Parking: street parking or small lot The cost: $ 20/person The food: kimchee fried rice, miso ribeye, kalbi kimchee bao, poutine, dynamite chicken Restrooms: yes This place is strange. I will start with that. We came on a weekend and they offered us a table that was reserved for an hour later so we figured we could at least sit while they worked on getting another table for us. Which they said would be available shortly. The place is initially a restaurant that has some nice areas including some booth seating near the entrance and some divey areas like the darts section and the nonexistent bar. When it goes past 9pm, the place turns into a bar/sportsbar/club? The whole thing is very confusing. You have people there dressed like they’re at a club and others with their football jerseys. I think this place may have multiple identity disorder. In any case the food is also a bit of a hit or miss. The kimchee fried rice was pretty standard, the kalbi kimchee bao was dry with not enough meat, the dynamite chicken and miso ribeye were excellent. The poutine absolutely sucks! I’m sorry but you cannot make poutine with store bought cheese. It’s made of cheese curd. But I did think some of their cocktails were decent. So an hour after we had sat down the place still did not have a seat for us! Despite seeing multiple parties come and go. I suppose they saw us sit and someone had just stopped trying to find us seats. In all cases, the organization at this place is much to be desired. Overall, a bit confused. Come if you want something random to do on a friday night.

Yay for PWK’s!!! and the food is good too, especially for the price. I definitely will come back to dash. We always have fun here. The workers are very friendly and helpful. Order the Steak Fries and the Korean chicken… But the steak fries are like crack!!! beware you will order more than one of these!

THISISNOT A GASTROPUB.(caps were needed) If you’re looking for a gastropub, walk around the corner and go to Pint + Jigger. Now that I’ve got that out of the way… it’s really just a local bar. The food is okay, the drinks are okay. There’s not a lot on tap, there’s not even a menu that tells you or servers who know, what food goes with what alcohol. They have dart boards, booths, interestingly colored shots. There’s a million of these places, it’s not special, but it doesn’t mean you can’t go there and have a good time. Just know, you’re not going to a gastropub. You’re going to a local bar.

My boyfriend and I made a last minute decision to stop by here on a Friday evening after work to meet some friends. We parked in their lot, which is valet for $ 5. We should have found parking across the street, it’s free! Walking in to DASH, I glanced around to see a few tables occupied and a ton of tables labeled«reserved» from 8:00PM and on. The servers were a bit hesitant to seat us because the original party of 2 grew to 5. She sat us at one of the reserved tables and told us we could use it till about 8:00, but we have to leave. I honestly found that very rude. They would probably have better business if they didn’t reserved almost all the tables. While my friends ordered their drinks, I settled on water. They returned 10 minutes later with my friends drinks, but not with my water! I had to wait another 5 minutes! It was a bit ridiculous. In the end we ordered the kalbi and DASH burger. The kalbi came with ban chan(side dishes) and it was okay. My boyfriend practically swallowed the whole burger because he enjoyed it so much. Overall, it was an alright experience. Food was okay, but service could be much better.

When I first wrote my review for them, they just opened and they were aiming for a gastropub but now 2 almost 3 years later, a lot has changed. They’ve done some refining on their menu, did away with some things(fried calamari, kettle chips, some salads, etc.) but my favorites are still there and still great as ever. My essentials: Paniolo Pork and order it with the OG sauce(patis-based) Tofu or the BLT Salad Salmon Crudo Mushroom Pork Oysters(they’ve changed it to spoons instead of in the shell, still flavorful and not as messy) Agedashi Tofu pretty much everything on the menu… Always be sure to try out their food specials. Never disappoints. Although they do have their own renditions of bar food classics, they offer a lot more fish and vegetable alternatives which is great for when you don’t want to eat something so heavy. For a long time I was just drinking Red Bull Vodka but I was introduced to this new combo called Lunchbox which is Blue Moon, OJ and I think some cherry-based liquor(maybe grenadine?) and it’s amazing if you like citrusy drinks. Always call ahead to make reservations that way you can have a table. Fridays and Saturdays are always packed! We’ve also used them to cater our parties and what they’ve come up with has always been delicious. Dash is my neighborhood bar. Sometimes I wonder why I eat anywhere else when I’m happy just coming over here, seeing familiar faces, enjoying great company and eating good food.

