Ebikes Hawaii

The staff at the Ebikes shop at Hickam is incredibly knowledgable, I did not know even know Ebikes existed until I spoke with a young man for about thirty minutes and he was more than willing to help me with all of my questions. He seemed incredibly knowledgable in the field of Ebikes and was able to pinpoint the perfect bike for my needs! I currently live in Mililani where the wind combined with the hills can really take biking out of the work commute equation. I found the perfect solution through their help though, now I am able to get to and from work with ease on my ebike!
I am totally recommending Ebikes Hawaii to anyone that needs to get out of Hawaii traffic. Super great service, incredible selection, and they are in a very convienient location!

I had a very good experience with E Bikes Hawaii. I have been a lifelong cyclist and started as a road racer in high school. I love nice bicycles and ride most days.
Anyway, I ordered a very nice custom tandem with hopes of taking my wife and kids for rides. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that I would be doing most of the work and the hills around Kaneohe are not pleasant with a heavy load. That beautiful tandem has been sitting idle for years.
I contacted Roy at Ebikes Hawaii to see if he could help me out with an electric hub conversion. He came up with a quality solution (front hub motor) and suggested all the other components to make it work. Within a couple of weeks I was set up with an excellent solution and I’m very happy with the outcome.
I’ll be contacting Roy shortly to have them install another electric motor on a different bike.
I never gave much thought to electric motors on bikes but it is a very nice option for us aging cyclist. It will allow me to continue riding through the years as different body parts wear out.

Bad first impression so far. They don’t bother to answer emails. After emailing twice over 3 days I finally had to physically go to their Hickam location. Even then, they didn’t have what I needed. Another thing that bothered me was that the young man at the counter was playing some offensive rap music. Not blasting it but loud enough for me to hear every «f» and «N» word. Seriously? It’s the middle of the day at the BX court yard with families and kids all around. At least he turned it off… eventually.
Also, they advertise themselves to be a Brompton dealer but they don’t sell Bromptons or Brompton parts. The owner John explained they’re still working up to becoming an actual Brompton dealer.
In the end, I left and found what I needed at my favorite LBS: Eki Cyclery.
Nice, friendly people but could stand to tighten up the ship a little. I’ll give them another chance next time. Support local! I wish them the best.

Good guys to work with. Small shop but enough bikes to choose from. You can even just rent a bike for a day if you want. I bought the Stromer ST1 and my work commute from Ewa Beach to Sand Island is so much easier now.
They don’t like to answer emails though! I’ve probably sent like 3 or 4 total I think and not one had a reply. I eventually have to call or show up in person.

Excellent customer service! Roy was SUPER helpful and hooked me up with an awesome deal on an e-​bike. Since I am a poor college student I can’t drop $ 4k on a top of the line bike, but for the same money I could’ve spent on a moped, which I would still have to maintain fill with gas and repair often, I was able to get a sweet converted bike with just as much power, if not more. He’s was very accommodating let me test ride the bike several times and worked with my budget. I am over all pleased with my life on the e-​bike. I zip around town with ease. I never worry about traffic or parking, AND I can put my e bike on the bus for rainy days or longer commutes. Overall I’m happy with my decision and would highly recommend e bikes Hawaii for all your transportation needs!

My fiancée and I rented E-​Bikes for half a day and had an amazing experience! Roy was very professional, friendly and helpful, going out of his way to share local knowledge and suggestions for where to go.
We ended up biking around Diamond Head, where there were some pretty spectacular views despite a bit of a grey day weather-​wise. On Roy’s recommendation, we then biked to Your Kitchen for amazing Japanese food and shaved ice. This was definitely something we never would have found on our own, and the e-​bikes made it easy to get there. It was interested to bike around some of the residential neighborhoods of Honolulu to get a feel for what it would be like to live here as a local.
As for the bikes, they were very easy to use because of the integrated pedal assist style. Rather than having to deal with a separate throttle, it simply makes pedaling easier and faster. That was much appreciated when going uphill! Even though it was our first time on electric bikes, we were comfortable riding right away, and felt like pros by the end of the few hours.
The shop is a bit of a walk from the main Waikiki tourist/​hotel area, but certainly close enough to be worthwhile. I’m guessing that a short bus ride or taxi could get you there, but the walk was pleasant enough. You can either walk along the high-​end shops or along the canal that borders the golf course. Then the shop is just around the corner.
Overall, this was a great introduction to electric bikes and a unique way to cover a lot of ground in Honolulu without breaking too much of a sweat!

