This family owned business has been around for a long time and for good reason. They are exceptionally friendly, professional and knowledgable. I can go there and«talk story» with them for a long time. They usually have a wait list for their chicks. Specialty breeds are a special order — ask them via email or phone for the list — they will email it to you in a timely manner. I placed my name on the waitlist for my brown layers(6) — but wasn’t able to take all 6(just 3), and they were very accommodating about it. Just let them know that you are unable to take the chicks early on or if you have to modify your order. They sell feed, pine shavings, feed supplies, seeds for your garden, books, eggs, herbs, etc.

My baby chicks arrived this morning at the post office! The chicks are all very healthy & happy– the hatchery even put in two extra chicks for free! The staff at Asagi was very professional and conveyed plenty of Aloha. You can tell that they genuinely care about their chickens and their customers. If only we could find customer service like that at more businesses! The next time I order baby chicks, I will definitely go through Asagi Hatchery… what a wonderful business! P. S. If you are looking for a wide variety of specialty chicken breeds, their specialty hatches(in spring) are sure to please.

Super nice staff. I’m a first time chicken owner and they were extremely helpful setting me up with just the right layer feed. Within a few weeks my hens were producing eggs. They have a good variety of organic and nonorganic feed as well and feed supplies that cam be hard to come by.

This family business is incredible. We are dipping our toes into urban homesteading with our very first chicken coop and chickens… and know NOTHING about raising chickens! The owner was so patient and friendly and thoroughly answered all of our questions. We never felt rushed and were impressed by how reasonably priced everything is. We get our new hatchlings next week and can’t wait! I strongly recommend Asagi Hatchery if you’re even the least bit interesting in having a backyard garden with chickens. You won’t regret it!

I love this place. We were an unlikely family to raise backyard chickens and we love it. The folks at Asagi are total experts and love to provide tons of information. Our pullets that we got from Asagi are doing great and laying lots of eggs.

Tweet Tweet… Tweetly-Tweet I have always loved animals my whole life, and chickens was always that typical Filipino Pet\side Business\Food. But my chickens were always just pets. I have been coming to Asagi Hatchery since I was 8 Years old to buy some baby chicks. They actually sell a bunch of chicken feed, medicine and farming supplies here. I have also seen some plants being sold here too. They also sell Balut or chicken fetuses that are still growing. They start selling the eggs at any age. They pretty must start incubating the eggs and you can buy the eggs at the stage you want to eat them at. If they aren’t sold in time then they hatch and you can buy the chick. Not sure what happens if the chick isn’t sold, but I am pretty sure they always sell out. Every time I call for new chicks, I am put on a waiting list a month away. The ladies who work there are always so nice, sweet, and helpful. I have been there many times to pick up baby chicks to be raised for eggs. I have always had my pullets; they are 100% on sexing chicks for me. I have recently placed another order because they are now selling the Easter egg laying chickens that pay eggs from brown, green, pink and blue. I hope I get the ones that lay pretty colored eggs. I am so excited. I recently picked up a couple baby chicks( ) and they grew quick and healthy. They are so cute and fluffy!!! I can;t wait to get my new chicks. If you want to get fresh eggs daily, this is the place to buy healthy chicks. They always are hardy chicks and grow big and healthy. I can’t wait to be picking up my eggs every morning

INSHORT, SHORT, SHORT — They sell: fertilized eggs for hatching, balut, young chicks, water/feed dishes for chickens, chicken feed & urban garden/small farm supplies — Open Mon — Fri(M-TR, 8AM-5PM, F, 9AM-2PM), occasionally open on Sat(call to find out) — Parking available in front of store — Cash & major credit cards accepted — Very friendly kama’aina business, been open since 1935 The only place I know of in Honolulu where you can buy balut(a boiled, fertilized egg that has a nearly developed embryo in it)! The Asagi ‘ohana still owns and runs this joint — three generations and running, with the fourth generation(great-grandchildren) of the founder hanging around the store/hatchery when they’re not in school. They’ve been hatching eggs since 1935 and have managed to stay in business by embracing this one concept: diversification. They started out hatching eggs to sell to the general public, and still do, but also sell — chicken feed(regular & organic), automatic watering systems, feed dishes, etc. — animal traps(various sizes available) — veggie/fruit/herb seeds — organic fertilizer — eco-friendly cleaning products — books on raising chickens, building coops, sustainable ag, etc. They also sell eggs that are about to hatch(good for elementary schools that use these as science projects). If you’re interested in heritage breeds such as Ameraucana, Buff Orpingtons, and the like, you can inquire about placing a special order for these. I think there might be a minimum amount you’d have to buy. The Asagi ‘ohana are extremely down-to-earth, hospitable, and sweet people to deal with. Very, very knowledgeable about how to care for and raise chickens, different breeds, what to feed them, etc. Facebook: Twitter:

The ladies who run the family business at Asagi are super nice. Lately there seems to have been a resurgence towards growing-your-own and going back to the old ways of keeping your own chickens for eggs is super cheap to do. When I got my first chickens the lady on the phone said they raised their price from $ 4.25 per chick. I was expecting like $ 10… She said its now $ 4.75! Hahahaha Anyways you can get some chickens that will lay you an egg a day from Asagi, and the feed too. They also sell balut and seeds of change seed packets. There is a waiting list to get regular pullets, and a special list if you want the Araucanas or other specialty birds.
