2.51 stars rounded up to 3. The food and drinks are very expensive. Food is meh + at best. What saves them is the luxe décor and beachside location. I’d recommend Azure for out of town guests who aren’t foodies, and want to do the Waikiki thing. You’ll enjoy watching the beach goers and sunset. If you’re a foodie, avoid and head over to Kaimuki or Chinatown.

Azure is a beautiful restaurant right by the water. The ambience is top notch. Service is excellent and is what is expected for a restaurant at this level. Portions are medium to big, so you get a lot for the price. The only small criticism I have is that the food is overly rich and salty for my taste.

Azure is an incredible restaurant and dining experience. The location is amazing with ocean breezes while eating. The food preparations are amazing and definitely one of the best places on Oahu. Highly recommended!

How to ruin someone else’s dinner at a 5-star restaurant 101: Talk vulgarly about engaging in anal sex, bowel movements, and contracting HIV so loudly, the entire patio can hear you and are thereby indefinitely annoyed; so much that several parties complain to the manager and ask to be moved from the lovely patio to indoors. Then make a scene to the manager about being«wrongly» cut off from alcohol although you’re clearly wasted. Oh, and then make another scene as you’re leaving the restaurant, pretend-bawling your eyes out for being«mistreated». You’re just embarrassing yourself, really. I really wanted to like Azure, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. Dining back in September, I was hesitant to leave a review because the service here was really fantastic, but the overall experience and food was just a-okay. My sister and I came by during our last night in Waikiki for a nice fancy-schmancy meal. We weren’t too hungry, so we went straight to entrees: the seared ahi & scallops and steak. The first was mediocre, however, the steak was really, really good. Both Wendy W. and I favored the steak dish more, which was surprising, as we both usually like fish & seafood more. We were originally seated in the patio, as requested in my reservation, which would’ve been really nice and romantic had I not been with my sister. Because of the drunken and disorderly party mentioned above, the entire restaurant was treated to complimentary desserts. It was a nice gesture and it’s not even really Azure’s fault as I’m sure they did the best they could to handle the situation as calmly and swiftly as possible. Even so, I’ll be trying somewhere else before coming back.

Let me share my experience. I’ve eaten in many fine dining place before but I believe this one by far was the least fine dining experiences I had. I don’t have any problem with the restaurant and I just write this review to make sure the manager reads it and keeps the standard of their restaurant. We booked a table for two for Saturday 26th of Dec for 6:45 pm. We arrived on time, we seated on time and so far so good. The waiter came to us for help and provided some ideas on cocktails. We ordered the cocktails he recommended. Guess what? At 6:45 pm, a fine dining place, ran out of the ingredient for one of their so called popular drinks. We had to change the order. I ordered Margarita which was nothing special and my partner ordered a raspberry cocktail which was nice. For foods. We ordered and waited for a while enjoying the ocean view. I ordered lamb and my partner ordered their Ahi Tuna. We waited… Guess what? They brought the order of my partner. But not mine … Can you believe it and this place is a fine dining place. I watched my partner eating her food. The food was nice. I waited more … After 20 mins they brought my food!!! 20 mins delay and gap between foods on the same table for two people? You judge! Acceptable? They did not even offer any compromise. … no free drink or no free dessert for this mistake! Not that we expected but would have been a nice gesture that could have changed my review. After the frustration and changing my mood to being frustrated, we ordered the coconut mouse … Help yourself and if you look for some nice dessert, don’t order that … I hope the manager reads it and contact me for some explanation … So far was the worst experience in our Hawaii vacation costing us around $ 200 for such a service.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. When I made the reservation I asked about the cabanas, there was a $ 175 minimum per person so I just requested an ocean side table. When we arrived they told us someone had cancelled their cabana reservation so they gave it to us, was a very nice view of Waikiki and Diamond Head. We ordered the tasting menu with wine and a plate of seared ahi and scallops. Every part of the tasting menu was delicious, especially the fillet and foie gras. Wine pairing were all well picked. The seared ahi was amazing and just melted in your mouth. Service was excellent and attentive, probably the best service I’ve had at any restaurant in Hawaii. Valet parking is free, just get your ticket validated.

