Good food made to order, great prices. I’ve tried a variety of dishes here and my favorites are their burgers and salads. They have specials and a wide selection of local grindz. The cooks work hard manning the griddle and they will pump out the foods during the busy lunch hours. The two egg breakfast with bacon is going to kill me one of these days, at least I’ll die with a smile. This is my second favorite eatery at 1111 Bishop. Oh, and they prep their own ground beef patties… good stuff! 3.75 stars.

This is a little restaurant tucked in around numerous businesses. Had the teriyaki steak with brown rice. Yum! Rest of party had BBQ chicken and hamburgers. Everyone loved their meal. Good portions for prices. Only down side– parking is not easy.

My guilty Hawaiian food is Hawaiian BBQ. I ended up getting the combo seafood plate with shrimp, mahi, chicken, and sides of rice and macaroni salad. The chicken was super moist with just the right amount of sauce. However, the shrimp and mahi mahi was pretty dry and overcooked. Also, if you like macaroni salad, they seem to skip on that portion compared to the rice. Overall, not bad. This is definitely a great substitute to L&L.

First time trying it. The BBQ chicken on the Aloha Salad is the bomb! No skin, and really juicy! Very tasteful and not too salty or sweet like other BBQ places. The salad dressing needs some improvement though. It tasted like plain oil… add more vinegar and reduce the oil would probably make it a lot better since it already have peppers in it.

Stopped by for lunch today after my coworkers had good things to say about this place. Located in the Remington Building, 2nd floor, Aloha BBQ Grill offers a variety of plate lunch options all day, as well as breakfast from 7:30 — 11:00am. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the open kitchen. It was a little smokey from the grill, but you can wait outside for your order. My coworkers had tried the stuffed salmon last time, which looked and smelled really good. But I didn’t feel like getting fish today, so ordered my go-to plate lunch favorite, the garlic chicken! The mini came with the garlic chicken, scoop of white or brown rice(no additional charge for brown!), and either mac or toss salad. I have to say my mini garlic chicken was very satisfying. The way I saw them make it was first putting the chicken in the deep fryer, then pouring the chicken in a saucepan to sautee with the sauce. The end result was moist garlic chicken glazed with a sweet soy sauce with fresh garlic bits. I really like that the chicken is a little crispy on the edges but really moist when you bite into it. I also checked to make sure that my chicken was cooked(no pink). The food and portion size was worth the price and I didn’t have to wait long for my food after ordering. Also, my mini came out in a regular-sized take out container, which was surprising because I’m used to mini plates being in those small square styrofoam containers. If you work downtown or live in the area, this place is definitely a go-to place for lunch! They also said they cater as well if you are interested in getting something catered.

First time eating here. Really good fish! I got the Ono with butter and garlic and it was delicious. Good price and you get so much food. The staff was also really friendly too. They have a really big menu so I will definitely be back!

Went for lunch. The hamburger steak was delicious and hit the spot. The patty was handmade and the gravy was amazing! Co-worker got the bento special and it was a towering plate of goodness — chicken katsu, spam, teri beef, hot dog AND a corned beef hash fritter ball. Not only was the food good, it was quick and everyone was super friendly. Definitely on the list for lunch spots.

First heard of this place from my coworker since his wife works or owns the place I forgot. But I had their stuffed salmon plate and it was the bomb! The stuffing they made was so good! And had a kick of wasabi to it. But their garlic chicken plate though… I loooove garlic chicken and any place that serves it I will try. The sauce they use has a nice sweet taste to it and it doesn’t overpower the garlic nor does the garlic overpower the sauce. They have a variety of plate lunches and the amount of food they give is worth the price. In fact it isn’t even pricey! They also have burgers and sandwiches which I’ll probably try the next time I go.

We had the Cajun ahi crab seafood burgers. Was so ono. I also had the ahi katsu. It was so perfect. I got to meet the owners and the cook today. I enjoyed everything about this place. Thanks for the good food and enjoyed the time we had. 5 stars Always.

Recently made the trek to downtown and stumbled upon this place. They have a great selection of plate lunch choices and even have a wide variety of sides. They have both a breakfast and lunch menu. Would go back again to try their other options. In regards to the food, I tried their regular plate chicken katsu, rice and toss salad for lunch and the thin, crispy, and not fatty pieces of chicken katsu hit the spot. For the price to portion, you get a good amount of rice, shredded lettuce and cabbage, and chicken, all for a great price. Their service is pretty fast despite the amount of customers that come in and go. Seating right outside in case you aren’t doing take out.