Let me first explain this would be my second time eating at Dash Gastropub. The first time was with my Hot Import Nights family last year in December 2013. We were celebrating a great HIN Honolulu event at the Blaisdell Exhibition Center that occurred a couple of nights before. We all had a great time at Dash, and from what I remember, the food was phenomenal! Dash Gastropub is located on the corner of McCully Street & Young Street. Their parking lot out in front was reserved for valet parking only. I’m not sure if they just do that for the weekends, but I decided to valet since it was only $ 5. Otherwise, there’s metered parking along the street, which is free on the weekends. As soon as we walk in, I noticed a giant industrial fan right by the door. Apparently, their centralized air conditioning wasn’t working, so they were running a bunch of fans and portable A/C units to try to keep the place cool. We asked to be seated, but the waitress said that most of the tables have been previously reserved. I guess it’s really difficult to just walk in on a weekend without calling in beforehand. Despite not having a reservation, they were still able to seat us. The only tables that were available were the two tall bar tables by the dart machines. We didn’t mind at all because we were sitting right next to an A/C unit. SCORE! LOL We started off with a beer that neither of us has tried before, Fox Barrel Pacific Pear Cider. I’m not a big beer drinker, especially when I’m eating because beer tends to overpower my palate to the point where it alters my taste of the food. But the Pacific Pear Cider is more like an ale, and it’s really light and delicious. INSTANTLY A FAN! We decided to order a couple of things on the menu… Miso Rib Eye: Seared USDA Choice rib eye cubed pupu-style and miso glazed topped with thin pickled onions, citrus oroshi, bubu arare, and kizami nori. Poutine: Steak Fries topped with gravy, cheese, fried garlic, and bacon bits. The Miso Rib Eye was absolutely delicious! I loved everything about this dish. The Poutine was addicting… I couldn’t stop eating it! We were trying to guess what kind of gravy they used, but couldn’t figure it out. Dash is a gastropub, so it has more of a bar feel to it than a restaurant. The place is dimly lit, and they have 4 electronic dart boards in the back. And despite the $ 5 parking, the A/C not working, and almost next to impossible to walk into the place on a weekend without reservations… They no doubt succeed most in providing such amazing food here!

love their food, esp their original dynamite chicken! they have some specialty drinks of their own but wish they had more of them. I don’t usually like mojitos cause of the mint leaves but their ume mojito is good. also, not a tequila fan but their pwk drinks/shots are soooo good! def have to try! their prices aren’t bad either. esp for the food, you get a good size portion for the cost so that’s a plus. the staff is also very friendly & pretty fast service. they have a $ 20 limit if you wanna run card, but coming here that’s pretty easy to get. but they don’t seem to have tax cause my bill always seems to come out even! though only getting a 4.5 cause parking sucks esp when it’s crowded b/c you have to find st parking, or pay to park it in their tiny lot. & also when it’s weekends it gets so crowded & just such a small space. wish they’d expand. but overall a gastropub worth it!