Just so you know, this is a splurge. The Azure is a wonderful restaurant with a fine chef and is located at the Royal Hawai’ian Hotel. This was a special occasion for the wife and I. We opted for the Papa’aina tasting menu with wine. This is a special meal that must be reserved in advance. But well worth it. If you want to blow your wife(or significant other) away — consider this. The setting: Seating is in one of the cabanas right on the Royal Hawai’ian’s beach. Sound of the beach, the view. romantic stuff! The Food: Eight courses with seven wine pairings.(You can get the meal without the wine but I can’t imagine doing so.) The menu is constantly changing but you can go to the web site to see the latest. Each course is a few small, well prepared bites. The wine paring was spot on. Compliments for the chef and sommelier. Our waiter was also great. You may want to dress up, but hey this is Hawai’i and nice casual is just fine.

Wowsers! I was very fortunate to have dinner here for the first time recently. Azure is a beautiful restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside and were blessed with beautiful weather, despite a lot of rainy days that week. It was low-lit and fairly intimate, although the tables did seem to be a little close together. My dinner companion and I shared everything, even our entrees. This is what we had: Big Island Salad: This was a simple but perfectly composed salad. The salad was well-dressed and a nice way to start the meal. Chilled Seafood Platter: Outstanding. According to the menu, the selection varies slightly depending on availability. Everything we had, from the abalone to the lobster, was great. We killed this! Ribeye Steak: I don’t usually order steak at restaurants, because I will immodestly say that I cook a great one myself. The steak here was excellent, as were all its accompaniments. A very generous portion size. Seared Ahi & Scallops: Yum. I thought this was also a generous portion. By the time we got our entrees, we were slowing down a little, but this was great. Much like the seafood platter, everything tasted very fresh. Lilikoi Crème Brulee: The lilikoi flavor was not too overpowering, and this was really well done. Prices are high, which is to be expected. Service was fantastic — attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommended.

I wish it wasn’t so dark yet when we went in, but I bet this place has a great view since it’s right on the beach. We chose Azure as our one«higher end» dinners of our last trip to Hawaii. Azure is located in the Royal Hawaiian, so you know it’s classy. We made reservations and requested outside seating, and I am glad they honored it because it was more romantic and a great way for us to end our trip. Service was great. All the servers were very friendly and knowledgeable about every dish that they brought out. We did the wine paring with the tasting menu and they were not skimpy on the wine which was nice. There was three courses, a main and a dessert. It was the perfect amount. $ 111 for the tasting and wine pairing wasn’t bad considering we were on vacation, INHAWAII where things are«more» expensive. The kona lobster butternut squash soup and the grilled prawns were the two dishes that stood out to us the most. The hamachi was good and fresh and the main dish, the beef filet with foie gras was tasty too. Wasn’t so much a fan of the pumpkin panna cotta for dessert, but that’s fine. Oh! and how could I forget to mention the bread and cracker they served at the beginning that comes with this clam dip and butter. I really liked the clam dip, that was a nice touch. Overall, it was a nice experience and the food was tasty.

Looking for a place to take your date?! Well you’ve found it! Beautiful view right on the beach with amazing food. I’ve came here twice and tried the seafood risotto, ribeye, filet with foie gras, seafood pizza, and the lobster. Everything was great! The filet with foie gras is a MUST for an appetizer! I’ll definitely be back.

All I can say is YUM. This place is not for the faint of wallet — but well worth every penny. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a higher end seafood place in Hawaii — classy, romantic, and beachy ambiance, perfectly cooked and delicious food, great service, and a huge chunk out of your wallet for good measure. What we ordered: Alaskan Corn Chowder Azure Sashimi Crimson Snapper Every item was just beyond delicious. Couldn’t recommend any of them enough but even none fish lovers can enjoy the snapper. It was just that amazing. Pro tip: Sit outside and enjoy the view! Final Verdict: YUSS!