This is one of my favorite places to get a quick plate lunch downtown during lunch hour. The menu is pretty broad and includes breakfast and lunch items. They also usually have a selection of 4 or 5 specials for the day. Price range is in the $ 8 – 12 area so it’s definitely not going to break the wallet. The portions are nice and large and I usually get a very satisfied fullness(just in time for kanack attack in the office). Tip: prep your sauces to to while you’re waiting for your order to queue up. Also, it gets kinda smoky in there since the grill is in front, so wait outside if you’re worried about smelling like BBQ when you get back to the office. Credit cards and cash both accepted here.

Dissatisfied to say the least. I work at Hawaiian Tel about half a block over and we’re always trying to find the next best plate lunch place. Came here upon recommendation about their sky high burger, although not too much of a fan of crab cakes I decided to give them a try. I ordered the Cheeseburger Deluxe Combo which came with a cheeseburger and fries with a rather small drink. Totaling up to $ 8.12, not too shabby. Waited not too long only about 5 minutes for my food to be done. But seeing the cooks fingers ONMYHAMBURGERBUN while making my plate disturbed me to say the least. After seeing him use the spatula to place my meat on the grill, to wiping his hands on his apron. Then seeing his fingers on my food was already strike 1. Took my plate to work where I was not as excited this burger out as I was when I first walked into try. Finally get to work and open up my plate, burger looks somewhat frumpy. Pick up my burger and take the first bite and notice the meat is disturbingly SOFT/MUSHY. Why. Why is a burger patty soft. Every bite after that was only to fulfill my starving stomach who had not eaten for 7 hours. Burger was placed upside down with my patty and cheese on top while onions and lettuce and 1 tomato were on the bottom. Of course with this I was not able to keep most of my veggies from falling right out of the burger. Very very very dissatisfied with this waste of $ 8.12. Future customers, be advised.

Not only is the food always super yummy! but the customer service is what sets this place apart from all others! simply outstanding!. The last time I went I ordered the chicken and shrimp combo. but when I opened it I noticed there was no shrimp.(ooh well it happens and it was busy. no biggy).so about 4 weeks later I went to order it again. The cook saw me walk in and told me he has been waiting for me to come in again because he forgot my shrimp the last time. So not only did my plate have tasty shrimp in it this time but he also gave me another small plate of shrimp for free to make up for the last time. WOW! I cant believe he remembered me and my order after 4 weeks. Now that’s what I call excellent service! so if you want a great place to eat with friendly service go on over to Aloha BBQ grill. Happy customer for sure.

Don’t get the bbq mixed plate. All of the meats(chicken, teri beef, kal bi) were bland & tasteless like they were just quickly dipped in shoyu & grilled. Also, the kal bi was completely burnt on one side & they put the burnt side facing down in my plate as if to hide that it was burnt.

It tastes as good as it smells!!! Just walking into the little courtyard where ABG is located. You can smell the Teri sauce and sweet bbq musk. Offering up fresh fish and tender cuts of meats. This is a sure bet for lunch or that late breakfast. Daily specials and a SOLIDBBQ plate!

This is a great affordable«go to» spot downtown to grab breakfast and/or lunch. It’s primarily a plate lunch place, but more. There are your typical local items here like loco moco, chicken katsu, teri burgers, but there are also six different salads on the menu(ahi salad for $ 6.95, good price), crab cakes, and my favorite… tuna melt on rye($ 6.50, I think). I love their tuna melt(they used to claim it was the«best» tuna melt on their menu which I vouch for). The rye bread is what I think makes it unique and great. Also, it is a huge sandwich that I can usually eat for two days(unless I want to be a piggy and that happens). This place is growing in popularity, despite a couple name changes, and you will see a bunch of people standing around the front door at lunch, but don’t fret, they get the food out fast. Today I decided to come here for breakfast and they did not fail me. I have found it hard to get good breakfast downtown. I have found it particularly hard to find good omelets downtown(I’m open to suggestions). I got a ham omelete here for $ 5.50 which came with ham, bell peppers, tomatoes, and mushrooms. It was great and it came with brown rice no extra charge. What a deal. Also on their menu for breakfast was one egg, two slices of bacon and rice for $ 3.00 and a breakfast sandwich for $ 3.50. For the fancy, they have steak and eggs also on their menu. I think they are all great deals and based on my experience here, you’ll get a sufficient portion of food. All in all, this place is nice on the wallet and good for the appetite.