My friends & I have been wanting to try this place out for a while now, and we finally had the chance tonight. We went there around 7 and it was kinda slow so we just sat ourselves at an open table. We were greeted by a server that seemed friendly at the beginning… she was a local japanese/filipino girl by the way. It took us some time to figure out what we wanted to order since it was our first time there. One big negative aspect about this place is that they are very limited in their drinks. It’s supposed to be a gastropub & yet they only have a small variety. Let’s move on to the food and drinks. Yukari chicken w/green tea waffles: This dish was absolutely amazing. The combination with the syrup and chicken was just delicious. My favorite of the night! Kimchee fried rice: The portion for this dish was huge and the 3 of us couldn’t even finish it. It was yummy but nothing special. Oysters: DEFINITENO! Disappointment! We expected half dozen oysters on half shells because that’s what my friend & I read on the menu. But as it arrived it came in little spoons & only had 5 pieces. We rechecked the menu & it was crossed off. Basically, all of us were looking at different menus. If you’re going to change the menu then make sure all of them are the same. Later on the night, my friend told me that they got 6 oysters when they visited couple weeks ago. So, that means they ripped us off. Red Gummy Bear: This drink was very fruity and sweet but nothing special as well. They also carded us twice to double check I guess. Even after our server checked us once, another guy approached us. I’m assuming that he suspected us of not being of age, but I was fine with that since they’re just doing their job. In addition to all of the many disappointments of the night, our«lovely» server proceeded to give us our bill after all our dishes arrived. However, we did not ask for it so we felt like she was trying to rush us out. That was ridiculous because the other 2 tables around us that was there before we arrived didn’t even get their checks yet. She was obviously hinting to us to leave as soon as we finished our food. Well, we sat there for another hour or so just talking whether she liked it or not. By the time we left, the place was still slow. The service is definitely lacking in this place. I will never visit this establishment again. Their dishonesty & horrible service just ruins everything.

I’m still pretty impartial with this place. I do think the food is tasty and amazing. Had the kim chee fried rice which was broke the mouth. The portions are pretty generous. I did love the ume sake mojito. Damn the thing is sweet, but if you like ume candy, you’ll love this! I do however thing the set up and furniture is a bit awkward. There’s so much space but the flow of it doesn’t feel right. That’s just me. The service here is average as well. They people seemed good when it was empty but when it’s somewhat busy they never come back to the table. I’m pretty tough since I work in food industry, but I’m not so sold on the service as of yet. I think I had more conversation with the cute food runner who just started last week than the servers who’ve been there for awhile.

THE. BEST. KETTLE. CHIPS. EVER. ARE. BACK.(!!!) Dash Gastropub is known for its delicious menu of crowd favorite Original Dynamite Chicken, Kimchee Fried Rice, and Ume-Chiso Mojitos, but the best part of Dash is their homemade kettle chips! Thin, crispy, crunchy, salty, and addictive, these kettle chips are my food soulmate — the food that not only nourishes my body, but feeds my soul! Am I being overly dramatic? Probably… but these chips are still damn AMAZING! Not too long ago, I noticed the kettle chips had disappeared from the menu. On the verge of tears, I asked if I could still order them, but was informed that I needed to order a burger to get the chips. No one would eat the burger for me(I have the cruelest friends, I know), so I left chips-less and sad. I mean really sad. Really really really sad. I went through all 5 stages of grief: –Denial: «They wouldn’t get rid of the kettle chips. They just wouldn’t!» –Anger: «WHATDOYOUMEAN I CAN’T ORDERJUSTKETTLECHIPS?! WHATDOYOUMEAN I NEEDTOORDERTHEBURGER?! –Bargaining(To My Friends): «Someone eat the burger! Somebody! Anybody!» –Depression: *Uncontrollable Sobbing* –Acceptance(To My Friends): «Let’s go to Dash! Maybe they brought the kettle chips back. What do you mean I need to get over it already?!» Okay… so I never accepted the loss of my beloved Kettle Chips. And for good reason! On my last visit, I asked if I could order the kettle chips(like I always do), expecting to have to order a burger. To my surprise, the waitress didn’t mention any burger and brought the kettle chips out right away. As she set the cone of homemade kettle chips before me, I swear I heard the soulful croons of Peaches and Herb singing«Reunited» in the background. It was the BEST. DAY. EVER. Needless to say, I’ll be back soon for those kettle chips!

