I figure give it a one star because it closed out of the blue. Oh well. Drag the score down.

Just heard that Brew Moon is closed. It was on KHPR this morning. R.I.P. I’ll give you 5 stars for the memories…

Sad that more and more restaurants are closing… some due to the economy, some due to just bad service. For the Brew Moon, it looks like both apply. Unfortunately, I never had a chance to try the place for one last time. My favorite meal here was the jambalaya. I also enjoyed their beer sampler even though two of the beers were not that great. It would be nice if Kona Brewery open in its place!

I truly believe there is an unwritten universal law that breweries always serve awesome food, so I have a tendency to go out of my way to seek out breweries. This was an exception to that rule. The food was okay. Nothing to rave about or write home about. Surprisingly enough, I was pretty disappointed in the beer. It just didn’t taste very good. The atmosphere was okay — modern, clean, sort of artsy. The service was okay(average by Hawaii standards). I was just really surprised that neither the food nor the beer were good enough to make me want to go back.

Boo! for nightlife! It took forever to get the dancing started. I dunno what kind of crowd it was but it wasn’t my kind of place. I like Ocean’s but they closed and are reopening as Ocean’s 808. Anyway, nice view from the balcony. but that’s about it. I tried a «green hulk»(hypnotica + hennessy) for the first time. pretty good.

Good beer + good company = good times You can’t go to a brewery and not have beer. And you definitely can’t get order a Bud Lite. But since I had no idea what kind of brews they serve, the beer sample was a good choice and a learning experience. There was one beer(forgot which one) that I definitely didn’t like, and some that were much better. For dinner I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was pretty awesome. Gotta give a shout out to my local friends who treated me. Thanks! Tips: Catch the fight/game on the TV here and throw back a couple of brewskis.

Came in to try the beers since the friends that I’m hanging out with are into beers. We got the beer taster($ 6.75) which consisted of 6 beers. I didn’t think the beers tasted that great. I do like light beers so I finished the lightest one, but the rest were *bleh*. My friends thought they were okay as well. Service was fast and friendly, but then of course there weren’t any other patrons inside around 3PM. Plenty of parking since it’s in the Ward Center.

Was trying to catch a movie at Ward and needed somewhere to eat– quick. Brew Moon? Ok. let’s try it. The service was friendly yet novice and the salmon stuffed with crab was a tasty surprise— except it was undercooked, but they took it back and cooked it for another minute and I continued to eat it. Delicious. I was surprised that they didn’t make a brand new plate– but oh well… it was quick enough. The tables need to be resurfaced– they had this lame gummy kind of feeling. Unacceptable. The staff need to be retrained. Or at least my server should have visited our table to ask how our meal was or to fill up our water glasses. She never came by at all and I had to flag her down for everything. I had to ask her to fill up our water glasses and she responded with«no problem” — of course it’s not a problem. The beer was average. But really there aren’t many restaurants near Ward so we had to try it– that salmon dish was good. If anyone is looking for a spot to open a restaurant– do it at Ward.

Here’s the key: take out. The food is great, but the service is just awful — trust me, I know several of the workers well and they all agree. I recommend the fire roasted ribs, calamari, blackened ahi, and furikake crusted opah. They have pretty good salads, gumbo, and jambalaya. I’d also get dessert else where.

If i could give this place a negative rating. I WOULD! The first time I came here, i had a wonderful experience. Fast forward a couple of years, we came here after my niece’s graduation. We had a table of 16, yeah big table. But there were only two other groups of two in the dinning area. We had the SHIETTIEST service ever. Oh and the food, was HORRIBLE. Not just mine, which was a club sandwich, but the burger was burnt [they asked for medium], pasta was COLD. Couldn’t even get a decent cup of water. I’m never going to this place EVER again. Very disappointed.

My favorite place for Pau Hana(after work) after Ocean closed down. The beer sample is one of the perk with the fried calamaries and gorgonzola pizza as my pupus(appetizers). Love the outdoor seating with the live music in the early evening. The place is very cozy, but at night they turn it like a club which tends to be overcrowded!

Come here for the beer, not the food. I received some gift certificates for Brew Moon and decided to eat lunch here with my gf. I ordered a bunch of appetizers and two main courses. Everything tasted the same! Every dish had the same fried taste to it and most of the food was warm. Dessert was bleh. 3 stars for the beer sampler.

The best item here is definitely the beer sampler, which is a good value. The food, however, is average and overpriced in my opinion(pizzas are the best deal). Despite the lure of live music, I haven’t seen the place to be very busy in several visits, which could be a good or bad thing.

I can’t help it. This place will always be awesome to me. After a chat next door at Borders, my then-budding paramour and now-husband came over here for drinks. While the beer is tasty(they have a sampler, which is very cool), we only drank wine(which they have a pretty good selection of). The outdoor patio is awesome on a starry night, the ambiance is quaint and quiet. It was a weeknight a few years ago, so I’m not sure how that’s changed. Inside, you have pretty nice TVs for games if that’s what you’re into. They did, at the time, also have pretty good food. Right before leaving the island, we stole a menu… I’m sure they have more. :)

I like their beer, but I’m the kind of guy who puts ice in his beer. I asked for ice at Brew Moon and they kind of frowned at me. My fondest memory of BM is meeting the most voluptuous haupa woman in my long life. I’ll give one star for the beer and two stars for her. I only wish I could remember her name?

New menu, much better food. Great selection of pupus(appetizers). Had the following: BBQ Shrimp = shrimp in bbq type broth sauce = very tasty Tempura ahi roll = ahi rolls fried in tempura batter = excellent Heavy Metal Nachos = not new on the menu, but always good! Very mellow place. They have live entertaiment some nights. The crowd — a wide range of people.

The chicken that I had when I first went here had too many things goin on, too many flavors. The drinks are okay but their desserts are excellent. I think that the vibe you get from this place really depends on what night you go.

It made me want to jive, whatever the hell that means… Pricey, but unique and not at all touristy. Live jazz was a plus. They have a nice beer sampler. Small(super tasty) portions, but a great intimate atmosphere.
