A true skate shop for skateboarders. They don’t sell skateboards as an afterthought like some of these surf shops. Support your local skate shop, hit up Aala Skatepark, then get something to eat in Chinatown.

Was in the Chinatown area, and so I decided to check out APB Skateshop. I’d been here once before, but just briefly with a friend. They have a pretty large selection of decks, shoes, clothes, and other skate gear.
I was looking to buy a complete, but I know that these things are usually cheaper online, so I wasn’t expecting much. What do you know? The exact board I wanted was on sale. It actually came out cheaper than it would have had I bought it online. Nothing like instant gratification, a good price, and buying local.
The employee, Nick, was super chill. He helped me with my purchase, and I was out the door in no time. Definitely come in and check it out if you’re in the area.

I took my son there on his birthday to get a cusotom made skate board. First we were gona go to Local Miotion or T&C but thanks for Unilocal! I checked the board shop and this APB specializes and it’s all about slate board! He already got a board so we needed to buy all other equipment and I wanted him to pic from the biggest selection on the island. Since I’m not a skate border I actually do’t know about other shopps but it made me excited to see all the boards and the other sfuff to go with. My sales person was helpfull and I am haopy that I found this shop. Thanks Unilocal

On September 14 APB had a skate demo and signing with DGK. Was excited for my son and his friends to go to this event. I realize it was busy and hectic. However, my son and his friends were treated rudely. I also saw other boys treated rudely. I am disappointed on how the «customers» you are trying to woo were treated. This is not smart business practice.

Just the mere fact that I received a message from APB regarding my 2-​star review, not to mention, handled it professionally and honestly, I have upped it to 4-​stars! They even went so far to asking for suggestions and wanted to set it right. Biggups guys and best of luck!

Located at the edge of Chinatown @ the corner of River and King St.
Though the store is fairly small, it’s stocked with the latest skate gear.
A few things that stood out to me:
1) A large selection of pre-​built cruisers (I’m not talking about long boards or surf skates). Zip Zinger by Krooked, Penny, and etc.
2) A large selection of skate /​life-​style clothes and shoes that you wouldn’t typically find in a chain store like T&C, Local motion, Island Snow, PacSun, and etc. Last time I checked, the store carried Nike SB, Converse skateboarding, Adidas skateboarding, Vans, Lakai, and etc. I was able to pick up an APB 10 year anniversary t-​shirt by Chocolate.
3) Lots of accessories /​trinkets /​skateboard equipment.
They have a good selection of snapbacks, belts, socks, trucks (some harder to find ones like thunder titanium lows), keychains, and etc.
The reason for 4 stars, not 5
1) A little bit of mark up. Understandable given this is Hawaii. An 18 dollar thrasher tee was 22 dollars here.
2) Lack of sizes. They have a wide selection of tees with good graphics but they only stock very few of each. They always have a lot of L and XL but S and M are really hard to come by.
It’s not in the nicest neighborhood so I’d recommend going there during the day.

i love apb! my friend used to work here, so we’d stop by all the time back in high school. got my second board from here and the guy who assembled it was very helpful. i told him how i wanted it (loose trucks, jelly wheels, etc.) and he hooked it up! the staff here are friendly and laid-​back. some make the effort to talk story like they’ve known you since and some are just quiet. i like the quiet ones when i just want to browse in peace: P

Powell/​Peralta, Steve Caballero, Tony Hawk, Mike McGill, Lance Mountain, Rodney Mullen, Natas Kaupas, Eric Dressen, Christian Hosoi, Mark Gator, Jeff Grosso. Those are the guys I remember reading about and watching on tape more than 15 years ago.
Yes I bought a skateboard. a Jeff Grosso. One of the few names that I was surprised to still recognize. I bought a skateboard from APB Skateshop due in part to fond memories I have of Jr High and also as a gesture of thanks for the fond memories APB Skateshop will help create for others.
Its nice to know that after all the time that has passed the skate industry still attracts the same demographic. As much as the X Games tries to commercialize skating, its still guided by those who are slightly awkward, uncaring of popularity and not interested in the rules and institution of organized sports, but dont let that fool you.
APB Skateshop is focused on providing the best selection coupled with the best service, I can say this with confidence after my two visits there. Perhaps its because I am older now but I can appreciate what APB Skateshop does. It’s a locally owned store that employs the very ones who help keep the industry alive.
I wont be spending my days looking for steps or rails, more so just fooling around testing the limits of muscle memory. I’ll mess around in a few skate parks when no one is there, listening to the same songs I did back then only this time with my ear buds and iphone.

I’m the type of person that gets excited about the simple things in life, especially when it’s FREE. It doesn’t matter if its a food or product sample; if its FREE I want it. That’s one reason why I LOVE using the Unilocal app on my smartphone, because I never know when I’ll get a check-​in offer; but they always makes me feel like I hit the jackpot. Growing up, I wanted to be a skater, but I was so scared of breaking my arm that I never learned (to this day, I haven’t broken a single bone). Although, I can’t maneuver a skateboard, I’m attracted to skaters’ confidence & their continued perseverance to execute a skate trick & probably the reason most of my guy friends & baby brother skated on smooth surfaces around the island.
Its unlikely that I’ll master an Ollie (one of the most basic skate tricks), but you’ll probably find me rummaging through skateshops, in search of the perfect birthday/​Christmas present for my brother & sometimes myself. The APB Skateshop (located next to world famous A’ala International Skateboard Park) is a tiny skate shop filled with everything a skater could possibly need: clothes/​gear to dress you from head-​to-​toe, parts to replace your board & its a skateshop run by skaters & made for skaters.
So if you’re interested in becoming a skater or you’re already tearing up the skate parks; APB Skateshop is the perfect place to support local businesses & hangout with some of the friendliest skaters around the island. Also if you happen to run into a soft-​spoken employee named John aka «Silent John», be sure to thank him for working hard to provide skaters a one stop shop for everything skateboarding.

Conveniently located across the street from Aala Skate Park, with a good variety of boards, wheels, trucks, shoes, clothing etc. The workers don’t push customers into buying anything. They are respectful and knowledgable, mostly due to that they are skateboarders. This is my favorite shop in Hawai’i.