I finally made it over to Dash and I must say the food was pretty good. The food is good, they play fun music and they seem to have a pretty good crowd. We went on a Friday night and it was pretty busy. The parking situation kind of sucks because they have a tiny lot that fills fast, which leaves you the option to valet or find street parking nearby. We opted to look on King street and we got lucky to find a spot nearby. It is a darkly-lit spot with a bar, a section to play darts and a few tables throughout. They seem to have a section that is under construction the middle of the restaurant. I’m hoping they add more seating there. We ran into a kind of strange situation because we arrived and found a couple of empty tables to sit at. The waitress warned us that one of the tables was reserved and we could only sit there until the party arrived… which was about 1.5 hours after we arrived. This means that they were holding a table for a party who didn’t arrive until way too long after us. That is kind of a waste in my opinion. More of us would have ordered food if we had a table to sit. Plus it is annoying for guests when you tell them a table is reserved and people don’t arrive until much later. Another kind of funny thing that happened was our server was asking us to pay for things as we went, instead of keeping a tab for people. My buddy ordered a coke, and the waiter asked him to pay right away. He didn’t even take a sip before being asked for cash. Kind of strange but I guess that helps him keep track of the tabs. Table and service issues aside, the food that I tasted was pretty good. We had the kalbi, the poutine, dash edamame and loco moco. Everything was tasty and had good flavor. We had a nice time and would come back here again to try some other items.

Went here for dinner on a Saturday. Parked across the street at the CPB pay lot – there is only that, street, and valet – around 6:30pm. Crowd was sparse and mellow at the time, although the crowds get larger(and the skirts get shorter) the later in the evening you go. Had the cheesy tots off the daily special menu, garlic bacon fried rice, and furikake chicken. About $ 10 each, all good stuff. I liked the caramelized onion and tsukemono in the fried rice, but this was more of an issue for some of my friends who don’t dig that stuff. Draft selections are limited and the general selection wasn’t too impressive, but this is a good place to hang out and get your eat and drink on.

It’s ok. I don’t like that the whole parking lot is valet only… especially since when I went it was super slow and only a few tables were filled. I parked around the corner to avoid having the pay for parking. Also, minus points because I’m a martini girl and they don’t even have vermouth. Like, seriously? At a bar? You can’t make a proper martini without vermouth. Jus’ sayin. The main reason why I am giving them only 2 stars is that I ordered the salmon crudo(raw dish), and waited FOREVER to get my food. Two guys on each side of me came in after me and ordered a burger and a steak– they got their food first. I had to ask twice where my salmon was. I really dislike when that happens. That being said, the service was SUPER friendly. They apologized and it seemed sincere. Funnily enough, probably the best part of my experience there was the music they played! Lykke Li and Thievery Corporation. Super cool. I was jammin! Also, the menu is nice to peruse– interesting selection and reasonable prices. The garlic fried rice is bomb and I will probably go back to give this place one more try at some point!

I’ve been here more than twice now and feel I can accurately give my opinion. So what the eff is a gastropub? A quick google brings us to a wiki page: «Gastropub or gastrolounge refers to a bar and restaurant that serves high-end beer and food.» Now I agree that on my visits, I enjoy their food. However, I disagree on the high-end beer or drinks. Have you ever had food so good that you had to punch or kick a door? Neither have I but somebody must have. Food so good you want to rip the poster off the wall. The same poster that was glued on well? Perhaps. If punches and kicks were measures of high-end beer and food then this place is the bee’s knees.

Ok let it be known for us it is a place to get a drink at a place that is nearby that we can walk to where we don’t have to deal with lots of noise, hostess bar situations, overly drunken people, crowds(at least during the weekdays), basically get a drink or so and talk story. To be honest we’ve tried very little of the food here but what we have tried has been pretty decent for instance our standard fare is the Poutine(we ask for the fries to be extra crispy) which are good, the 1 lb of sizzling Kalbi is decently tasty, we once asked for Kim Chee which they also happily brought out to us a complementary long tray with several kinds of ban chan, cool! Although they don’t seem to have a large selection of Beers on tap or in bottles it is sufficient enough. The interior is quite spacious and it is usually quite cool inside more so than many places(or maybe because we are there when it is quite empty) As a Gastropub I would say it is about the same as your better bars around town and not what you would really think a Gastropub should be. Why three stars? Well for me there isn’t something outstanding here except for us convenient at a decent price the service has been pretty good but then again there aren’t a whole lot of people to serve when we are there.