I went to the Hickham AFB shop and test rode several of the E-​bikes, what a great commuter concept and go green idea in saving money on fuel cost. The beauty of these bikes is that fact that you don’t arrive at work all sweaty. These things are huge in Europe and mainland, and have been in Europe for years. With the traffic suck that it has been lately, these bikes are the way to go! John and another of his employees were super knowledgeable and helpful in my purchase. Thanks Guys!

UPDATE:
Although I was truly done and over the entire situation I went into the store today to pay off my first bike. I happened to run into John and he and my husband, who was with me this time, both managed to talk me into voicing my negotiations one more time. I was more ready to pay and leave but they both seemed to want good blood between us rather than bad. To my surprise and confusion John agreed ed to and closed the original deal with me and I unexpectedly walked out owning my own ebike! I’m not sure what happened with everything the first time. But they are good guys, nice and knowledgeable.
Get any deals they make with you in writing, They Do Not Keep Their Word.
I have been dealing with Ebikes Hawaii for a few weeks now. When I first when in everyone was nice and informative. I got my hubby a bike for a gift and that went without issue. It was at this time that Roy and I struck a deal for me to purchase my own ebike. My bike was ordered in their next shipment and is now on its way to the island. During discussions with John it was made clear to me that they wanted me to put down a certain amount tor me to claim my bike. (The specific amount was named by John the owner and I agreed.) When i went by to pay that amount however, Roy, while knowledgeable and friendly, was clearly anxious and nervous to deal with me. He stated that he had gotten in trouble with his father for the deal he had struck with me and could no longer keep that deal. After some time trying to work with him I finally said okay i just want to put my hold amount down on the bike. Now, Roy began the transaction but after swiping my card he canceled the transaction. I was instructed to just come back when John was there. I was not happy but understood that he had made a deal that he got in trouble for and came back to speak with John. This was a mistake and waste of my time. When I went to talk to John I found that again the price that I was meant to pay was increased yet again. (a total of 3 price increases). This was my last attempt to purchase from them.
When i talked to my husband about all of this he stated that it sounded like they were trying to take advantage of my because I had made it clear that i wanted the bike. He also speculated that this may have been a situation like at the car mechanic, where they take advantage of women who come alone. (Speculation, yes) but the lesson here… Get any deal they make with you in writing. They do not keep their word.

First, a great product. I had been looking for an electric bike to replace my current folding bike (Dahon Speed 7). Considered an electric upgrade kit but these are expensive and you end up with an add-​on. The solution: the A2B Kuo. EBikes Hawaii is great: they spent a lot of time answering all my questions and let me test ride the bike, then ask more questions and offered another test ride. The price is a bit higher than on the mainland, but as we know shipping here is high. This store stands behind its products and really went the extra mile to help me make a wise purchase choice.
BTW, for some weird reason there are at least a couple of good reviews that are not displayed – this doesn’t seem fair.

I was cruising in Kaimuki the other day and happened by the new ebikes hawaii store and went in. To my surprise the these ebikes (electric Bicycle) are insane. The gentleman that helped me (Roy) was very informative and let me take a ride on one. I was very impressed with the a2b line and decided to go back and buy it yesterday. Definitely stoked on my purchase, I love not peddling up the backside of Diamondhead now. The electric bikes are definitely the future if you have a chance checkum out or ask me if you see me riding around town. Tell them Steve sent ya Aloha.