This is probably as good as it is going to get. The restaurant is located in the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. It is right off the beach. The atmosphere alone deserve extra stars. All that aside the server who was attending to us was extremely knowledgable. He recommended fresh local catch of the day. The food quality was splendid. I highly recommend to save some room for dessert. I had the Lychee Sorbet and it was heaven! Please refer to my photos for references.

AMAZING! OMG! Some of the most delicious food I have ever eaten. Came here for my birthday dinner and had the tasting menu. Everything was perfect. I highly recommend it. Each dish was beautifully plated and equally exquisite in flavor. I don’t eat meat so the chef made me a blackened fish that I didn’t like so much but was not hesitant to prepare it for me a different way. Of course, the final dish was exceptional. The cocktail I ordered was amazing too. It was the Guava Caliente and boy did it pack a punch. Sweet in the beginning then a nice spice to follow. Below is what was offered on the tasting menu. At around $ 80 per person, it is well worth the experience. First Course Hamachi Sashimi Big Island Salad Soy Vinaigrette & Japanese Horseradish Second Course Roasted Butternut Soup Kona Lobster Cauliflower Panna Cotta & Pumpkin Seed Gremolata Third Course Grilled Kauai Prawns Waimanalo Rocket & Apple Pear Marcona Almond & Pickled Plum Main Hawaii Rancher’s Beef Filet and Foie Gras Ali’i Mushrooms & Roasted Garlic Potato Truffled Kabayaki Dessert Pumpkin Panna Cotta Spiced Sour Apple & Cranberry Crumble

They sure love their saffron here. Too bad I’m not that in love with it. I think the atmosphere and service here are just excellent, but the food is not as good as it could be for such a classy restaurant. We ordered the following: Prawn and dungeness crab saffron soup Clam appetizer Ahi tuna and scallops Seafood risotto Everything but clams I believe had saffron in it. My mouth was overloaded by the end of the meal. It was too much. We could not finish our entrees and didn’t really want to take them back to our hotel room. Everything was cooked perfectly, but I think they just need to work on their flavors. Otherwise, they will be an all-star restaurant.

I had one of the most memorable dinners at Azure, with my friend Jules Y. last night, as we went there to celebrate her belated birthday. Azure has been on my radar for a long time now, but I was just waiting for the right occasion to go here, and I’m glad I was able to spend it with someone special last night. What can I say about Azure? Well, there are a lot of(+‘s) pluses about this place… and if I could properly critique things… there was just one(-) negative…(But I will get to that later). I made reservations for Azure a few weeks back, and I just want all the fella’s to know… if you wanna take your wife, girlfriend, friend or partner… I highly recommend you make your reservations weeks in advance, because this restaurant is very busy & popular. Even when I made my reservations a few weeks back, I was only able to secure a Friday night reservations for an 8:45PM time slot. And you know what gang? When we showed up, the place… no joke gang! It was packed! The things that stood out for me about this place — 1. Easy parking… you park in the same parking structure as the Sheraton Hotel. The restaurant will validate your ticket, and depending on how long you stay… there is only a small fee if you stay on the premises for a long time. 2. Service… we received TOPNOTCH professional service, from a professional waiter named Thomas. 3. Food… easy 5+ stars. Too legit to quit gang! Nice presentation, tastefully delicious, & food was served at the most appropriate times. I ordered the following last night…(tasting menu) which consisted of the following items — A. Hamachi Sashimi B. Roasted Butternut Soup with Kona Lobster C. Grilled Kauai Prawns D. Hawaii Rancher’s Beef Filet & Foie Gras E. Pumpkin Panna Cotta And my friend Jules Y. had ordered the following — A. Kona Lobster Chowder B. Grilled Herb Onaga C. And her meal included two sides, which consisted of a Japanese sweet potato and bok choy(Chinese cabbage). After dinner, it was a very nice touch that the staff of Azure included a flourless chocolate cake for my friend to celebrate her belated birthday. From there, we ordered some after dinner tea & coffee. They do offer many types of tea, but my friend picked the peppermint tea, and I in turn, picked the French Press Kona Coffee. The peppermint tea not only had the slight taste of peppermint, but it also had the nice aroma of peppermint. The French Pressed coffee was very strong… the kinda strong that will put hair on your chest(if you know what I mean)! I like that! 4. Atmosphere… a beautiful elegant restaurant… high ceilings, with very nice lighting. The restaurant has breathtaking beach shoreline views. Even in darkness… you can still see the ocean, and hear the crashing sounds of the water/waves. As beautiful as the restaurant was… there was actually one thing more beautiful than the restaurant, and I have to say it was the girl sitting next to me… 5. Dinner is served between 5:30PM to 9:00PM… we had a very late dinner seating, but there was no rush, as we probably left the restaurant very close to midnight. And during that time, there was absolutely no rush to kick us out, because we were the very last people in the restaurant. If I could say just one negative thing about this place… As elegant as this place was… I did notice that this restaurant was an open air restaurant. Nice! But it probably works better when there is a good trade wind going… but during times when there is no wind… it can get very HOT, &UNCOMFORTABLE in the restaurant. There were a few ceiling fans, but I’m pretty sure I did not feel any of that last night! It was HOT, HOT, HOT! In conclusion, if you’re looking for a wonderful night out for a special dinner… Azure will surely not let you down! Just pick a night when there is a good trade wind going, or maybe down the line, this place should consider putting in some air conditioning.

