Beretania Community Park, despite it’s location, is a very nice place for the local community to meet up. There is a rec center as noted by others here on Unilocal, and among the classes offered there is a notable regular Tai Chi group that meets up every morning at around 7am. There are also regular softball teams and an occasional kick-ball group that meet here every now and then, and also regular pick-up basketball games during the week at night. The paved sidewalk that circles the grass and two basketball/two volleyball courts is just under a quarter mile. Lastly, there is a playground here frequented by the kids from the area as well as their young parents, and the elder folks that come out here for walks at dusk. Finally, there is a parking lot here for the folks that come around that is typically NOT full.

This park is a lot nicer than expected. If you are unfamiliar with area, this park is on Aala street. Aala street is home to housing projects and an area with a fair share of homeless. So… I was expecting the worst. Actually this park is really nice. It has a rec center which seems fairly new. They had a martial arts class going on tonight. There are also 2 basketball courts, 2 volleyball courts, a large field and a large jungle gym. The field is really nice with a lot of grass. The bathroom is in the rec center and was very clean and taken care of. Overall 5 stars for the park, 1 star for the area so average 3.

Transfer point for the Bus. A lot of homeless hang out in the area because the shelters are located down the road. They have a skate park and bathrooms. Hopefully they will move the homeless into a different place because it is crowded and I do not think tourists would want to hang out in the park if homeless people are there, they might get mugged or something. Do not get me wrong, not all homeless people are bad. I always give food to them when I have it in my car or I am around there. Some of them are really nice.

Rating: 2.5 Date(s) visited: 11/30/2010, many times before this. Atmosphere: 3⁄5 Available Activities: 3⁄5 Field Maintenance: 2⁄5 Restrooms: 3⁄5 Parking: 2⁄5 I was going to give this particular Park 3 star’s, but they only cut half of the grass in the baseball field. What the hell?! I don’t get it? Would it have been considered over-time if the person cut the entire field? I don’t get it? I guess I must give some star’s for the attempt of doing a good-ass-job, but it looks like it was a half-ass-job. This park is located around a low income housing development and China Town. So be on your guard when visiting this park… if you know what I mean. I only go here with a large group of peeps, like a baseball team. Atmosphere: It’s located in the«Ghetto» part of town. Available Activities: There’s a playground, Baseball field, Basketball courts, Horseshoe pit, Volleyball and maybe soccer if you use some of the baseball field. Field Maintenance: This is where I give the 2 star’s. Restrooms: There’s a sign that say’s «5 minute limit.» WTF?! does that mean?! You have got to be kidding me?! So anything more than 5 minutes you get arrested or something?! I guess they don’t want people living in there. Parking: There’s a Park Patron Only Lot and Street parking, which is «Hit or miss.»