I’ve come to really like Dash for both the food and the drinks. Now, be wary before coming here. The word ‘gastropub’ stirs up certain expectations of an establishment, right? Gastropubs, in my opinion, serve delicious food along side a wide and interesting selection of beers. Dash has the former part down, but is a little lacking in the latter. The beer selection is not as extensive as I would have liked to see the numerous times that I’ve come here. I’m all about trying new and different types of beers, but alas not much going on in that department here. I have, however, tried the Hoptimum? which is a very high % alcohol for a beer. Any hoppy lovers out there should give it a shot one night. Now, onto the delicious food! It’s pretty darn great here. My personal favorites are the fried rice, garlic chicken and the kettle potato chips. All of those are pretty darn delicious. Trust me, you will have to be rolled out of there, especially after a couple of drinks too. Dash is also just a great place to hang out. They have large booths that can accommodate larger groups. There are a few dart boards and there are weekly/nightly specials on beers/drinks. The only gripe I have about this place is the parking. BOOOO. They have a valet lot, but c’mon now. let’s be real. Street parking is really hard to come by. Central Pacific Bank, however, has a pay lot that you can utilize which is what I usually end up doing.

Parking: The parking is small but if you get lucky you end up with a stall. If there is valet there it’s even better. Less stress to look for parking. Food: Let me tell you this food here is so good. Every thing I tried was good. Duck fat fries, tofu, poke and the list goes on. Drinks: Ume my favorite and this is what I drink all the time. I was in love with the red gummy bear at first but I changed my mind and fell in love with ume instead. PWK shots are really good. Service: They are friendly and on top of it. That bartender K? He’s really good and easy to talk to. I will definetly be going back for the good food and drinks

I’m wavering between 2 and 3 stars. I wish I could give them 1 star for the parking situation. They have a small parking lot but they’ve decided to turn it into a valet only lot for $ 4 + tip. The parking lot is so small that the valet guy doesn’t even bring you your car! That’s janky if you ask me. What we ordered: Ume shiso mojitos — delicious. But did this drink even have any alcohol in it? I’m a feather lightweight and my asian glow didn’t even kick in. Not sure this drink is worth the«cocktail» price if it only had a splash of alcohol in it. BLT salad — very forgettable. Why did this cost $ 12? Bacon garlic fried rice — Good. But not as good as the fried rice from Side Street Inn. Hamachi crudo — 5 pieces. I liked this dish, especially the ponzu sauce. Chicken and green tea waffles — I was surprised that the green tea waffles tasted so strongly of green tea(I liked it!). I liked this dish but it’s not something that I’d ever crave to have again. Overall, this place is just OK. Nothing special, nothing memorable. I’d much rather go to Home Bar & Grill or Side Street Inn for local kine bar grindz.

Located on the corner of McCully and Young, the old American Savings Bank turned into a «gastropub». The ambiance is casual-dressy. There is a lounge section, booths, and bar. Dark lighting. A few large screen tv’s. Fake cherry blossoms plants decorates the space. Parking is within that small lot. Alternative parking would be on the street. Service was fast and friendly. The beer selection wasn’t impressive. As for the food(2 out of 5 stars). Only two dishes were ordered: 1. Butter fried mochi $ 9 mochi sauteed in butter until gold brown topped with honey ume and garlic sauce. — I couldn’t distinguish the flavor, but it was salty. 2. Original Dynamite Chicken $ 12 Boneless fried chicken bites with sweet chili and firecracker sauce. — deep fried chicken and the sauce is drizzled over and not coated. Maybe my friends and I ordered the wrong things. We weren’t that hungry, so we didn’t try anything else. From what we’ve ordered, we didn’t want to invest anymore into this place. We wrapped up our billed and left. Not sure if I’ll return again.
