party going on in the room where I guess there’s usually dancing so we just stayed in the bar area. It is a nice, upscale type lounge but honestly, it’s nothing«new» to me as far as what’s being offered… Dance/Housey/Loungey type music; simple, modern chic décor; pricey specialty drinks and Asian fusion food. But I guess this is the only offering of it’s type downtown so kudos to eleven44 for filling that void. The one thing I really do appreciate is that there is not cover so you can come and go as you like and still keeps that casual«downtown» vibe which to me is essential and important. I’d come back and try the happy hour next time I’m in the hood, but yeah this place seems like a good choice if you’re looking for a sophisticated/hipster vibe downtown.

I like the updated décor — the space is very clean. The last time I was here, the bartender was awesome enough to fix my VERY strong drink with fresh lemonade. Both times, came in on a Friday and was pretty quiet. No cover.

five2seven @ eleven44. The former Bambu two café/lounge is rechristened as eleven44. I never had the opportunity to venture to this business in its previous life, but I was fortunate enough to gather with friends for their happy hour recently. Please see for details regarding location, hours, and menu items. SETTING: The lounge area is modern, contemporary and spacious. The bar commands a presence in the center of the room with bar height tables and sitting areas along the walls. The rear area boasts a semi-private room with couches and tables with a more lounge-esque air about it. HAPPY Hour: Daily from 500−700pm Tuesday thru Saturday. Specials include $ 4 tapas and $ 5 well drinks. Most of our group decided to order well drinks, while we shared the spinach & artichoke dip, lamb gyro lavosh, and crab cakes. Out of the 3 items were ordered, my absolute favorite was the dip. Simply delicious! So good I had to order another since the first was nearly devoured before we knew it. The lamb lavosh and crab cakes were just alright in my opinion. Most of the our group commented that they liked the dip the best. SERVICE: Very good. The server was friendly, patient, and attentive throughout happy hour. She checked on us often, cleared away empty glasses and dishes as needed, and always made sure to ask if everything/everyone as ok. The lounge area was not crowded at all during happy hour(we went on a Thursday), so I imagine this was a possible factor for such attention. In any case, the good service was certainly appreciated. BOTTOMLINE: A nice addition to the happy hour/bar scene in Downtown Honolulu for sure.

My second time there and I love it!!! Bar 35 or Manifest tend to have a long line and way too crowded and this place is a perfect spot to escape from all that especially if you just wanna dance. Just danced last night and the music are the best and loudest and great bass to feel for a hot deaf chick like me ;) just kidding. Maybe not. Well you decide. Free cover all night long. Drinks can be pricey but no waiting in the line and they have waiter service where you can order your drink from a waitress if you’re lazy to order yourself a drink. d Bathroom are amazing! Feels so glamorous and my gosh, plenty of bathroom stalls so no women have to worry about waiting or have a stinking attitude and leave as a happy woman!

****happy hour review***** I’ve been wanting to come here before this place even legitimately opened up, but of course no one really seemed interested. I finally convinced my mom to come with me after work to grab some tapas and a drink for happy hour. Their happy hour is Tuesday-Saturday from 5−7pm. $ 5 well cocktails, $ 6 dollar wine, $ 1 off beer and $ 4 tapas. Really can’t go wrong here financially :) I ordered the red house wine. It came out chilled which I thought was a little odd but it was good, so no complaints there. We also ordered the spinach artichoke dip, crab cakes, and vegetable samosas. The spinach artichoke dip was muy deliciosa! The dip was warm and it came with house-made lavosh chips, which were way better than the typical tortilla chips. Plus the waitress said the lavosh chips never go stale! The crab cakes were good. Not the best I’ve ever had but really can’t complain for 4 bucks. Vegetable samosas: you could taste the Indian curry, there was a little bit of a kick from the spices but it wasn’t too spicy or overwhelming at all. Plus the cucumber and cilantro crème added a nice flavor. I’m not a fan of cocktails but I was perusing through the list and I’m actually really interested to try a few. I will definitely be back to eleven44 and hopefully I can check it out at night, maybe on a busy First Friday or something :)

New lounge in town… Downtown… Chinatown…the old Bambu Two Double the size of Bambu. Lounge on the side, patio still remains and now, a dance floor. Sexy, spacious interior with silver, gray, black and iridescent drapery making up the color scheme. The all white bar stands out with its chrome fixtures. State of the art acoustics, speakers not mounted to the walls but are suspended from the ceiling. Open form less than a month, their soft opening and the First Friday gala! shows promise to another successful lounge and club. Happy hour pricing $ 4 tapas, well drinks, $ 5 selected wine, and quite a few libations made with fresh pressed fruit juices. Libations prices start at a modest $ 6 and moves upward in price. While I didn’t try any, it did look yummy as I watched the bartender prepare them for other patrons.(Between 2 of us– 4 drinks, 3 tapas= $ 28) I tried the crab cakes… very little fillers and heavy on the real crab meat. Sweet sauce with a slight kick topped each cake. I also tried their spinach artichoke dip which was swerved with wun tun chips as the dipper. The spinach artichoke dip by far is the best I’ve had I Honolulu or anywhere for that matter. The extreme creamy texture sets it apart from the rest. Street parking after 5:30 or $ 3 municipal parking after 5 pm. I’m heading there one day soon for happy hour…
