This is SOOOO much better than just about any Waikiki restaurant and I HIGHLY recommend a visit. It is a family run restaurant, with Duc, the patriarch, his wife, and his son welcoming us into their«living room» for delicacies they clearly take full pride in. We had the Foie Gras, truffle pâté, a red snapper dish, and chicken yellow curry, and two amazing desserts(ginger on vanilla ice cream, and a tapioca dessert with bananas and coconut and other flavors)… The wine list is simple, good and a good value to enjoy with your meal. We will be back every time we visit Honolulu!

Duc’s is one of our favorite places in Honolulu — very easy to reach by bus, also. Tonight, the raw oysters were perfect, plump and sweet. The roasted eggplant was the essence of eggplant. Our entrees, fish and chicken dishes, were wonderfully spiced, as was the saffron rice. The tapioca dessert was as good as ever. Prices are very reasonable.

Great place! They validate your parking if you park across the street for the place. Great food with wonderful service. Would differential recommend to anyone looking for a tasty dinner.

Great place for a nice dinner. We were warmly greeted when we arrived. Ordered the Butter Lettuce to start and sour dough bread to start. And the Chicken curry and Vietnamese spinach for the entrée. Everything was delicious and tasty. They make different desserts everyday and luckily we got to try a chocolate mousse cake with vanilla sauce. Good service and excellent food.

To be able to eat and HEAR your dining companions is a huge plus about this small restaurant. It’s been 3 years since my last review but we came for dinner last night and I continue to love it. Everything was delicious — long beans, green papaya salad, duck, chicken curry, lamb tofu, and steak(Duc’s recommendation). Even the desserts– Crème brûlée and tapioca pudding! Highly recommend them both. Can’t go wrong with a hard working owner who cares enough about the food he serves!

THEBEST place for quaint and quiet meal with custom menu options and amazing cocktails… a diamond in the rough but make reservations! The fusion cuisine is something I have never experienced until I went to Duc’s and if I can mind my manners and not act like a wild animal then I will be back lol. I tried a cocktail and if I remember correctly it was a ginger martini which was a great flavor complement to my meal. The curry was fabulous and I really love seeing Duc there. He truly cares about the experience of his guests and is very hospitable and accommodating. I really felt welcomed even though I am basically a feral cat and can barely mind my manners at Taco Bell LOL I was able to contain my bad behavior long enough to enjoy an amazingly wonderful time– all encompassing– at Duc’s Bistro.

Came for lunch, and it was pricey, but had a super meal. We both ordered fish dishes and split them. The winner was the pan fried fish, moist, succulent. Also had the green beans and saffron rice. The green beans were very good for green beans, but they were… green. I guess you can tell I still can hear my mother whispering to me «eat your green beans.»

Love this Vietnamese/French restaurant. The owner and his son couldn’t be more gracious-they remembered my name my second time there. The food is a fantastic fusion of Vietnamese and French at very reasonable prices. The venison tartare was my personal favorite on my visits so far.

Fantastic! An upscale French Vietnamese cuisine served with style and flair. We were seated right away and the owner came during the meal to check on us. It was delicious. Everything was absolutely delicious!

One of my favorite restaurants with great food and probably one the best bars on the Island. Everything in the menu is good, their bar is one of my favorite places to hang out. Love Duc, Minya and family and the staff. If you have never been to Duc’s then what are you waiting for?

I took a party of 5 here for my birthday dinner. We were greeted at the door by the manager and immediately seated in the back of the restaurant. The waiter was helpful and accommodating, providing recommendations and all the specials. It is family style/ala carte dining, so be prepared to spend a little on several dishes. Everything we ordered was delicious. My stand out favorites were the grand marnier duck and pan-fried fish with ginger sauce. I also had the iced mint tea, perfectly sweet. Definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or date night!

Beyond fabulous! Duc & his lovely wife have been turning out exquisite French and Vietnamese delights for decades. It is a special place tucked away on Maunukea St. Wonderful atmosphere. Terrific food always and something us locals hold dear.

It’s an upscale Vietnamese restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere that doesn’t have the typical phở or banh mi sandwiches. It wasn’t crowded when I went and I was seated right away. The service was very professional. We had Mousse of Black Truffle Duck Paté and chicken curry to share between two people. The quantity was just right and appetizing. I would consider coming back on a special occasion.

This place is wonderful… It’s not your typical restaurant. The lighting and music sets a great mood. The staff is wonderful as well. The bistro is a family run establishment. I would recommend making reservations, though if you don’t have any they will still accommodate you. If there was anything to complain about it would be the that the items on the menu are all separate. They are to be shared family style which also added to the mood and specialness of the bistro. I had a great time and so did my date. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice evening out.

Family style eatting works here because you can order many items and everyone can try. We had 4 adults in our party. The staff is super friendly. They let you know what others have order and they also recommend items for the party size. They know every detail of each item on the menu. If you ask how its cooked and with what ingredients, im pretty sure they could explain that to you. There was also live music that came in and played lovely music. Its a hole in the wall but very nice place to eat with family amd friends.

Great papaya salad and followed by crab cake and asparagus. They were fantastic. I always enjoy this place as we feel home and the owner is very friendly. Only sad part was the main dish. The lamb was over done and the duck grand mariner was tough and both had no taste. Very very westerly as I suspect the meat was frozen. Rushed to defrost to cook. The owner felt bad and provided us coffee Fran

Parking ~ across the street, restaurant will give you parking pass I always walk in, have never made reservations. Food ~ as good as you can get/find in hawaii for that type of Vietnamese fusion. The deserts are meh ! Service ~ prompt, efficient. Cost ~ you get what you pay for. Good value!

Took a long time friend/old client out for his birthday and he chose this location because he’s a regular. The owners son is back home to help with the business. I hear they’ve changed up the menu a bit, so I had him order our food I ordered the wine. I picked a bottle of Pinot Noir from France, which I knew would go well with what he chose, Banana Flower salad with shrimp(have the hot sauce on the side, VERY hot — I’m warning you lol), Beef Tartar and Foie Gras. First time eating foie gras, fricken ONO and very rich but melts in your mouth. And I always make room for desserts! We shared the fresh Tapioca and chocolate cake. Yummy:-) Very nice and cute interior. Make sure to view the various portraits in the restaurant. Some were very heart warming, specially the candid pix.

I don’t know how much French influence this place has, but the Vietnamese flavors are great! The staff was very Friendly, the food was delish, and the ambience was wonderful for dinner out. Great date night place in the downtown area. We tried the prawns, green beans, the Saigon beef, the veggie curry, and the fish of the day. All came out family style, and were perfectly portioned. I will definitely come back when I’m in the area and want a good moderately priced meal.

My brother-in-law took my husband and me here a couple years ago when we were visiting Hawaii. We really enjoyed it so we came back again with my family this time. All dishes are served family-style which is nice, so that we can try different things. I enjoyed the duck, the Saigon beef, the lemongrass chicken, and Coffee custard the most. The duck was very tender and didn’t have any smell of the duck. We also ordered foie gras. I was so excited since we no longer could order this in California. It was good but I wish it was little more flavorful. I don’t know why but I really like this place. Yes, Crustacean in Beverly Hills is more beautiful. Yes, most of the Vietnamese restaurants in San Gabriel Valley are more reasonable. But something about this restaurant makes me feel comfortable. I would definitely come back here when I visit Hawaii again.
