It was whale watching season so we snagged a couple of groupon to get some great half off deals. $ 35 bucks a person when it’s normally worth about $ 70+. Calling them or emailing them for reservations was pretty simple and painless. The captain and his crew were chill and laid back, guys in the mid to late 30’s. They had music playing throughout the entire boat ride with speaker systems. Sadly that’s all there really was. It sails out from the Ala Moana docking area and eventually bears a left turn towards diamond head. The captain did try, but we were able to see one or two whales from a far distance. I can’t say it was incredible. I guess we can’t really blame them, because they tried searching for whale by diverting the boat in various directions. So why the 4 stars? It was whale watching season, even though it wasn’t spectacular, we did see a whale or two(looked like dolphins from this far) and they offered water for free and soda for purchase $ 2. The boat ride with the crew was just chill and my husband and I were able to roam around the boat like the rest of the people on board. It was really relaxing and Dramamine was a must for me and is recommended if you are sensitive with boat rides. It was more of a 2 hour than 2.5 as promised on the advertisement. The boat was fairly clean for the most part. Bring snack and treats for yourself, because we were starving after this mellow adventure. I also recommend sun block, sunglasses and a hat. Parking is nearby the docks, at about $ 0.75 for every half an hour. If you know where the ward center theaters are, it’s just straight across from there. My husband asked and they did private charters and other activities. Just check out their website for more detailed information. Overall, we had a nice time, but if we had paid full price, I would have been pretty upset.