I was staying at the Royal Hawaiian so coming to the Azure restaurant was convenient and charging to the room was very easy. Also, if you’re an SPG member, you get the points, so charging it to your room is a must. You would expect this restaurant to have some class and intimacy. But just forget about any expectations here, as the diners and tourists pretty much dictate how the mood will be. It’s not a kill joy or anything… but again, dont have any high expectations for anything romantic or anything. I do recommend the tasting menu with the wine pairing. You get a taste of everything and the price is reasonable especially for Hawaii. If you do decide on the tasting menu, make sure you come here hungry as they put a lot on the 5 plates they present to you. Make sure to make reservations. I saw a lot of people waiting up to 45 minutes or more because they didn’t call ahead of time.

The boyfriend and I came to Azure to celebrate our first anniversary together. It was my first time ever in Hawaii. This place was the perfect place to celebrate. It was right on the beach. Beautiful view. Wonderful food. Amazing company. The boyfriend requested the tasting menu with wine pairings. Wine? Don’t mind if I do! Now, I’m the type of girl who gets a good buzz going after one beer. This was not the best decision the bf has ever made, but I sure did enjoy myself thoroughly :). Keep in mind your date’s alcohol tolerance because although alcohol takes things up a notch and spices things up, drunky drunky is the least bit sexy! We had the table with the«private» cabana with a view of the beach. The sand was steps away. What a gorgeous view and major photo op! Selfie?! Why, yes! When I say, «private» let me clarify that the cabana is actually only there for looks. It does not block traffic, each side is open, and everyone can see what you are doing. It’s still a nice setup and you feel like you’re sitting at a sweethearts table with your sweetheart. Awwwww… The bf had actually planned to have us seated before the sun was setting so we could watch the sunset together. Such a cute idea, except for the clouds who stole the show and blocked the sun! Whomp whomp whomp… Better luck to you! So my judgement is only good up until after the 6th tasting as that’s when the wine starting working it’s magic and making the world a more colorful, funny, and spinning place… *Amuse bouche*: Yes please, please amuse my bouche. It was shrimp with caviar and it was scrumptious! Wine? Don’t mind if I do! *Japanese hamachi crudo*: Their version of fish and chips. Delectable! Fish with a perfect crunch and an amazing sauce to accompany. Wine? Don’t mind if I do! *Kona lobster brioche*: Yummy yummy. All players in this dish played well with others. And that crunch, that perfect crunch! Wine? Don’t mind if I do! *Big Island Abalone and Pork Tonkatsu* : I wasn’t a fan of the abalone, it was bland. The pork Tonkatsu was tender and perfectly seasoned. So juicy! Still, my least favorite dish. Wine? Don’t mind if I do! *Smoked duck and foie gras raviolo* : Thank goodness I didn’t miss this dish as it was my absolute favorite and the best on the menu! The foie gras was amazing and a generous portion was served. The duck and squid ink pasta — everything together complimented each other so well in this dish. Wine? Don’t mind if I do! The wine made made the flavors pop even more. It was a party in my mouth! That’s the end of my review. Stacy vs. wine. Wine wins! I do remember all the food being exceptionally delicious even after having had just a tad too much wine. The bf said the dessert was phenomenal. Wine? Don’t mind if I DON’T! Wait… Can someone help me walk? How sexy am I now?! The cabana with the view combined with the delicious food made this the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.

