There’s not many internet cafes these days thanks to the advancement of technology(like the smartphone, iPhone, etc.), but I needed to check my e-mail and surf the web for a few minutes, so I happened to stumble upon Da Internet Café on Kuhio Avenue. There are three desktop computers that seem to work fine(no log-in required). $ 5 for 30 minutes wasn’t too bad considering this is Waikiki, after all.

They have 3 desktops that usually work and they don’t like to let you use the wifi because they have to log you in and out. The place is nasty but what do you want? The Taj Mahal?(it’s just small and full of junk and hanger outs. Like your dad’s garage. In other words, not a Starbucks or café even. But they can hook you up with needed services and have long hours.) It’s 50 cents per printed page(average price around here) and well, that’s about it. They can sell you a tethering card(prepaid tethering your phone to PC) but I heard them tell a German girl it would be $ 120 /month to get her own internet service at her apt, in order to sell her a tethering card. It’s not $ 120…it’s starts at about $ 30 for DSL or Cable. They sell used books, too. And they have a couple X boxes you play while your there. Internet service is $ 3⁄10 min. $ 5 for ½ hr. Something like that. They can scan documents and let you print them out. It ain’t cheap but works in a pinch. Make sure you delete your documents from the thumb drive and whatever folder they’re in on the PC you use.

This is actually a very strange internet café. Two guys and a dog run it and they are continually discussiing films and video games whiile you are attempting to compose business letters. Not exactly a work friendly environment and the day I went in there was only one terminal that could be used. It would be fine for playing viedo games or shootingthe breeze I guess and it is indeed the most inexpensive place on the island.
