I found a ROACH in my breakfast plate… then a month later… I got food poisoning after eating here!!! I was spewing out from both ends for 3 days! This place is HORRIBLE!!! Cleanliness is absent… not sure how they got a green PASS from Dept of Health!

Dole Cannery BBQ Compared to Costco– this place is expensive. Compared to normal fast Chinese/Korean/plate lunch it is cheaper than most. For breakfast– before Costco is even open — it is about the best within walking distance, including Zippy’s. Form runny eggs to great Portuguese sausage to loco moco to more lunch time menus fast food of Bentos, Korean BBQ and normal Chinese food. No spam mushibi which surprises me. But you can get rice and spam, when I have with me those that are special needs and want either mushibi or hamburger patties separate from the rice they are more than happy to give the boys separate plates for the things so that they are not upset. The nice thing is that the bentos are on sale half price at about 4 pm in the weekdays. They are just on the counter so you pick which you want and then pay at the cashier. Parking is by Costco. There is plenty of tables to sit at — as almost no one is ever there to eat except during lunch or during Sat. gaming challenges. Hard to go wrong with a nice beef plate lunch or the classic Hawaiian plate lunch of loco moco. Still pretty good.

Since the most recent review of this place is from a couple years ago and here we are in 2015… it’s a good place to eat. The owner hired a new cook since 2013 so the food is a lot better. I especially like the mandoo noodle soup and the kalbi.

Ate here for the first time, ordered the port. sausage, eggs and rice. The portion of 6 sausages cut so thinly, with 1 scrabbled egg was thrown over a huge scoop of rice, The pancakes were burnt. This place has no customer service and no quality of there food. You have to be desperate to eat at this place. Plus they won’t validate the parking ticket. We got charged for parking when the shop we wanted to shop at was closed due to the Iselle.

Best thing is the banchan, and that’s pretty sad to say. I work in the area so I always see coworkers bring back plate lunches from here. Because I am in love with banchan, I was excited to try here. This is always a problem for me, but I’m always more excited about what I’m going to choose for banchan than I am about what the entrée will be. After some contemplating, I decide on the teriyaki chicken plate which I figured should be pretty hard to screw up. WRONG. I don’t know what kind of sauce they use, but the teri chicken was covered in a ridiculously sweet sauce(almost like syrup). ICKKK. And because they used so much sauce, it soaked through to my rice! To even be able to stomach it, I was forced to scrape off as much of the sauce as I could to eat the chicken, but the rice was pretty disgusting and a total waste. I don’t know how they can even serve a dish like this! TERICHICKENPLATE — My friend had the spicy chicken which was pieces of chicken stir fried with some onions in kokujin sauce. The taste was mildly better, but didn’t come with much. Most of the plates, including mine and his, were $ 7.( ) The banchan was my favorite part of the meal, by far. There was a good selection to choose from, and you get three with each plate lunch. Taste was standard, but I’ve had better, fresher banchan elsewhere.

REASONFORGOING: There are very limited options at Dole Cannery for those that work in the building, I was craving soup since my office is an igloo! I also would like to precede this review by mentioning that I SERVICE: This is a mom and pop restaurants run by first generation Koreans. They are very blunt and because English is their second language, I can be forgiving about their service to a certain degree. When I went to pay for my meal, the sign says $ 6.69. I handed them $ 7.00 and then, the owner closed his register. I asked him if there was change and he simply said no, then i asked the wife, and she said«Tax». Okay this makes sense that tax needs to be added to the meal but because of the poor communication and delivery, it really makes me NEVER want to eat here again. I dont need to support a local business that treats me like that. I felt so ripped off(i guess this is my Chinese side speaking). SELECTION + PRICE: There is a large variety of Korean dishes along with a breakfast menu that is available all day. This is the second time I have been here with a bad experience. The first time I had the bi bim bap and the meat was so oily, I took one bite and I threw all the meat away. It was a poor grade of meat and the oil seeped onto all my rice and veggies. I honestly did not think this place was that bad. I ordered the mandoo noodle soup bowl and the noodles were okay and the mandoo was obviously sitting there for a while as they were soggy and when I tried to pick it up to eat, it broke apart. I am very disappointed as I do NOT like to be negative or give poor reviews. Just be aware. VALUE: I would never go back here even though my options are limited, there are other vendors that are nicer AND don’t make you feel like you are getting ripped off. Another option is that EAT Café is right down the street!

I love their tofu soup. I could eat it every single day. When I come here for meetings around lunch time, I make sure to stop by this place and order their tofu soup. It comes with rice and 3 choices of sides. The heat(spice) factor from the soup is just right. The soup could use larger pieces of tofu and vegetables. But I usually put my side choices into the soup anyway.

Recently visited this new Korean take-out in Dole Cannery. They’re located in the main lobby on the ground floor, unlike the rest of the restaurants(including McDonald’s, Subway and Mia’s) which are all located on the second floor in the food court. Tried the Bi Bim Bap, Bulgolgi and Tofu Soup. The korean style marinaded beef is very tender and tasty. The banchan sides are pretty good although not the best in town. Portions are decent for the price. Especially the Tofu soup, which includes a huge bowl of soup, 3 choices of banchan and a generous helping or white rice. The Tofu soup tastes like a combination of Miso and Kochujang. Don’t order the SPICY unless you like it REALLYHOT. The soup is vegetarian, containing no meat, but does have generous portions of cubed tofu, sliced celery, carrots, green onion and won bok cabbage. Next we’ll have to try the benchmark of every Korean restaurant, their Kal Bi!