The service was great and the portions were surprisingly very large. I have no complaints about the food, everything was very good! They apparently have a «dress code» and when we asked about it they said collared shirt, preferably long pants and nice sandals. Fiancé definitely didn’t bring long pants on vacation and he wore a nice pair of golf shorts, an aloha shirt and sandals and was dressed nicer than a lot of people there. So if you’re worried about the dress code, don’t be. Just don’t come from straight off the beach. :)

Located at the Royal Hawaiian(pink) hotel. We were almost late for our reservations because we had gotten a bit lost. We called to ask where to park and they had told us we can go to the Sheraton to valet. So we did, in which they told us we could drive ahead because they had their own valet. We pulled up and the valet sign said closed. Thankfully, one of the valets told us he could take our car anyways. Phew! One of the things I liked best about eating here was the ambiance. I really appreciated the décor and the view of the ocean(minus all the people wandering around on the beach). The staff was friendly and very helpful when we had questions about the menu and such. The food was unique from other places I’ve been to. They provided three different types of bread. My favorite being the one with olives in it. The other two were nothing more than average. I ordered the crab chowder as a small dish and it was very good. I liked the sweet potatoes and little chunks of potatoes. As my entrée, I ordered the opah with spinach and sweet potatoes as a side. All of which were delicious. One thing you’ll notice about their menu is a lot of their ingredients are locally made. And their fish are all fresh off the market. The only thing I could’ve done without was the desserts. The chocolate was too rich for my taste(I didn’t take a picture of my dessert. Sorry!) which I was sad about because I absolutely love chocolate. It was what I was most looking forward to but I couldn’t even eat half. I guess perfect to safe for later. All in all though I would definitely come back.

I went to azure for a friend’s birthday. When I called to make a reservation, they didn’t ask if I was going to be celebrating a special occasion, and I guess it’s my fault for not telling them when I made a reservation. We ended up getting there a little early, because the restaurant is easy to find, right next to the Mai tai bar, beach front of the royal hawaiian hotel. We decided to get a drink at the Mai tai bar while we waited for our reservation. We were seated next to the entrance, which was fine because the décor is very classy and nice. Our dinner began with complimentary bread and«lavash» with butter and clam dip. The lavash was kinda weird, more like a chip than the«cracker» style I’m used to. I also ordered the raspberry cocktail, which I really enjoyed. We ordered the shrimp appetizer to share, which I highly recommend and I ordered the opakapaka for my entrée with purple sweet potato and spinach. The food was excellent, although I would have liked more sauce with my fish. I didn’t have room for dessert, but nothing really appealed to me on the dessert menu. The food and ambiance were great. For the price, I’d expect the service to be excellent, but we were left waiting for the bill for at least 20 minutes. It was awkward and I didn’t expect it from such a classy restaurant. It was also my fault for not telling them we were celebrating a birthday ahead of time, but when we ordered, I let them know and they brought out a dessert that said«congratulations» because they«ran out» of birthday desserts. I guess that was nice gesture, but maybe they should have just left off the salutation. The women’s restroom is also like a mile(ok maybe like 0.25 mile) away from the restaurant because the restaurant doesn’t have their own restrooms…
